  1. Actually, that picture of the "Low Profile" looks like it is a "no structure" hat - low profile still have the material in them that gives the hat structure in the front, it just is lower than the "5 gallon bucket" hats that 5950 is. I personally can't stand High profile hats, or the floppy unstructured ones. I really like the old BP hats and there elasticity, as the wool ones will shrink after a few good sweats.
  2. Give me Ravich, Olney, and Gammons - and maybe Kruk a couple times a week. For the love of all that is Holy, if you put Eric Byrnes back on someone needs to cut his hair, buy him some clothes, and kick him right in the uterus.
  3. What a complete whip in the a$$.
  4. As mentioned earlier, this is a business. There is something to be said for the fact that the Cubs haven't gone to arbitration since 1993 with Mark Grace. Hendry has mentioned many times this offseason that he is going to do "what is best for the Cubs." I trust him, and know that he understands that locking up Zambrano and being fair are essential to "what is good for the Cubs." This is very interesting, but I think we will all be happy with the results.
  5. Interesting that Barry Bonds is not on the list for OF. Very few have collected as many Gold Gloves as he (10).
  6. Too bad the Cubs already have 3 lefty hitting OFers on the roster (Ward/Floyd/Jones), so getting Finley, would be part of the redundacy department. Either go with Pagan as the final player on the bench, or McGehee, or heck, if Cedeno "shows" something, he still would be a better fit for the Cubs bench then Finley. I disagree, respectfully. Cedeno has no fit on this team, IMO. We have the corners covered with Ramirez and Lee, and I don't think we will need another offensively-challenged middle infielder. We have Theriot, Izturis, and DeRosa up the middle. I'd rather see what Fontenot or E. Patterson could do than go with Cedeno again. If it comes down to the wire and you can pick Finley, Pagan, or Cedeno - I'd take Finley in a heartbeat. He could keep CF warm for Pie. Still think the best bet is to put Soriano in RF and move Jacques to CF. We need as many lefties as we can get, considering how righty heavy this team is (especially on the IF). Remember, Murton and Soriano are RH hitters also.
  7. PITCHER - Greg Maddux (16), Jim Kaat (16) CATCHER - Ivan Rodriguez (12) FIRST BASE - Keith Hernandez (11) SECOND BASE - Roberto Alomar (10) THIRD BASE - Brooks Robinson (16) SHORTSTOP - Ozzie Smith (13) OUTFIELD - Willie Mays (12) OUTFIELD - Roberto Clemente (12) OUTFIELD - Ken Griffey, JR (10)
  8. Did you Chief me?
  9. Heh, when I finished my post, I saw you edited yours - so in turn I just edited mine. Interesting on the caps....
  10. That price is kinda crazy. The wool hats suck though, so we'll see...
  11. I'd take Steve Finley for a bench job every day of the week. Dude's got a lot of postseason experience, multiple Gold Gloves, and all kinds of accomplishments. He'd be a good guy to have off the bench. Can still play outfield and still moves well. Hell yeah I'd take him over Pagan and/or Cedeno. He's nuts if he thinks he'll be starting, but I would take him for a bench role.
  12. Well, I am a Dish Network customer who is NOT happy about this. Called again today and the operator told me it was not resolved yet as to if they would be offering the EI package. I asked him for specific information, and he gave me this number: 212-931-7800. That is the number for the Offices of Major League Baseball. I have a feeling that Dish Network will not win this battle.
  13. Mark Bellhorn?
  14. He's more fat than last year. Wow. And I hope Soriano is just goofing around on some of those fly balls.
  15. Is that Kerry messing around behind him? Looks like his face. Looks like his glove. Look like Adidas spikes... looks more like miller, who, incidentally, looks a lot like kerry. on second inspection, yes, it probably is wood. he's lost a ton of weight as well. What's with the normal size calves on Prior? That's an optical illusion.
  16. And I don't see Soriano hitting anywhere other than leadoff. There is little chance that Soriano WON'T be hitting leadoff, we all know that. I just wonder where he would make the most impact - leading off or hitting 5th. Either place, he will be productive - but what is best for the team? Jones isn't a 5 hitter, Floyd is (when healthy - and what are the chances?). I'm just throwing it out there. What do you think the most effective lineup would be - that one or this one: RF Soriano 2B DeRosa/Theriot 1B Lee 3B Ramirez CF Jones CA Barrett LF Murton SS Izturis
  17. I'm in total agreement there. Murton has plate discipline and good gap power. DeRosa is going to be handy, but we just have to wait and see if last year was a fluke, and I think Murton learned a few things last season. I'm hoping Theriot can make a statement, because I like to think he would be a better option for the Cubs in the leadoff spot. 2B Theriot LF Murton 1B Lee 3B Ramirez RF Soriano CF Jones CA Barrett SS Izturis I just see that lineup producing more runs. I would think Jones would be better to stick in CF, since he is more expendable when Pie emerges. In the long run, Pie and Soriano will be two of our OFers, and Pie is defensively the best man for CF. Stick Jones there for now and let Soriano learn RF (not a can-of-corn position by any means).
  18. I suspect somewhere down the line, some outfielders are going to be moved. Jacques Jones, Matt Murton, and Cliff Floyd - one or two of them will be gone to make room for Pie, who I bet will get the call in the second half for good. Hopefully, we can get a quality SS in the deal.
  19. Cedeno was a disaster as a starter. Zero plate discipline.
  20. I can tell you that it looks like Soriano is using Louisville M9's, which are Maple bats. I always thought that taping the barrel keeps bats from splitting. I like to use black bats because you can see the ball marks on the barrel to see if you are hitting mostly on the sweetspot.
  21. I was kinda hoping to hear we resigned Rod Beck.
  22. I still can't believe how one-sidedly against this marketing move the majority of you are. I respect your opinions, and I also understand the purity that Wrigley Field should have. I just don't think this is a BIG change, and if it is - maybe it is worth it. If this helps put better players on the field for the Cubs, I am all for it. Now if they started chopping down Ivy to put up signs, that is a whole different situation.
  23. This is not a big deal people. Here is your choice: a) Solid green door, no money.... OR b) Big door with an Under Armour ad on it, plus $$$$ that can go towards players, etc. I'll take "b."
  24. Considering the fact that Hendry gave Soriano 136 million, why shouldn't he pay Zambrano? Of those two players, you would be nuts to rather have Soriano over Zambrano. Zambrano is the ace a team needs in the playoffs. The Cubs don't have a player more valuable than Carlos. They have to pay him, and he really deserves it. If the management holds to their stated attitude that the Cubs must "win now, no matter the cost" - they will lock Zambrano up, no matter what the cost.
