  1. They are owned by Comcast, I believe, which is a direct competitor with Directv, so I could see this being about more than just getting the most money for versus as possible. That's a good point. I forgot about that. But still, they aren't in a very strong position to go to consumers and ask for sympathy. Or ask people to switch providers. Maybe some cycling enthusiasts might switch to U-verse or something.
  2. Cup Finals isn't unreasonable this year, though Detroit will probably come out strong again despite losing a few key guys.
  3. Thank you. I saw that headline yesterday and thought the exact same thing. Sure, he's going to play (read: choke in the playoffs) for another 12 years. Cannot wait to put this terrible baseball season behind us and get the Hawks started over in Finland.
  4. If that. And I know this is going to sound overly cynical, but assume they make it. Great. We get three more games.
  5. I read that there was an issue, but didn't realize they had taken it off the air already. I have to side with Directv as well. Versus sucks. It's completely worthless 99% of the time. And since I decided to get the center ice package last year, and will go with it again this year, I have no need for it. Well, Vs. games aren't on CI, either in the regular season or playoffs. They might be if we get into the season without Vs. on Directv, but otherwise we'd be out of luck for those games.
  6. I wasn't even aware of this, but apparently Vs. has been taken off the air for Directv subscribers. Not such a good thing with NHL season approaching. http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118008013.html?categoryid=14&cs=1 Usually they work a deal out before it comes to this. I tend to side with Directv on this one though. Vs. generally sucks. I don't think they are in a very strong position to negotiate.
  7. Honestly I think he got caught in a position he is not used to being and reacted wrong. If he goes into that same formation later in the year I bet we don't see another block like that. I'm not really interested in giving him that benefit of the doubt.
  8. I don't know if this is true, but I've heard from a few Royals fans that David Glass is not permitted from profit when he sells the Royals. It was something like a condition of getting the team. The theory goes that he cashes out if the team is contracted, but gets nothing otherwise. So he's basically: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_zI2YCpvGIog/RsLyt00p4-I/AAAAAAAAAkg/qnW4x2QPrFo/s400/owner.jpg Now, I don't know if any of this is true, but good lord. He's awful. EDIT: Here's a snippet I found on a KC blog: http://royalsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/434
  9. Sweet Jesus I just saw the video of that hit. Just terrible.
  10. Hmm interesting? He was a starter for the Cardinals last year in the Super Bowl, and hes only 27. Now Im hoping for Branch to be released and the Bears to pick him up as well. Yeah, I'm intrigued by this also but wondering why he's available. I guess we'll find out. EDIT: I looked for some commentary on this in the Cleveland paper. There is reference to the fact that he got beat for a TD pass in the preseason game on Saturday, but that's it. Interesting.
  11. I doubt very seriously the league will do anything. Q might make him skate some extra laps. Perhaps this will make him more mature, but I don't really care unless it makes him more interested in being a two-way player and laying off on the lazy stick penalties. I'm getting geared up for bitching about hockey already! Can't wait for the season, btw.
  12. Game threads sure are dwindling. Go Cubs.
  13. Explain how it's "all time stupid". Yes, Bradley has brought a lot of this on himself due to his past behavior. That being said, he's in a no-win situation here. If he keeps his mouth shut and his head down, fans will accuse him of not caring. If he shows some frustration after questionable calls, constant injuries, and his own lack of production, he's apparently a whiny jerk. If he stays away from the media, they'll accuse him of being unapproachable and uncooperative. If he answers their questions honestly, he's labeled as unhappy and a malcontent. His teammates typically have nothing but great things to say about the guy, and compared to things that he's done in previous seasons, his behavior hasn't exactly been terrible this season. He's in a no-win situation because of his past. And that's his fault. Because of that, he needs to work extra hard to make everyone happy. That post was stupid because it disregards the fact that he is a professional athlete making an obscene amount of money. Comparing him to you or me or anyone else is stupid.
  14. I don't buy that at all. The media reported the truth about Bradley's history. Maybe we should have listened. They didn't make anything up about him -- he's been a cantankerous jerk everywhere he's been. Did you expect the writers not to question whether he would be a good fit or whether he was worth the headaches? This. There's a reason he's been through so many different teams in his career. Nobody wants to put up with his crap. Except for all of his teammates that loved him. Since ya know, he gives his all and tries to win every game. Just seems odd that you can get all pissy and offended that Milton is complaining about the fans or the umps, oh grow up Milton, stop complaining Milton!! How bout you grow up? How bout you stop complaining about how a guy carries himself? Why does it bother you that he's upset by fans not liking him? Why does it bother you that he gets pissed about a bad strike zone? Why does Milton have to be this virtuous individual and you can go on season over rants around the 2nd week of the season and do nothing but pout about virtually everything? oh my god i love this post so much I didn't think it was serious. If it was, it's all-time stupid.

  16. We don't like him because: a) he's played like [expletive], and b) he's an [expletive]. It's not that complicated.
  17. I know it hasn't been discussed here in awhile, but Reinsdorf has dropped his bid to buy the Coyotes and the NHL has put in its own bid. I'm really annoyed with all the effort the NHL is going to in order to keep the team away from Balsillie and in Phoenix. And I've not heard a valid argument for it, except that Bettman's ego won't let him see the obvious: THEY DON'T LIKE HOCKEY IN [expletive] ARIZONA! There is no question that a team in Hamilton would thrive. Packed houses, instant rivalries with at least two other teams and probably more like four or five (including the EC Canadian teams and Detroit, if only for geographic proximity). The bankruptcy judge should tell the NHL to stuff it. Overrule the BoG vote against Balsillie and set a reasonable relocation fee and make it happen. While the logistics of moving the team in time for this reason seem unlikely, they should do it. Interestingly, regular ticket sales don't start until Monday. That's pretty late.
  18. What a moron. I don't hate Jeter, because there's nothing really to hate. But I get so tired of crap like this.
  19. That's too bad. Good luck, Dusty.
  20. Saw that this morning. Can't really argue. Yeah...no information to be able to argue with. He's about as unknown of a factor as you can be. Which is exactly the problem.
  21. Saw that this morning. Can't really argue.
  22. ^Oh no.
  23. Yes. He has some legal stuff going on. He's at best a 1-year solution. He would be taking time away from someone that could actually develop as a long-time future target of Cutler like Bennett, Rideau, Iglesias, Knox, or Aromashodu. Also, that would mean one of these guys would NOT make the team, along w/ Davis....and that's if the Bears keep the max 6 WRs. I hear about the Harrison getting in the way of developing the young guys, but I would be fine if Davis never played another snap.
  24. ^Losers.
