No, it's like the Community Shield in England. Pretty much, its the Champions League Winner vs the Europa League Winner. The timing of the whole thing makes it even more meaningless.

Looks like the Nats will have to spend some money on pitching now next season or just decide to throw it in the tank now with Strasburg likely out for 2011. Should help on Dunn not being resigned.

Being one of the biggest Dunn critics over the years I am now fully on board for signing Dunn. I would prefer Adrian Gonzalez but its going to be expensive regardless. I could see Dunn getting 4/48, but would rather have him for 3 as mentioned before.

I read hundreds ( not hyperbole, hundreds ) of posts about how Kelton ( and Choi and Bobby Hill etc ) were the future of the Cubs, but I do not recall a single post proclaiming he had an untouchable immaculate swing, or anything of the sort. Colvin has already achieved far more than David Kelton, and to compare them is inaccurate at best. Colvin may well fizzle out, but at equal points in their careers Colvin shows much more promise than David Kelton, who OPS'ed .750 in his last two seasons in Iowa. In fairness to Kelton, injuries didnt help. There were lots of reports on how the Cubs loved Kelton's swing and didn't want coaches messing with it through out the minors. -
Why the [expletive] is Hellickson going back down to the minors to learn how to pitch in relief? Worse than the Cashner handling this year.

I was a big Johnny Bailey fan. 22 is my favorite jersey number. And he was great in the open field. It seems like he was a Bear longer than 2 years though. Yeah it really does, and longer in the NFL than 6 years.

Puerto Rico has a couple of massive kids on their team. Mexico and Japan play in their very 1st game. The Texas team look real good till they pulled their starting pitcher early to save him to just 1 day rest.

If Owings is willing to spend some time in the minors at 1st base I think he could become a legit option for some team. But I have been calling for him to become a hitter since he was drafted. -
Texas and BYU have just signed up for a home and home in 2013 and 14. Doing a good job in boosting the schedule with the loss of two teams after this season. edit: Plus 2011 guessing in Austin.
