  1. The regret should be on Pryors part. OSU offense and coaching staff is not catering to Pyrors strengths, i.e. more zone reads, bubble screens, etc. He'd be a much better qb under a better run spread offense program. I don't think that's the whole problem. He doesn't seem like the smartest football player in the world. Got to have intelligence to play QB, and I don't think he's got enough there. Vince Young was no brain surgeon. I don't know if you can judge Pryor's football smarts based on his inability to run an offense that doesn't fit his skill set. It also took two years for Greg Davis to figure out how to use Young. Young may not be real smart, but had great instincts and leadership. I'm not sure Pryor has either one of those.
  2. since when do corner outfielders who play bad defense and can't manage 30 xbh's in ~500 pa's count as productive? Hermida is 25 with still some potential left to be fulfilled, with a new hitting coach thats supposedly the best in the game, i would take a shot at him Take a shot on him yes. Insert him into the starting lineup in the offseason, no.
  3. Group F is nuts Team GP W D L PTS Inter Milan 4 1 3 0 6 Barcelona 4 1 2 1 5 Rubin Kazan 4 1 2 1 5 Dynamo Kiev 4 1 1 2 4 Barca v Inter & Kazan v Kiev on November 24th. I'm hoping for 2 draws!
  4. 19 years old, a couple of million, in Europe for 1 year. How do you become miserable?
  5. I do to, more so now since he is not a Packer.
  6. I have no idea why Scott chose Colorado to begin with. On signing day it was between them and Texas, but he went with Colorado because his cousin (I think) is playing with them right now. It's his uncle, WR Josh Smith. Smith transferred to UCLA over the summer so I guess it's not surprising Scott is following him. I didn't know that either. For the #1 RB that year he might have some sort of attachment/social issues. He certainly didn't go into Colorado and make the impression that he should have or could have made.

  8. Also the US plays Italy tomorrow in the Round of 16 in the U-17. It seems like we are always playing Italy in some competition.
  9. That quote belongs to West Side Rooter. While Im not a big fan of Hermida, hes still young enough that maybe Jarmillo can help him finally reach his potential, plus hes one of those guys Hendry has had his eye on for a few years, and now that he'll probably be available for next to nothing, I can see Hendry making the move. If Bradley absilutely has to go, and we dont have what it takes to aquire someone like Holliday, Bay, or Hawpe, I guess Hermida is a low risk move that could potentially pay off, and if it doesnt, we can just rotate him, Fox, Hoffpauir, Fuld, and Colvin(whichever are on the team) through the outfield. Its not the best plan, but our hands are kind of tied after last offseasons debacle. Given the lack of positions we can actually upgrade this offseason, Hermida should not be an option. Wherever we change needs to be a legit replacement. Why should we keep throwing money at veterans in the free agent market? We're not paying Rudy Jamarillo 800K to watch Aramis hit doubles, we're paying him to help turn around players with potential like Soto, Hermida or Alex Gordon. We should take a page from the White Sox and start getting players like Hermida (former top prospects/first round picks who failed with thier old teams) to see if we have anything for virtually no cost. Thats great for a team hoping to contend next season with no real expectations. Getting them hoping that they can rebound is also different than planning on them to be a starter this offseason. While I have no problem in that method you are putting a lot of eggs in one basket. I'm not saying to sign veterans but more so players who have a some continued history of production. The success rate in that is not real high, so we will be needing bigger years from everyone who is returning. Your paying Jamarillo for the entire offense, Aramis, Lee, Soto, etc. One player is not going to make or break us, the whole is what gave us the best offense in baseball two years ago.
  10. When you say Texas plays some cupcakes, why did you list Iowa with those other teams? Iowa should be listed in the cupcake part of your schedule :D Are they that bad this year? I had no idea, figured would at least be decent and put up a fight. I was thinking more like Texas A&M - Pan AM for cupcakes :-).
  11. Texas plays some cupcakes, but they also play Iowa, USC, Arkansas, North Carolina, Michigan State, UConn, and of course Kansas and Oklahoma. Barnes might not be the best coach, but he is a great recruiter and puts one of the toughest schedules out every year.
  12. Oh good, more offseason talk about acquiring Jeremy Hermida. 13. I knew they would get it together right before they play the 49ers. I told my brother that in week 2. I wouldn't go that far yet. I want to see 2-3 games at least like that before I start saying they got it together. I really hope Vince plays well, though. Partly because we've got too many other needs to be drafting a QB in the first round and partly because I'm just pulling for him. Yeah 15/18 in your 1st game starting in a year and a half is not bad, especially the no interceptions part. I would not mind seeing them sort of mirror what the Dolphins have been doing. Young and Johnson in the backfield could create a ton of problems.
  14. If that's the case, Berry would probably become the most popular player in Tennessee since Peyton Manning. I still don't expect him to at all, but it would be incredible if he did. Any idea why he might stay? We probably won't be much better next year (unless Lane can get Stephens/Bray to play like second half Crompton next year) even with Berry. I still see 2011 as the most likely time that we start considering SEC championship ideas. I wouldn't be so sure of that. On offense, QB will most certainly be a big question, but I have no doubt that this coaching staff can have Nick Stephens ready to play. We'll still be deep and talented (if a bit green) at RB, deep at FB, solid at TE, very good at WR, and even have some solid experience returning along the OL. On D, we have potentially 9 starters returning, and will be much deeper at LB than we are this year. Palardy will improve our kicking game, as well. Add to that a stellar recruiting class, including several JuCo's, and I think this team has 9-10 win potential in 2010. In only see 3 games (UF, Bama, and Oregon) where we will most certainly be underdogs. I think Berry is considering staying for three reasons: 1. HIs dad got a job, and the financial situation is not as dire. 2. His parents really, really want him to finish his degree (want him to be able to be a dentist if his NFL career does not pan out.) and 3. Chavis/Slade DB's have not adjusted well to the NFL, and the thought is that Berry would like another year with Monte to be better prepared to play right away at the next level. Also, he's just having alot of fun right now. Much more than he'd have in Oakland. Berry is gone. The Bradford injury will affect everyone who is projected top 5-10. Also with the rookie cap changing after this draft he will be losing out on a lot of money by waiting another year. The NFL career doesn't matter when you get 25-40 million gauranteed. Plus outside of injury he will have a great NFL career.
  15. Texas jumps up to #2, and TCU up to #4. The top 10 is actually pretty good. 1 Florida (50) 8-0 1463 2 Texas (4) 8-0 1395 3 Alabama (5) 8-0 1390 4 TCU 8-0 1182 5 Boise State 8-0 1176 6 Iowa 9-0 1161 7 Cincinnati 8-0 1150 8 Oregon 7-1 1079 9 LSU 7-1 1062 10 Penn State 8-1 966 11 Georgia Tech 8-1 934 12 Ohio State 7-2 730 13 USC 6-2 729 14 Pittsburgh 7-1 694 15 Houston 7-1 672 16 Utah 7-1 567 17 Miami (FL) 6-2 549 18 Oklahoma State 6-2 371 19 Arizona 5-2 320 20 Oklahoma 5-3 313 21 Notre Dame 6-2 281 22 Wisconsin 6-2 204 23 California 6-2 197 24 Virginia Tech 5-3 193 25 Brigham Young 6-2 106
  16. I also think Pitt will beat Cincinnati. Florida and TCU would be very interesting. TCU can put up points, and also have a great and very fast defense. Gary Patterson is probably going to be one of the most sought after coaches for the next couple of seasons. I want to see him stick with TCU though. I think Texas matches up very well against Alabama, but it would be a great game. 1st one to 20 probably wins.
  17. how do you give up an 85 yard td pass there? that's horrendous. It was, but it was also in a spot where Howard could have been. Would have been nice to see them get the win at home.
  18. I don't think anyone hates Iowa. We're just trying to point out that your team has many cracks in the armor and would probably get beat handily by a team like Alabama, Florida, or Texas. Id say you guys are pissing and moaning more about rankings. No one is denying that there are "cracks in the armor" - but the other top 3 teams all have flaws as well. Florida just hasnt been exposed yet, and Texas is not that much better than Iowa. Alabama is the only team I would put above Iowa, and I still say we could beat them on gameday. Id say winning by 18 points when you lost Richardson, Robinson, and Sandeman last week aint bad. Iowa has become very familiar with the term "next man in line" this year, and keeps winning. The only people that think Iowa is better than any of those teams is a certain percentage of the Hawkeye fanbase. I put out this question last week, but rank these 4 unbeaten teams: Iowa TCU Cinci Boise State. The only real reason Iowa is ranked ahead of any of them is because they come from a major conference.
  19. I feel terrible for UConn right now.
  20. i would have cincy and tcu ahead of them, but i already would've had that before this week. Me too. I would have TCU #4 and Cincy #5.
  21. If Iowa manages to win this game they should still drop in the polls.
  22. Wow. I thought so to. Iowa is too lucky.
  23. They are overrated by default like LSU earlier this year.
  24. Cesc Fabregas is amazing, this goal happened so fast after the van Persie goal they missed it live this morning. Great win for Arsenal 3-0 following the let down at West Ham. They could have put on 6 goals today if they or Eduardo was on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8kil2B2Qr0 (new video)
  25. All of his answers aer very solid, thoughtful, and educated. I'm excited for the offseason now, he knows what he is talking about and what he wants.
