The Cubs have never had a need to do this. They have an incredible record at avoiding arbitration at all cost as well. They don't need to act like Tampa or even the Brewers when handling contracts. -
Thats a long time for a future DH in the NL.

Just curious, but what line would Edmonds have to post to make people happy here. I know it will be different for everyone based on their level of hatred for the guy. If he could replicate his 2006 line playing only against righties I would be happy.

We were pretty much hoping for the same with Karros, especially in spliting time with Choi, and when Choi went down he performed pretty well. I'm not that hopefully but I am hoping.

Really doesn't matter as you have to bid for the rights to talk to him with his current team, not to mention all the bids are blind. That bid alone is going to be $60 Million+ and doesn't include his contract which will be huge.

It was great, the importance of Brian McBride is just unreal for Fulham. I would love to hear what some Fulham fans think of McBride and Dempsey. I want to see McBride on the Olympic squad.

I don't believe either of these things. Sven in Mexico? Can't see it. I heard he already had a deal in place to go back to Benfica. I don't believe the Chelsea/Torres thing because it's just ridiculous. I read that too. I just don't see him dealing with Mexico in general. Besides the next time the US plays Mexico they will fire whoever the hire as a result from the loss :-).

I don't take anymore pleasure in you losing than I do anyone else in my division. It would be interesting to see you and Tim become sellers, because you guys have some good guys to sell. which is why it's very frustrating to be losing. you'd think good guys to sell would = lots of points and victories. Thats only going to work once you sell :-)

I would take Deron too, but remember Parker is only 25 and still improving. Where will Augustine fall into this mix in a couple of years. I won't be surprised to see him right behind Paul, Rose and Deron. And Deron won't be 24 for another month...that's not really an advantage for Parker, unless you just happen to think that Deron is closer to his ceiling than Parker is. Not at all, I just think Parker's age gets forgotten given that I think this is something like his 8th year in the league. Like I had mentioned I would still take Deron, but I believe Parker has yet to peak as well.

I'm showing I am the only one in first place alone right now. The winner of Raw and Harry will be the other one. Either way I am getting two start from Cliff Lee and two starts from Bedard this week :D . Though I expect Lee to have 1 bad start coming soon.

I understand the thought behind it, but I'm not sure the NCAA likely would issue SMU the death penalty again if they had to do it all over. Still something is going to have to eventually happen, and at some point the NCAA is going to want to send some kind of message. The have almost seemed to have given preferential treatment towards USC and looking the other way in past cases. However these cases at USC are not small infractions.

At what point though would the Marlins even consider trading him 2 years till FA, 1 year till FA? There really is no bunch of years on a bargain contract if he is going through arbitration every single season. At that point anyways I am sure the team would want an extension on him as well. Why would the Marlins want to trade him when they could lock him up now. At some point they have to start keeping a couple of guys.
