  1. I don't think McFadden slips past the Raiders, though Justin Fargas did a nice job. I know Jerry Jones is in love with him though and being from Arkansas that makes him love him even more. I would be perfectly happy with Felix Jones as a late 1st round pick, and think he could be a real steal in the draft as well. If they some how pulled it off and got McFadden I would more than happy.
  2. I agree about protecting Pie, but he has to earn in ST. Its more important to get as many runners on base for Lee, Ramirez, and whoever the #5 is than it is to protect Pie. Bottom line is right now he is not one of our better hitters. He could become one, but right now he isn't. Derosa right now has a 3 year split of .288/.359 which is pretty much identical to what he put up last year outside of a higher OBP last season. Our top two hitters in the lineup need to create as many run scoring chances as possible for our "best hitters" Lee and Ramirez. Derosa, Murton, and Fukudome give us that.
  3. Few points: 1) Greene overrated? By who? I don't even see him rated/talked about that much. 2) What makes you think he'd hit top of order? 3) We went down in 3 straight, not 4. Yeah Greene would probably hit 7th or 8th for the Cubs depending on if you want him to hit infront or behind Pie. If the Cubs aquired Greene and Pie has a half decent season the depth of the lineup would be unreal. If the cubs acquire Greene and not Roberts, Greene hits 5th or 6th in our lineup (where he hit last year), not 7th or 8th. Soriano Fukudome Lee ARam Greene Soto Pie DeRosa Thats how I'd do it. I would still prefer Derosa Fuku Lee Aram Soriano Soto Greene Pie

  5. It would be trading from areas of depth to fill a tremendous hole. Murton will be a little used 4th outfielder, Cedeno would no longer be needed with Greene, Patterson is lost on the depth chart with Pie and Colvin, and Marshall would likely be battling Lieber, Gallagher and others for the last rotation spot. Khalil Greene on the road in 2007: .288 .322 .519 .840 Khalil Greene on the road career: .280 .335 .515 .850 Remembering that Greene plays most of his games in the toughest hitter's park in baseball and the toughest hitting division in MLB and that the NL Central is arguably the best hitter's division in baseball, the numbers Green could put up playing for the Cubs in a very solid line up all the way through could REALLY pump his numbers up. If you add Greene's bat (ignore the great defense he plays for a moment) to the Cubs line up, the Cubs have Soriano, Lee, Ramirez and Greene with the potential to have .500+ SLG and Fukudome, Pie, DeRosa and Soto all with the potential of mid to high .400 SLG. Soriano, DeRosa, Lee, Ramirez, Fukudome, Greene, Pie, Soto And wow, what a stellar defense the SP's would have behind them. It's a lot to give up for Greene, but none of those guys are someone who turns me off such a deal. Please bronze this post and then hang it high surrounded by naked neon ladies. What is Greene's WARP over Theriot?
  6. And out of the #2 spot as well would be huge. I would still like to see Derosa leadoff with Soriano 5th and Soto 6th.
  7. Drew has done an amazing job rebuilding that program. Everything that have gone through the past 5 years, yes very amazing.
  8. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3211598 Haven't seen this anywhere here yet. Sounds like potential extortion to me. I would love for the FBI to find a reason to put Canseco in jail.

  10. how is this good news? FSC was doing a fine job of putting up 3 games a weekend with decent commentary, and now it's all gonna be broadcast on the internet instead. Update: ESPN 360 has exclusive rights to Internet only broadcasts. FSC and GOL TV will still be broadcasting Seria A and Coppa Italia matches. GolTV has Inter Milan v Juventus at 3pm and Sampdoria v Roma at 12:30pm. FSC has AC Milan v Atalanta at 2:30pm. I like this lineup too, but I don't know if Mexico is the first game to try it at. --------Altidore-----Dempsey------- -----------------Adu--------------- ---Convey----Bradley-----Donovan--- Boca----------------------Stevie C ----Parkhurst-------Gooch----------- ---------------Howard-------------- They need to blood the newbies, so to speak. There's really no better way to do it than in a meaningless game against a quality opponent. That and they can play with them IMO, the speed of this team up front would cause a lot of problems. Not to mention getting them to hate Mexico as much as I do if they don't already.
  11. Are their some mixed feelings about Texas, #3 in one poll, #8 in another, #16 in the 3rd one?
  12. I would be very happy with that. Maybe Danny Szetela ready to replace Convey, though I don't think he is on the roster.
  13. Under by a lot. They seem to be going down hill
  14. Texas A&M #16 in the country, and a #8 seed.
  15. Any recommendations on where to sit? Maybe a top 3 places incase I can't get my first choice?
  16. Another New York vs. Boston matchup. New England has two weeks to prepare, with the game indoors. I would consider taking NE on this one without even looking at the spread.
  17. If the Cubs pick up a legit CF, then the Khalil rumors will pick up.
  18. Where? Unsure. I'd bet maybe Boston or Chicago, though. nsbb chicago meet-up if its in chicago? i'm in. I'm hoping for Frisco.
  19. Can you imagine how high strung he must have been before that. I would have hated to have had to room with him in the minors. The part regarding the Ted Lilly signing was great.
  20. Thats better than adding USC. I still think Michigan is going to pull out Pryor. I agree. I'm just happy to see LSU have a shot at him. Anything new on Julio Jones? Still hoping Texas Tech gets him, even though its a long shot and I am not big Tech fan.

  22. http://hirejimessian.com/index.php/2008/01/18/i-wish-i-could-say-its-a-pleasure-to-meet-you/ Gee Mat Jew= Gary Mathews jr., if you're not thinking right. By the way, make sure to read the article (same on as in Baseball Discussions) for some classic Hendry quotes including some naughty language. So, would you be cool with: Soriano Roberts Lee Ramirez Fukudome Matthews Jr. Soto Theriot Rotation: Bedard Zambrano Lilly Lieber Marshall With Dempster/or Marquis and Derosa off the books, if you're wondering about salary. Sarge jr. can hit righties pretty well (.800 OPS) last year in addition to great D, so if you can find a platoon guy who can hit lefties (maybe get Payton in the Bedard/Roberts deal), production from CF would be sufficient. Just passing it along  I have a hard time seeing this get done, Isn't Mathews, Jr. owed like eleventy billion dollars? $42MM more through 2011. I guess Hendry figures he won't be here then, so what does he care? There was always talk about the Angles maybe trying to get out of his contract due to the steroids thing. If they want out, they will have to either take on salary or eat half of his contract.
  23. That was one of the things I was wanting to know, thanks. S, all you got to do is ask. Its interesting, should be a curious season for him to see if any change has occured.
  24. That was one of the things I was wanting to know, thanks.
  25. Until two years from now, when he's replaced by an inferior running backs coach just because he happens to be related to a famous coach from the past What? He is also the assistant head coach as well as running back coach.
