  1. It would be a total Hendry move.
  2. https://www.mlb.com/cubs/schedule/2018-03/list 12:40 eastern Thanks. We’re gonna be in Orlando for SB and are gonna make the drive to Miami (3+ hrs). If the game was a night game, couldn’t make it. Tickets are ridiculously cheap. Tix for the games against the Red Sox in Ft Myers are probably more.
  3. Other than Muskats tweet, I haven’t seen anything re the start time being 10:40 ct / 11:40 et. Can anyone confirm?
  4. I agree Santana’s not enough for Archer but I don’t think he’s enough for the other guys you mentioned either. More like him ++.
  5. Highlighted my favorite part. The Cubs right now are 10th in projected SP WAR. Adding Darvish would likely added 2.2 wins to that projection (over the combo of Monty/Butler that they have as 5th starter right now). This would cause them to leap all the way to 4th behind Indians, Astros and Dodgers. They would have 3 starters with a projected WAR of 3.5 or higher, compared to the Dodgers (1), Astros (2), and Indians (2). Hendricks, Quintana and Chatwood are all between 28 and 29 years old. Hendricks proved last year that if he does regress from 2016, it won't be far. There is no reason to suggest Quintana is due to regress, and Chatwood doesn't have much of a strong track record to regress from at this point. So basically talking about Lester I guess. That highlighted line is quite ironic coming from a Brewers fan. I like how he totally discounts that system can’t develop any BP arms in 2020.
  6. They think Pham is the second coming of Jesus. Ozuna/Pham/Dexter is their OF Dexter’s arm in CF was weak and can only be worse in RF.
  7. Could StL be loading up on cost controlled pitching to flip to the Marlins for Yelich?
  8. Eloy is gonna be a stud and it’ll be regrettable if Q is a 4/5 and doesn’t stay healthy. How do the Cubs have Quintana for “twice as long”? What if Eloy is somehow a stud 3-5 years from now, but Q pitched like he normally does through his contract? Is it still regrettable? It’s a win / win in that scenario.
  9. Good thing he's never been a 4/5 nor had health issues yeah, what? I’m saying if he has a bad couple of years and breaks down (as many pitchers do).
  10. Quintana is better and we have him about twice as long. Also, I'll regret trading Eloy if (and only if) he actually turns into something. Eloy is gonna be a stud and it’ll be regrettable if Q is a 4/5 and doesn’t stay healthy. How do the Cubs have Quintana for “twice as long”?
  11. I always go back to the Lieber CG game, 78 pitches, facing the minimum 27 as an underrated game.
  12. Don't sleep on the Nationals. I've said it all off-season, but I expect them to make a splash, and with Wade Davis off the boards, they are probably going to go with the group last year, with Doolittle closing. That means the money they have can be staggered to go after a SP, and with Gio's contract up after next year, it can be creatively staggered if they really wanted to minimize long term impact (basically, front load it if necessary), with raises for other guys on the back end. That said, the more the off-season moves along, the more I tend to think Arrieta might be the fit for the Nationals - knows Dave Martinez, big splash and a good fit as a number 3 starter there, and a make nice move with Scott Boras, which they seem apt to do. Would the Nats sign a jumbo contract like Arrieta this year? How much would that hinder the LT for them next year - assuming they resign Bryce?
  13. They must’ve hired someone from the Cleveland Browns FO.
  14. Big City!!
  15. Machado to the WS and then they flip him to the Yankees, per NY Daily. As Angelos wouldn’t want to deal him to the Yankees directly.
  16. If Machado wants to play SS, Anderson then has got to go to 2nd.
  17. If you're going to dream, dream big. =D> My X factor for the 2018 year is: an unexpected and positive impact from an in-house pitching prospect. We’ve done it with hitting and now is the time for the farm system to produce pitching.
  18. No doubt. I get a little suspect when players in their contract year (in any sport) magically have a career year.
  19. This calls for a 3 way deal. As long as Stanton gets to his desired destination, a 3 way might work best.
  20. My god, him in the line up would be sick. That contract becomes an albatross in the last 5 years ($140M - $150M). That’s a lot of jack for what could be some unproductive years.
  21. So you think the Cubs are out on Cobb?
  22. Signing him to $300k. What happens in year 2 and beyond? Is it then all arb eligible?
  23. Jed and Theo - please, no WWII references.
