  1. Agreed. As one of the original members of the league, this is how its always been. Seconded! With the exception of losing his starting job, Thirded ;-)
  2. I didn't even realize Cliff Lee was pitching last night. To wake to my surprise and see he put up 50 points is very nice :-).
  3. Seriously. I love sleeping til 11:45 and waking up in time to watch the whole draft. Now I have to wait 3 more hours. FTH The solution is simple. Sleep three more hours. I'm getting old, sleeping late is becoming much more difficult.
  4. Why is the draft not coming on till 2:00pm? Its supposed to be an early in the morning last all day thing. I don't need 4 hours of pre-draft coverage. We have already had 3 months of it.
  5. If I could ever make a building implode with two teams left inside this would be the matchup.
  6. I wouldn't even say you could do that. Again its all part of the strategy of Sunday. In the end every player has the opportunity to play 162 games a year, why are we trying to squeeze a 180-190 games out of the 1st base position for example. If you have two OF and one plays 7 games in a week and the other plays 6 you pick the player that you think will net you the most points. No subbing or switching for anything outside of injury and starts.
  7. I personally blame today's loss on this thread :-). Hopefully they can go 5-3 in their next 8 to make it to 20-10. I can live with that.
  8. the reason it was brought up in the earlier thread was because a relief pitcher was sucking. i was just surprised that someone other than me had a relief pitcher that sucked...i thought i cornered that market. I thought that this was revolving around the injured player talk, and if he had to be DL'ed or what to replace him. Never thought about the sucking. The sucking would allow you to take out daily and make changes when ever you want. Also this is the whole reason we set our lineups on Sundays for the week, otherwise why would we need to do that. You put a player in for the week you have to live with it barring DL.
  9. I don't. Weekly subs are my favorite thing about this league.
  10. I think his ability to return kicks is worth the pick the Cowboys gave to get him. I wouldn't say probowl caliber, but if he's on the field he adds some depth to the position. He's definitely better than a lot of the CB in the league. Also, with this trade, the Cowboys answered one of their needs. I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to move up to get DMac now. If he gets the chance and right deal he is going to. Still just a matter of that happening.
  11. I had hoped we could get him for a fifth, but I can live with a fourth. My guess is with Pacman in the fold, the Cowboys will go WR/RB in the first. This is good. I would rather have Jones over Talib and still be able to upgrade at WR and RB in the 1st round. Not convinced Jones is done. Would not be suprised to see another trade, though I think the odds are against it.
  12. That's unbelievable. Game-tying own-goal in stoppage time. Liverpool is going to have a difficult time advancing now. the thing you are forgetting is that chelsea is not very good. i can easily see liverpool getting an away goal early and head into extra time. I know exactly where you're coming from, but come on. They are very, very, very talented. Unorganized, arrogant and run by a joke of a manager, yes, but if those players come together on the pitch regardless of all that, they can beat anyone. Liverpool have Steven Gerrard, nothing is impossible.
  13. For Joba's sake I would hope they would wait until the offseason for this. Let him begin in spring training, let him work his arm strength back up to pitch more than 5 innings. I think he might do fine, but still his health is way too important to toy with at all.
  14. I think its very far fetched to assume Hendry will not keep his job with a new owner. If the Cubs win the division that is two straight for the eyes of a new owner. To expect any radical changes after two straight playoff runs with a new owner, and likely that the owner will have never had owned an MLB team to me is unlikely. They won't get rid of Hendry unless they have someone in place prior. At the very least Hendry will be given one season under which they get to watch his day to day movements.
  15. If you lift a lot of weights, your muscles get bigger. If you lift a lot of weights and take steroids your muscles get a lot bigger. I can pretty much promise you if I dedicated myself to a strict diet and specific workout program over 1 year you would see a remarkable difference. In 3 years it would be huge. Its very possible.

    Week 3

TY, easily my best week since we have gone to the 7 start limit. Probably my best ever.

    Week 3

I'm crafty like that. I have noticed that a lot of players have been picked up through waivers already, so I would have guessed that I'd be somewhere close to the top of the list. I also thought that the first waiver order was based on either the draft order or reverse draft order. If everyone is 0-0 with zero points to start the season, how can you set a waiver order based on standings/points? If you set the waiver order based on last season, I'm guessing it would either be in draft order or reverse draft order. IMO - First week waiver order should be based on the previous season standings - so same as draft order. Subsequent weeks should be based upon reverse standings / points. The idea is that the teams struggling the most should get first crack at the players coming through waivers. Nothing else makes sense to me. Are you saying waiver order resets every week?
  19. No it isn't. Sorry. You have to be kidding. If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit.
  20. This group looks tough. The Dutch team is very good, Nigeria usually always put together a very good Olympic team and will press everyone with their speed, Japan I would expect to be very sound as well. There really is not an easy group when talking about a 16 team world event like this. Hopefully we get Japan first, getting a win in the first game is always critical towards advancing.

    Week 3

That was the reason I thought we went into the draft process last season.

    Week 3

I am so confused on what we do with minor leaguers. I thought we were doing what we did to end last season. I wasn't sure either. For some reason I thought newly introduced players were going to a draft.
  23. I see we both have them making the NBA Finals...I hope we're right! They were really really good at the end of last season. Sloan has to be one of the greatest coaches of the last 25 years. I still don't think they will make it this season though, thinking they are the 5th best team in the West.
  24. That doesn't seem possible, those would be absolute bombs... has any right hander gone into McCovey? For whatever reason I was thinking he was left handed, not sure why. Money shouldn't be a factor with Toronto already being on the hook for the remainder of his contract. Although it would say a lot about him if money is the key factor.

    Week 3

I'm down big even though I'm having a pretty average week compared to the other teams. Looks like there won't be any undefeated teams in our division starting in week 4. I do expect today to be a big scoring day for me, so I'm not counting myself out just yet. Life sucks when the opposing team collects nearly 70 points between Todd Wellemeyer and Cliff Lee on one start each, no less. Cliff Lee I am almost expecting great things from him again every start out. Wellemeyer was just pure luck, they reason I picked him up was because he was facing the Giants. Still not great to have three pitchers on the DL. I almost wanted to bench a starter today, but missed the deadline. Oh well. I lost week 1 because of missing a start and only having 6, so I am little scared to do it to begin with.
