Would you also teach your kids it's OK to cheat their way through college so they could get better grades and presumably a higher paying job? Or to trade on inside information in violation of the securities laws because it would allow them to make a great deal of money? Absolutely not, but those aren't games meant for public enjoyment. But if there were pills that would allow them to be smarter in college I would be all for it.

Here's the only excuse I've ever given. I know that if I could take HGH or testosterone and it would help me play better, I would do it. I would do it because it could be the difference in 20 homers a year and 40 homers a year. The difference between those two are millions and millions of dollars.

you're right...mlb should step in and disqualify the cardinals from the 2007 season because he got hgh shipments in 2005 and some guy on a message board says ankiel allegedly used coke like eight years ago (and because they don't "deserve" it). let's just see if mlb can mandate a division title for the cubs while we're at it. the whining in this thread would be hilarious if it weren't so pathetic. He is just unable to throw a 2-seamer, which has been shoved down his throat. IMO, if they would just let him pitch to his strengths, he could easily be a #2-3. As a cardinal fan, it is maddening. TLR and DD let Wainright pitch his game, and are seriously trying to force a new style on Reyes, who in my opinion, has much more of an upside.

Maroth is in the second year of a two-year contract that pays him $2.95 million this season. He is eligible for arbitration following the 2007 season but cannot become a free agent until after 2008. Not earth shattering, but definitely something that will help the ballclub.

I believe he signed a 2 year deal prior to the '06 season. Not sure if there are any options or not. Seems to be a pretty decent deal to me. Give up nothing for a left handed innings eater that should benefit from coming the NL Central.
