  1. Hell, I'm a Cards fan and can't wait.
  2. Hope you guys don't think I was trolling. It was just a playful jab at those who take offense to celebrating walkoff wins.
  3. Marmol gave up back to back doubles and a HBP and Gregg got out of the jam.
  4. not sure if you're being sarcastic, but um every single team does that when they walk off. No matter when the game is. Just sarcasm.
  5. GEEZ, acting like they just won game 7 of the WS or something.
  6. This. The only knock on it I can think of are the concourses can be a little cramped. A cool thing is that they have hardly any ushers and the ushers that are there are "to help". Me and a buddy used to go at game time, buy 7 dollar tickets and then walk down to field level. For having small crowds, the fans are really into it. Much louder than a lot of places that draw 5-10k more people.
  7. This. I don't buy "knowing" Soriano is going to homer when he'd had a terrible day and the count was 1-2. And then he goes on ragging on Perez because Soriano hit a shin high slider out. He's really just an obnoxious prick.
  8. Today's Cardinals lineup vs. Dempster: 1. Schumaker 2B (7-for-18) 2. Ankiel CF (1-for-4) 3. Pujols 1B (8-for-30, 2 HR, 3 BB, 0 K) 4. Ludwick RF (5-for-10, 1 HR, 1 2B) 5. Duncan LF (2-for-4, 1 3B) 6. Molina C (4-for-12, 2 BB, 0 K) 7. Greene SS (1-for-10, 4 K) 8. Barden 3B 9. Lohse RHP
  9. Would you be pissed if Hoffpauir hit 37 home runs this year? Because that would be the same situation as Ludwick. Not really.
  10. Tony LaRussa is the 3rd winningest manager of all time. Two days ago with the game tied in the 9th, the bases loaded and 1 out he used Brendan Ryan as a PH instead of Ryan Ludwick. Flyseye, that should tell you all you need to know about how stupid some managers can be in game.
  11. gameday had it well in the zone (they had the Bradley strike 3 out of the zone) Pitch F/X http://brooksbaseball.net/pfx/location.php?xml=http://gd2.mlb.com/components/game/mlb/year_2009/month_04/day_16/gid_2009_04_16_slnmlb_chnmlb_1//pbp/pitchers/425794.xml&batterX=090416_151921&innings=yyyyyyyyy&sp_type=1&s_type=1
  12. Surprised that the Grand Opening of Yankee Stadium isn't nationally televised.
  13. Cardinals 2B Brendan Ryan CF Rick Ankiel 1B Albert Pujols RF Ryan Ludwick C Yadier Molina LF Chris Duncan SS Khalil Greene 3B Brian Barden P Adam Wainwright *sigh*
  14. True, but never underestimate Dave Duncan's ability to shine a turd. Duncan couldn't do much with him last year. 34 IP, 7.41 ERA, 13/22 K/BB, 1.88 WHIP, 5 HR, .919 OPS against yeah his minor league numbers give no indication that he can be an adequate major league pitcher. 1.39 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 IP, 7 K/9 IP, worse than a hit per inning. everything about him screams "mediocre arm." That's the weird thing. He has a very good arm. Mid 90's fastball and pretty good curve. He just doesn't miss bats. He throws a heavy fastball which is why he's never had an ERA above 4 at any level. I don't really know what his problem actually is because he's got good stuff. He obviously doesn't have the upside or pure arm, but he's been Samardzija like in the minors with fewer walks.
  15. I know this can't really be the case, but does it seem to anyone else like the number of these injuries to the ribcage and/or oblique muscles has absolutely skyrocketed in the last few seasons? yeah, it seems like oblique injuries are on the rise. As for the ribcage thing, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. He did it during his ab, and winced and grabbed his left side during warmups. Nothing with his arm, so that's good.
  16. Official announcement is it's a left ribcage strain. He's to be reevaluated tomorrow.
  17. Albert Pujols homerun. 1-0 Cards in the 4th.
  18. It's right off the highway. It's not in a walkable part of the city. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=kauffman+stadium&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=44.744674,79.101563&ie=UTF8&ll=39.052018,-94.479525&spn=0.010765,0.019312&t=h&z=16
  19. Well, Marilyn Chambers died today as well.
  20. http://wbztv.com/local/mark.Fidrych.dies.2.983934.html Bad day for baseball.
  21. There will be many mentions of Dempster's glove twitch thing and how Fukudome reminds them of other japanese players. Ichiro, Manny Ramirez, Red Sox world series, Kerry Wood.
