  1. Offensively he has done all he can do, but he is going to have to show he can play multiple positions (3B, 1B, LF, RF) with at least average D to make the team. This I realize. I don't think he makes the squad, but should be an adequate midseason injury replacement. Like the power off the bench. Didn't Fox go unselected in the Rule5 Draft this year?
  2. http://www.chicagotribune.com/video/?slug=chi-090219-ozzie-wn I get maybe every other word and I can't understand the guy. Watching the video I think the media just waits for a pause to laugh.
  3. Slider low and away, out of the zone to induce the Fuku-copter. Grab some pine.
  4. I'd be perfectly happy paying someone to let me play.
  5. Please please please let it be Pujols People in glass houses, man. If that 2003 list is ever released, I'd get a bad feeling there would be a number of Cubs on there. Agreed - but I'm not saying that is a bad thing. I love my cubbies but if any of them cheated, they deserve their fate. I'm a fan of the game before I'm a fan of the player.

  7. Please please please let it be Pujols
  8. I blows my mind that Sammy Sosa has somehow stayed out of this. (so far) For the record, based on nothing other than my gut feel and what I saw, I think he juiced.
  9. Yeah, I'm sure his problem was his poor eyesight.
  10. Pleasantly surprised. This ended up being an entertaining thread.
  11. Anyone else notice the title of the chat in BA is "Chicago Cuba Top 10 Prospects Chat With Jim Callis"
  12. Kevin Hart? Seriously? No Tyler Colvin.
  13. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-18-isaacson-cubs-castillonov18,0,2575863.column This is the Peoria pitcher that threw into the crowd during the game/fight against Dayton last season. This article irritates me. I don't have too much sympathy for the guy, he clearly had to know what he was doing. I completely fail to see how the fact that he has a second grade education or speaks zero English has anything to do with the situation. The kid is a punk who intentionally threw the ball to try and hurt someone. If he's scared, he should be. He may have just done something that could send him to prison. I've done plenty of things that I'm not proud of and I certainly don't won't to sound unsympathetic or high-n-mighty. This kid was handed a golden opportunity to turn his life around and help his family. An opportunity that I would give a nut for. He (literally) threw it away and Melissa Isaacson wants me to feel sympathetic for him?
  14. I wouldn't go that far. Dempster had a fantastic (contract) year. He may fall apart but I doubt that Marshall will put up anything close to Dempster '08. How much of your opinion is based on your frustration with the way Dempster showed up in game 1? I'll freely admit that awful start put the Cubs in a hole and set the tone for the rest of the series. I'm still pissed at Dempster and have a hard time seeing past it.
  15. Dempster surprised the hell outta me in '08. It depends what numbers he's after. I'd like to give Marshall a shot in the rotation but I don't see him as a middle of the rotation guy. At this point he's probably a #4 or 5 guy but he could surprise everyone too. If it means getting Peavy, Marshall and a pick are better than Dempster and whoever. Tex is an upgrade over DLee and I'd love to see that happen. He's seeking huge coin though and with the sale of the Cubs, high payroll and Hendry's comments that the team doesn't need many changes, I highly doubt Tex is a Cub in 09.
  16. Waiting until February
  17. Missionary Shutup BeerHere! ok
  18. That's a long time from now, though. In a way, it's unfortunate that the tickets go on sale so close to the disappointment and so far from the event. No I know. I've accepted that come April 6th, I'll be pumped up for the Cubs season...but the Cubs Convention...an event where your supposed to celebrate and generate hope for the upcoming season. If I go and Ron Santo speaks and says "This is the YEAR", I'll probably have to leave the hotel. +1
  19. Ouch and double ouch; that's approaching Luke Hagerty territory. :( Switch to catcher?
  20. http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5i1KetPkaXdScQi-4fOHUftctztjQ Why is the outrighting of a cubs farmhand who hails from the south suburbs from the iowa farm team to the iowa farm team scooped by canadian press? Frickin laser beams!
  21. This is not funny, but I can't help but giggle a little.
  22. For me, it's listening to the "I knew they were going to choke in the playoffs, they're the Cubs. I told you that was a better team."
