  1. I'm listening and will post updates: Byrd with a single Colvin double Second and third with no out
  2. If history is any indicator, this should be a great year for Texas. Tons of pitching depth on that team and the offense isn't too bad either. Defense is a question mark IMO. As far as local teams are concerned, Creighton and Bradley (*cough*cough*clears throat) should be tough. Bradley had a good recruiting class (considering they're in the MVC) but they're young. I don't care where this thread is placed. I read every comment but don't post much anymore. I love college baseball and watch games when I can and this thread is a good place to talk about the top teams year-after-year. I understand that it's isn't everyone favorite topic though. I enjoy it. *PING!* (love that sound)
  3. Fontenot $1 million Baker $975,000 Hill $700,000 Gorzelanny $800,000 Guzman $825,000 http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=4839318
  4. Good for him. Let's home that translates to the field. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-16-cubs-geovany-soto-chicago-jan16,0,124387.story
  5. Hahaha Because you know...their pitching skill is roughly equivalent and all.... On a side note, did anyone see that article over the weekend that suggested that Rothschild has been watching video of Silva and noticed some flaws in his delivery that he was going to work on. If Rothschild were able to make Silva a quality starter(I know we are talking Duncan-like pixie dust and all), would he finally get some credit? I didn't see that article but it is an excellent point.
  6. Didn't Sheets have a surgery recently? Is he going to be ready for the start of the season?
  7. Apologies
  8. Congrats Hawk. You and Ryno are my two favorite Cubs.
  9. The Leon Durham was spot-on, so was Sarge.
  10. The DH has become what aging hitters do when they can't play defense any more. I suspect the players association would have a fit if the DH went away and guys like Ortiz have no place to go.
  11. The troughs are terrible and I honestly don't understand why anyone would be happy that they're staying. It should also be noted that, although I KNOW I'm in the minority here especially, I honestly think that Wrigley needs to be torn down and rebuilt. With the exception of the bleachers, which are actually nice now that they've been redone, the rest of Wrigley is a dump. I'm a lifelong Cubs fan and bleed Cubby blue but my fellow Cubs fans deserve better. A LOT better. The place smells like piss, there is rust everywhere, broken seats, obstructed views, falling concrete, terrible food. I travel a lot for work and attend a game whenever I can in other cities. Petco, Turner, The Cell, Miller Park, Tropicana - all are so much better than Wrigley it's pathetic. I sincerely hope that the the new owner does something. I really do.
  12. Dave Otto is beyond awful. I know some people don't care for Ron in the booth, but I think Pat and Ron are a hell of a team. I still listen to them on 720 over Len and Bob. I have to disagree, Len and Bob are very good and I'll take them over Pat and Ron any day. That said, Pat Hughes is outstanding and he together with Santo are ok at best. I love Ron Santo and he is one my idols, but Pat makes that team work.
  13. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/10475170 Hart is undervalued IMO.
  14. Bobby Freaking Hill, man. I still miss him. Then stop by his work. Walmarts open 24/7 nm I'm dumb
  15. So do people here still think that Bradley didn't accuse Cub fans of racism?
  16. Bradley is going to be traded. Good riddance. I'll wait to evaluate the return to say whether Hendry did a good job or not, but it's unrealistic to think that he's going to be here opening day.
  17. Can't read this at work. Did the relationship turn sour or something? Rangers made a one year offer and he turned it down (hopefully for the Cubs job).
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/news/story?id=4558743 Go get him
  19. I heard about this painting while watching a Cubs game several weeks ago. My Dad and I are both avid Cubs fans. Fergie is my Dad's favorite pitcher and Maddux is mine. I thought this picture would be a perfect gift for my Dad. I bought two online for $150 each back in July. https://secure.mlb.com/chc/fan_forum/painting_31.jsp The transaction never hit my credit card. I neglected to opt out of all the marketing garbage so I'm getting MLB spam to my inbox. I know the transaction went through and I printed off the receipt. I called the Cubs, and they said this was administered my shop.mlb.com and gave me that number. I called that number and they said it was administered through mlb.com. I called that number for the first 5 tries no one answered. When I finally got through and managed to navigate the phone system to speak to an operator, she said that she has no record of the purchase and that it is being administered through the Cubs. I've now gone full circle and no one knows who owns the transaction. I would love for someone to take the money I'm offering for the paintings, but no one seems capable or willing. Has anyone ordered the painting successfully?
  20. I've wondered this myself. It may have been the media prying information from players, but....it honestly seemed like there were several players that quickly had similar comments saying...."he brought this on himself....". I'm wondering if there were bad clubhouse issues. I hope Bradley isn't being made to be the scapegoat for a poor season though. He certainly played his part, but it took poor seasons from Soriano, Soto and Fontenot, as well as steps backward for Z and Dempster as well. IMO, Soriano and Soto had more to do with the poor season that Bradley.
  21. Prior, Cruz, Hill and Choi were all top prospects at one point. Let's hope these prospects end up better than those did. In fact, if I remember correctly Prior and Cruz were the two best prospects in baseball.
