  1. The lack of confidence by Webster is not following what’s in the Cubs Way manifesto.
  2. It's honestly more fun at this point if they don't. This is true.
  3. Theo’s not going anywhere unless he himself chooses to. He made this mess, there’s time for him to clean it up. Keeping Theo away from the checkbook is a good idea - most of his big FA signings have been horrendous. PTR wins this battle.
  4. Wish we could just fast forward time to 7/31 so we know if this is an aberration or the horsefeathers show it has become so they can start to unload and start to acquire some talent.
  5. Pregaming with some Moon Man. Can the Cubs just forfeit this series?
  6. PTR is wringing his hands looking to lock up KB for 5/$100M.
  7. Let’s hope. Then he can be traded for pitching cuz McLeod can’t figure out how to develop it.
  8. The day after the mime shows up in the clubhouse, whatever date that is.
  9. I’m looking forward to Yadi’s first AB at Wrigley this year - with the fans chanting “bor-ring! bor-ring!” What a turd.
  10. That assumes that you're trying to extend Contreras as if he's last year's player forever. Sure you might discount some on his 2017 performance, but Willson hasn't made life changing money in MLB yet so there's some benefit to locking in on his end too. Yep. Contreras is going to hit FA as a 30 year old catcher with 800 games under his belt. He won't be done, but he's not getting a long term deal. Meanwhile, if he comes out and repeats the second half of 2018, he might be out of baseball with what...$1.5m made in his career? You don't think he'd consider something like $50m or $60m for 6 years (using Bregman's deal as a starting point)? For all we know, Contreras could be Geovany Soto part deaux. God I hope not.
  11. You haven't dined until you've had a chicken breast prepared "blue". Is that when the chef is mother effing the chicken as it’s being prepared? :)
  12. Boras’ dream scenario of pitting SF vs LA over Harper has come true.
  13. It’s gotta suck to be a Phillies fan knowing your offer is legit and Harper has no interest in playing in that shitty town.
  14. Not to call you out on what was otherwise a perfectly good post, but this has consistently been one of the worst/most frustrating parts of his game. Other than advancing from 1st to 2nd in game 7 on Bryant’s flyout in the 10th - I agree.
  15. His new wife is probably a horrible cook.
  16. He could be right in that they will check with the Cubs after the final offer but could be a quick “no”.
  17. 5). Ricketts cancelling their Q&A session at Cubfest (or whatever the horsefeathers it’s called)
  18. What is the length of the deal? If / when it blows up in their face, they’ll cut a new deal with someone else. A lot of negativity on so many levels this off season. Theo looked like he was hungover in the presser yesterday.
  19. And his arm doesn’t have a lot of wear n tear on it. Who cares if he can’t throw strikes. He’s healthy. He has two TJS on his resume..... but yeah he’s presumably, currently healthy. Ok...he’s well rested, then.
  20. Teams that are smarter than us and know how to turn spin rates in to real on field success and results, I suppose. That’s all I got. And his arm doesn’t have a lot of wear n tear on it. Who cares if he can’t throw strikes. He’s healthy.
  21. Curious to know...what ever happened to Jim Hickey? Haven’t seen any news that he landed somewhere. There must’ve been some personal health issues or something like that for him to completely drop out.
  22. Keith Law rates the Cubs' farm system 29th with only horsefeathering Baltimore having a worse system. He rated it 25th last year. I think it's a little higher than that, but it's definitely in the bottom third of farm systems in MLB. We give some criticism to Theo for trading away some top prospects and other notable prospects here and there, but I'm surprised how little flak Jason McLeod gets around here. If you're going to criticize Theo (and Jed) for the state of the farm system right now then you should also rip McLeod IMO. I agree - McLeod has gotten a free pass. After hearing about the focus on drafting pitching - and continue to hear that the pitching is “on its way” - the results at the big league level have not shown. The possibility that McLeod may leave to be the GM elsewhere used to concern me. I no longer have that feeling. He’s free to go.
  23. Machado’s gotta be like, “I’m gonna play for the....White Sox? Wtf!”
