  1. Baltimore is no push over also. Bedard is one hell of a pitcher. He already beat the sox this year, and they way the sox have been playing, it will be tuff.
  2. if he has trouble thowing K's he should'nt be in the bigs Then every pitcher should be in the minors, they all have games where they struggle with the strike zone. Yeah, but Hill has not been consistent enough in the strike zone to stay in the big leagues. So send him back to the big leagues to drop that sub-2 ERA, sub-1 WHIP, .171 BAA, and increase that 6/1 K/BB ratio? Or how about we let him try to improve his control at the big leagues. I mean, we could always send Rusch back out there. I dont have a problem with having Hill staying in the rotation the rest of the year. Im not sure if he could throw strikes consistently to stay in the big leagues though.

  5. Baltimore and KC isn't that insane. Luckily for the Sox, that could be right what the doctor ordered. Luckily???
  6. I didn't know the Giants could play two series at once. Will this be split squad? I knew I messed up somewhere.
  7. NL East: Mets NL Central: Cards NL West: Giants NL Wild Card: Braves AL East: Boston AL Central: Tigers AL West: Angels AL Wild Card: Whitesox NLDS: Mets over Giants Cards over Braves ALDS: Angels over Tigers Boston over Whitesox NLCS: Mets over Cards ALCS: Boston over Angels World Series Champions: Boston
  8. ARam for Mathis and Kendrick. Mathis, Pie, and Hill/Guzman for Miggy Cabrera. Done. At this point, I think Nappoli has more value then Mathis. But both deals would be very nice. But I don't see Hendry pulling it off. Napoli is garbage on defense.
  9. I would stay away from Jered Weaver. His mechanics remind me of Wood. Throws across his body which causes shoulder/elbow problems. He was already placed on the DL this year with shoulder tendinitis. If im trading Ramirez I would want Kendrick, Rivera and McPherson.
  10. I'm not sure the Sox can retaliate. Since they have failed twice now.
  11. Well said! It is fun discussing some of these rumors, but I've seen pages and pages criticizing the Cubs for thinking about Craig Wilson, Carl Crawford, Abreu, Soriano, etc. for a variety of statistical reasons. Meanwhile, back at the ballpark, the Cubs are on their way to losing 100 games. Hendry is an idiot for wanting Soriano and Kenny Williams is a genius for getting him. You've seen pages and pages of criticizing the Cubs for thinking about Craig Wilson or Abreu? I sure as hell haven't. I'm not even sure there are pages criticizing them for thinking about Soriano. It's not the type of move I'd like to see them make, but I'm not adamently opposed to it either. I've seen Crawford brought up on occasion, usually in the positive. people criticized possibly acquiring soriano before he changed his hitting strategy, began making pitchers throw him good pitches and became non-overrated for the first time in his career. We, the fans, want the Cubs to improve OBP. The more guys they get on base, the more guys score. It isn't that anyone is opposed to a Soriano (if we ignore price tag), but rather this organization is in love with tools and has zero value for the walk. What that entails in the big picture is solo home runs and not much else. If you build a team the right way, there's room for a poor OBP guy like Soriano in your line up. When the line up consists of poor OBP guys throughout, a guy like Soriano isn't going to help the team all that much. I would have no issues at all sticking a Nomar or a Soriano in the 5 or 6 spot in the line up and let them beat the crap out of the ball and rarely ever take a pitch. However, for these guys to have true value at what they do, they need guys on base in front of them. Someone said they didn't want crawford? When was this and where was I? A team that looked like this: Crawford Loretta Lee Ramirez Jones Soriano Barrett Cedeno would be pretty good. That's two guys ahead of Lee that get on base nearly 36% of the time. I'd like to see more done to the line up than this, but this gives you an idea of how a couple of good OBP guys at the top and another power bat in the middle can turn a bad offense into a good offense. Switch Cedeno with Tejada and let the fun begin on where you put everyone in the line up. A line up like that, and I wouldn't care if Neifi was coming off the bench, because no manager in their right mind would sit Loretta or Tejada very often. The skeptics are probably mostly a little leery of what would need to be given up to land that kind of talent, not necessarily opposed to getting a Soriano or a Crawford. Dusty would sit Loretta for Neifi in a heartbeat. But of course, he isn't in his right mind. Just like no manager in his right mind would play Jones everyday against lefties, Neifi against righties(3rd game in a row by the way), etc Loretta will not sign with the Cubs. He made that public in 03 when the Cubs were after him before getting Ramirez.
  12. Face it, McCarthy is going to be a starter, not a reliever. Plus he has been extremely inconsistant as a reliever this year. Would you really want basically a rookie pitching out of your pen as one of your more important setup guys down the stretch, or would you take an established pitcher like MacDougal? Not that tough of a decision to make. The Sox have a surplus of starting pitching, both in the bigs and in the minors. It seems as if Williams has decided he's keeping Garcia and Vazquez long term though if he does trade McCarthy. He's taking a big gamble, but I'm pretty sure he's going to try to do everything to re-sign Soriano in the offseason. Last year, he spoke out against getting AJ Burnett because he didn't want a guy for 2 months. Obviously Burnett commanded a high contract. Soriano will too, but I believe the Sox have the funding now where they can afford to pay Soriano after this season as well. Macdougal is not a difference maker. He has only pitched 4 innings this year. Yeah he helps the bullpen, but can he stay healthy the rest of the year should be the question.
  13. Imo, Dave Roberts wouldn't be a bad choice for a year until Pie is ready. He would probably cost about half the price of Pierre and provide essentially the same in production. Pierre and Roberts seem to be the same kind of player.
  14. WHO THE HELL IS TRUMP?
  15. Too bad the Tigers and Twins lost...awwwwww. Yankees are now 1.5 behind the Whitesox for the Wild Card lead.
  16. Not only are the whitesox 6.5 out, but the Twins are now 3 behind the whitesox. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!! Let's go Twins as well!!! We should change the title to the "Offical Go White Sox enemies thread" While you're at it, why don't you change your name to TwinsIndiansTigers!?!?!!? Best post in this thread yet. Someone seems upset about the sox
  17. Not only are the whitesox 6.5 out, but the Twins are now 3 behind the whitesox.
  18. I would like the cubs to make a deal with the Dodgers for Cesar Izturis. If the deal does not involve Cedeno you could put him at 2B and put Izturis at SS. Izturis has a career .980 fiedling% at SS, and he could be the leadoff hitter next year.
  19. If there is one thing I feel helped the Redsox reach the world series was luck and the improvement of their defense. Cabrera was a huge addition to that team. The Redsox struggled the majoirty of that year with poor defense. If they kept Nomar that year I dont think they would of won the world series. Cabrera was one guy I wished the Cubs would of got instead of Nomar. Would you want a guy who would play everyday? Or a guy who would play everyother day? I would want a guy who would play everyday.
  20. That's probably not true--or even close--but I'm way too lazy to actually look it up. Boston 2004 had Cabrera and Mientkewicz but everyone else was average or worse defensively Bill Mueller was solid at 3b, Trot Nixon was solid in RF, Varitek solid behind the plate, Damon was average in CF. So that was a pretty solid defense. I've heard nothing about Trot Nixon being solid, unless by solid you just mean average at best, which doesn't really say much for the claim that nobody has won without a solid defense. 2001 D-Backs led the league in fielding with a .986% commited the lowest amount of errors in the league with 84. 2002 Angels were 2nd in the league in fielding with .986. 2003 Marlins led the league in fielding with a .987%. 2004 Redsox had a .981 fiedling%. The led the league in the second half with the best fielding%. 2005 Whitesox were 2nd in the league in defense with a .985 fielding%. I probably can go even further back with the previous world series winners who had a solid defense.
