    Aren’t they receiving the 75th pick (or around that) for Davis, who signed for over $50 million? You're right, when I saw that in double checking I thought Davis was under 50 million. The 50 million distinction is if you're a revenue sharing recipient, so Arrieta would be comp round B regardless. Dumb question but...where does round B fall then?

    Yeah it’s ST and his first start so stats are mostly meaningless but that’s a rough debut for a guy who sucked last time he was in MLB and hasn’t pitched in MLB in years. I do think the Cardinals' rotation has the chance to implode if Mikolas sucks and Wainwright continues to struggle. Wacha has had problems staying healthy. I think the Cubs have a much stronger rotation now. We should make a thread or poll for when we think MM will get fired lol. I'll say right around early August after the trade deadline. If MM gets fired (which I would thoroughly enjoy watching Cardinal Nation lose their horsefeathers), Oquendo is probably next up.

    Single game tix for the Marlins went on sale yesterday on their site. I got some good seats for opening day, face value $71 per. You might wanna jump on booking that flight as its spring break/easter that wknd.

    Word from the Darvish camp is that he’s holding out for a similar contract that Jimmy G got from the Niners 5/$137.5.

    Agreed with all of this. I think teams are not offering him a 6th year most specifically because of the TJ surgery, seems reasonable to me, while Darvish believes $125 should be $150 or even $160 if he is taking 5 years which also shouldn’t be crazy all things considered except for that gd salary cap. I really horsefeathers the luxury tax/salary cap nonsense and want it to go back to the hell it came from. If Yu wants more years but isn’t getting it, offer him an opt out after year 2 or 3. If the opt outs have been included in a 5 year deal - what the hell is he waiting for?

    I want to side with the players but they’re the dumbasses that agreed to the soft cap, which was never in place previously.

    It’s the players fault for signing the CBA. There was never a cap for years and the players caved and got taken to the hoop by the owners. They can renegotiate on 2021 when the current CBA expires.

    Here's a list of the 2018 (as of 11/17) small market teams receiving competitive balance picks. Revenue is a factor in determining who makes the list. How in the hell does StL make the list? They proudly boast attendance of 3M+ every year, they make a ton on merchandising and have fielded a competitive team for years. 31. Pirates 32.
