  1. Prior, Cruz, Hill and Choi were all top prospects at one point.
  2. I can't say that I blame Bradley for saying he wants to leave Wrigley as fast as he can. The place is a dump and I sincerely hope that the new ownership is considering an upgrade. I doubt that is what he meant though.
  3. Your point about people blowing things out of proportion is well taken and if he produced I'm sure he could get away with at least some of the comments. What really bothers me about the whole situation was his timing. He waited until he was actually hitting the ball well to start his rants, at a time when Cubs fans were at their lowest point in the season. He was at his worst during the two week stretch when the team was playing themselves out of the race. But since he was producing he felt entitled to some mic time and he chose then to strongly imply that we're racist and that he hates playing in Chicago. All this in the first year of the biggest contract of his life. There can be no denying the fact that the media has been awful to Bradley, but he brought this on himself. I'm a Cub fan, so yes, I do have thick skin. We have to. But one year into his agreement and I'm ready to see him playing for someone else already.
  4. 1. When did Bradley do this? 2. Who [expletive] cares? Your skin seems to be as thin as Bradley's. He said the fans were involved in creating a completely negative environment and that he doesn't like playing in Chicago. He's also brought up racism, which rightly or wrongly people tend to take as directed towards a large part of the fanbase. As the head of an organization who survives based on how many people come to a game to see your product, you don't want one of your supposed main attractions saying those types of things to the fans you're trying to get to spend money, especially during times like this. He never, not once, said that he doesn't like playing in Chicago. I swear, some people just try to twist his words into believing what they want to believe. The statement was something like..he wanted the home games to end quickly so he can leave as soon as he can. I don't know about you, but that tells me the guy doesn't like playing in Chicago.
  5. Please show me the time Bradley cried to the media about fans being racist. I don't want to split hairs, but this comment while not coming out and stating that Cubs fans are racist, I think his intent is pretty clear: "America doesn't believe in racism. All I'm saying is I just pray the game is nine innings, so I can be out there the least amount of time as possible and go home." - Milton Bradley Right. That was his response to a reporter asking him if the mistreatment he received (in his mind, anyway) was due to racism. I definitely don't see how this constitutes "crying to the media about fans being racist." Then we agree to disagree. That statement is a clear indictment of Cubs fans in a very racist tone to me.
  6. He very well may have made the right decision. Possibly, but I could have used Miles or Gregg in the argument as well. I'm not trying to rip Bradley here, but point is that it really seems like Hendry is putting his decisions ahead of the team success in terms of importance to him.
  7. Please show me the time Bradley cried to the media about fans being racist. I don't want to split hairs, but this comment while not coming out and stating that Cubs fans are racist, I think his intent is pretty clear: "America doesn't believe in racism. 8. The thing that really scares me the most about Hendry, is that it seems like it's more important to him for him to be "right" than for the team to be good. If Bradley had a great year and the team still tanked, it really seems like Hendry would be OK with it. He had a choice to make - Bradley, Abreu, Dunn and he chose Bradley. As long as he feels like he made the right decision, he's fine and he will defend that position aggressively, no matter what happens because it's important for him to be "right". As far as the WSCR interview is concerned, McNeil is a sox homer and hates everything that has to do with the Cubs. He is a good interviewer though because he isn't afraid to ask tough questions and that is somewhat rare in Chicago sports talk radio. Everyone knows this and if Hendry was surprised by the tone of the interview then shame on him. A tough interviewer on a sox radio station, yet Hendry agreed to take the call. It's his bad if he expected anything different.
  9. How was that Baker's fault? Bradley called him off.
  10. In terms of numbers, I expected better than he's doing. What I didn't expect is for him to accuse me, as a Cubs fan, of racism. He waited until Cub fans are at their lowest point of the season, after a 2 week stretch that put them out of contention in a season full of hope, to shoot his pathetic mouth off about the fans and teammates. He can't get out of town fast enough for me.
  11. +1
  12. It has nothing to do with Arroyo. We just all disagree with whatever you say. :) Do I smell?
  13. begin pro-Arroyo arguments in 3.....2.......1......
  14. SHHHHH! Be careful here. You can't point out your issues with anything that Bronson Arroyo does on this board. I took exception to people applauding him for admitting to taking steroids and amphetamines in another thread and took crap very just about everyone. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT DO OR SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT ARROYO! IT'S AGAINST THE NSBB GROUP-THINK!
  15. I was thinking the same thing myself. I thought the usual sign is a drop in velocity and he was hitting 94 last night. I wonder if his shoulder is giving him trouble.
  16. I knew that as soon as Gordon started doing well there would be a pile of wsox fans screaming that he is better than ARam. It's a pointless argument, which in this case, was started by a sox-homer radio announcer, on a sox-homer radio station (McNeil/WSCR). My two cents - Gordon is a fantastic young ballplayer. A superb draft by Williams and the wsox should be happy to have him. I'll take ARam's consistent production though.
  17. And again, I would have done the same thing if I were in his shoes. I'm not taking the moral high-ground at all here. I simply don't think we should pat him on the back for his admission.
  18. If he didn't feel like he was cheating, why did he wait until other names from the 2003 testing period were released? Especially on the same day that another high-profile player was caught named from the same report. Others too. If taking andro was perfectly acceptable, why did McGwire clam up when talking to congress? Why would the testing process be needed at all if that is the case? We're not arguing the morality of taking steroids are we? Sure, they weren't against the rules of baseball at the time I'll give you that but taking andro and amphetamines to gain a competitive advantage is a pretty clear violation to me. We shouldn't be applauding the guy for admitting it when (in my opinion) he knows his name could be released at any time like ARod, Manny, Ortiz, Segui, etc
  19. Your point? I'm not condemning him, I just don't think we should be giving him the "atta-boys" and patting him on the back for coming out and admitting this when there is a good chance his name would have been released anyway. Like I said above, I would have done the exact same thing if I were in his place.
  20. But like I said, he is seeing the names of the other cheaters being slowly released and probably saw the writing on the wall. There is no honor is admitting to something right before you're caught. You're assuming a lot here. Personally, I applaud Bronson's will to win. I am, but I don't think it is a stretch at all. For the record, I would do the exact same thing if I were him.
