  1. Follow-up: the front office (speaking for the club, the players and the coaches) put out a press message today explicitly thanking the fans for the way they "unconditionally" supported the side before, during and after the game. 8-) A group of Shakhtar Donetsk, Partizan Belgrade and Toulouse seems pretty tough, and not very attractive either. Wow 48 teams, I thought Europa was going to be 32. Group E Team Roma FC Basel Fulham CSKA Sofia Group I Team Benfica Everton AEK Athens BATE Borisov
  2. They should be very thankful they extended Wainwright when they did.
  3. This is awesome of Bayern: http://soccernet-assets.espn.go.com/design05/images/2009/0827/franckriberylederhosen_205x285.jpg
  4. God I love the Champions League. Bayern, Juve and Bordeaux. United v Wolfsburg. Milan v Madrid. Barca v Inter. Fantastic. Group A & F are great. Pretty good group for Arsenal, the match vs. Alkmaar should be an intertaining one.
  5. http://www.noshortcorners.com/2009/08/finally.html Well struck, cheeky goal. Thank you, finally. That has to be one of the worst nicknames in sports too, The Shrimpers.
  6. Looks like Wesley Sneijder is headed to Inter.
  7. Anyone found highlights to the Hull game yesterday?
  8. If Cutler could back it up the Broncos would have been in the playoffs last year. Cutler completed 62.3% of his passes, had a 25:18 TD:INT ratio and an 86 QB rating. His stats were just fine last year, if not very good. Especially considering the Broncos had the 30th ranked defense in yards allowed and the 29th ranked defense in points allowed. Cutler was 10th in the NFL in yards per attempt and 9th in the NFL in yards per completion. One player can't carry a team in the NFL. That defense gave up 112 points the last 3 games too.
  9. Isiah and FIU are not happy with the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament because they thought they were going to play Ohio State in the opener but are playing North Carolina. Hard to say who is really at fault, but if the AD did sign a contract stating they would play OSU or North Carolina then he should be the one to blame. Anyways they are threatening to pull out though that doesn't make any sense either. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=4422145
  10. They are working on some chants for Jozy, here is one I found :-)
  11. I agree, it's not like the draw just came out. We've known this could happen for days now. Spector played all 120 minutes.
  12. I'm ready to see it. Review is saying from 30 yards out too. If he starts scoring from distances like that he is going to be an absolute beast this year.
  13. Why would we want a 6'3" forward with strength, who can run with the ball and score from outside the box? Hope this season sees him to a bigger promotion next year.
  14. Looking at the stats on Gamecast: Possession 68% - 32% for Liverpool Shots (On Goal) 24(11) - 8(4) This was also the first ever loss for them in a game where Torres scores. Friedal must have really been on today.
  15. Villa are up 2 at half vs. Liverpool. Pretty much the worst start possible for them to the season, for a team that was expecting to compete for the title.
  16. Lets see over the past 5 seasons he has pitched 128, 46, 25, 148, and is on pace for about 150 innings this season. There is no way in hell he would command an 8 year deal if he was healthy this season. This is the most healthy he has been in 5 years, and the worst season he has had over that time. I love the guy and would like to keep him, but other teams are not going to be throwing bags of cash at him in this economy this offseason. I meant injury free throughout his career. If he had been injury free throughout his career, we still wouldn't be having this conversation, because he wouldn't be a Cub. And Mark Prior would be starting Tuesday's game for us, followed by Wood.
  17. You might as well blame the NFL for paying players too much too. The TV Networks for showing football around the clock, and even creating their own networks. The amount of football scholarships being given. I think the drug problem in track & field has hurt its luster a lot over the last 10 years. If Bolt is ever found with anything that would be a devastating blow. I do think its cool though to see some of these football players also become track stars, Robert Griffin of Baylor who will be in the NFL come 2012 still plans to train and try out for the Olympics in hurdles.
  18. Ryan Perrilloux has been suspended for the Jacksonville State season opener #-o http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4414299
  19. Coach DickRod apparently said today that Michigan plans on playing 3 quarterbacks in that game. That sounds like a recipe for a Western victory if ever I've seen one. I'll be hoping for some MAC pride in that matchup. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and I wonder how much of it actually comes true. I guess we could see the 3rd guy get a play or two. Forcier and Robinson should see the bulk of the snaps, I guess he is worried about them and has Sheridan as the backup plan.
  20. I noticed that, he also seemed to be tracking back a lot too. Though that might have been because of Chelsea controlling possession most of the game.
  22. Not picking on you, but why does everyone on this board assume we can sign the guy to a 1-year deal? He's stayed healthy all season and has been absolutely dominant in the second half. He's going to get some 2- and 3-year offers from teams in the offseason. Hence why you offer him arbitration. If he wants a long term deal, he'll walk away and the Cubs will get two draft picks. I just don't think he will get the kind of deal he could get after next year. He might get a 3 year $30 million offer, its hard to imagine him getting much more or longer than that. If he wants to gamble and think he can produce the kind of season he is capable of he will get twice that after a solid 2010 season. He might get a strong incentive based contract based on innings pitched, and I would not mind the Cubs giving him something like that. If he pitches 180 innings he will have a very solid year, getting to that number is his problem and why a lot of teams will low ball him this offseason.
  23. I missed the game too. I had a couple of friends go to the Chelsea/America game at the stadium and everyone said it is amazing, both the stadium and the screen.
  24. I saw that, it was funny and typical of something he would say. If ND did manage to go undefeated I still think a 1 loss, Texas, OU, OSU, Florida, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State, or USC would go in ahead of ND. Hell if BYU goes undefeated they will go ahead of ND too.
