  1. Uh oh. I Can't Fight This Felix Anymore More Than A Felix Hooked On A Felix You've Lost That Lovin' Felix Peaceful, Easy Felix
  2. Also, Pie seems to have no problem hitting at the top of the order. Unlike, um, some other players with similar tools who apparently viewed themselves primarily as home run hitters. But this is PIE'S THREAD so I won't name any names.
  3. Funny, I think Corey II is exactly what he is. So far, he's shown great speed and flashes of a power bat while drawing one walk in 70 major-league PA for a .275 OBP. Hopefully his attitude will make all the difference. I get the impression Corey wasn't all that interested in learning to adjust.
  4. I think he's in CF to stay; I hope he's in the 2 hole to stay. Except against lefties; Theriot or DeRosa can bat 2nd against lefties, and Pie can bat 7th or 8th. Soriano/ Pie -- The Dy-minican Duo
  5. He coulda just said it to give the Brewers something to think about. You never know what you can believe.
  6. It's interesting, though, that in that story both Lee and Barrett use the phrase "as far as I'm concerned..." That may be a reach but I have little trouble believing guys like Izturis, Jones and Floyd are very unhappy, as they all probably expected more playing time. And DeRosa was signed to play 2B every day, is having a pretty good year, and still has had to sit at times to accommodate Theriot. But I think they're getting close to settling on a lineup; Soriano/ Pie/ Lee/ Ramirez could be the 1-4 for a long long time.
  7. You go right ahead and ignore the reality that his OPS is like 50 points higher in the leadoff spot than anywhere else. I'm glad Lou doesn't.
  8. That horse is dead, decomposed, and been reincarnated as a bug, which has already been squashed a number of times. Soriano/ Pie is the Dominican Daily Double; bank on it.
  9. Trade him for a good catcher and he'll be all for it.
  10. Suggesting they shop Lee is just frustrated posturing. If someone blows you away, then okay; nobody is *really* untouchable. But come on. Like the other guy said: Lee is what this team needs more of, not less. And with a high payroll and all the bad contracts, you don't unload the one guy who's actually worth what he's making.
  11. Playing the hot hand. I like Lou so much better than Dusty it's not even funny.
  12. Man, are you guys gonna feel silly when they win it all this year.
  13. What's so difficult to understand about the idea that Soriano leading off is not only not this team's problem, but moving him would be flat out stupid, given his history? You fix the bullpen, this team has an excellent chance. The Brewers aren't running away with it anymore. And Piniella has shown that nobody is safe and he'll try anything to fix things. I may be stupid but I'm really starting to get excited about this team.
  14. That's wrong on several levels, but I agree with the last part. If Murton's in a platoon, I'll be upset he isn't playing every day. Can't wait.
  15. They just signed Floyd, there's no way they dump him as soon as possible. He was a longtime Hendry target, and Hendry has him. Jim doesn't dump his recent acquirees. We'll see. When they got Floyd LF was open; now it's not.
  16. I'm too lazy to look it up, but does anyone happen to know what Soriano's numbers are when he's both leading off and playing left field as opposed to when he isn't? It seems to me he started hitting as soon as they put him in left, then slowed down as soon as they moved him in the lineup. Now his first game back at leadoff, he walks three times. He had a career year playing LF and leading off last year. If they just leave him where he is, I bet he'll be just fine. That seems to be what Piniella is thinking, too.
  17. Honestly, I think both Murton and Jones will stay. Floyd is the one who truly has no place on this team any more and will be dumped as soon as it's possible. Then Pie will be brought up and become the everyday CF, and Jones and Murton will platoon in RF for an .850ish OPS. And, of course, people will still complain that Murton should play every day.
  18. It's called adjusting. Man, are you gonna feel silly when they win it all.
  19. And you call yourself a Cub fan? Hang 'em first!!! Ask questions later!!! My way or the highway!!! Get with the program, buddy!!! I'm not sure you're allowed to post here unless you know everything.
  20. COME ON FELLAS!!! Where's that CUBBIE SPIRIT?????
  21. It's a winning streak, gotta have something to complain about
  22. Huh? I remember the day the world came to an end. I saw all this violently bitter hatred directed at Jim Hendry and I'm like, "Whoa, he musta got caught raping a baby or something." But no, he just had the audacity to sign Jacque Jones. Some people are genuinely astonished when he plays well. It's hilarious. Jacque Jones was exactly the type of player this team didn't need and exactly the type of player Jim Hendry would sign and try to pass off as a great addition. This team was desperate for OF production, and had been for a while. They were also desperate for OBP help, and the Cubs went out and got an impatient unproductive OF bat. He's not a blackhole type hitter, and occasionally does well, but he's not what this team needed if they wanted to start contending for championships. To top it off he started his Cubs career terribly, threw like somebody who picked up a baseball for the first time and got picked off the bases repeatedly, with no repercusion because of his veteran status. Frankly I don't understand why people don't understand the argument against Jacque. If this was a 95 win team he'd be a wonderful space filler. Unfortunately the 2006 Cubs desperately needed some big time production, and just like he always has, Jim Hendry got the wrong man for the job. Hey, I was in favor of trading Prior for Abreu too. But our brilliant fan base wouldn't have any of that, oh no

  24. Since when did anyone need a reason to want Jacque Jones traded? It's the default position.
  25. We'll see; Hamels looked pretty durn good against the Reds.
