  1. From what I have heard Sean will start tonight.
  2. 'Whoa Fella", Piniella has already pretty much said that he will only bring up players he think that can help. I would expect him to maybe bring up 6/7 players and to answer your other question, Yes players have to be on the 40 man to be brought-up. I would expect to see both Gallagher and Hart brought up at some point but the Cubs made a great decision in sending them to AA to keep starting. I would expect that as season progresses you may see some starters get a well needed day off.
  3. Hello but nobody "bit" on my post yesterday about the Smokies rotation. This is actually a good move for Sean and Kevin due to the fact that with the Smokies in the play-offs they will actually get to start more. You have to remember that the Cubs play a DH on Sept 15th and they also may want to give somebody a rest down the stretch.
  4. Being reported on "Inside the Ivy"
  5. All rounds are best 3 of 5 and if Smarj throws last game may not even get a start. I know they have the Wildcard pretty much locked up and are fighting for the 2nd half. If they take the 2nd half is it best record in each half that decides home field?
  6. Just thought I would ask what everybody thought the Smokies would do with their "pitching" rotation for the upcoming playoffs. If you look at their upcoming schedule Smar is scheduled to pitch their last game of the season with playoffs starting two nights later. Any thoughts?
  7. Just to get back on subject but also wanted to point out that Tenn will most likely win the wild card for their division. This would probably add an extra week onto the season which ends Sept 3.
  8. Not that it matters but "Iowa" is playing New Orleans and get to face Pelfry and Humber back to back.
  9. If you go to MILB.com you can pull up gameday and look at the breakdown. On 2 batters he did throw 4 straight ball and the 3rd was 5 pitches. Not to worried about the BB's as the Cubs have given him strict orders as to what he has to work on. It was nice to see him throw the 94 pitches as this is the most he has thrown all year.
  10. Just to add it has already been mentioned by Piniella that he won't be adding many players once the rosters expand. Thought I saw this mentioned on Cubs.com and you would think with the number of innings he has thrown that they might just shut him down.
  11. Wazup.....I have heard rumors but can say nothing else......
  12. Man!!!! I could've posted this much sooner but after all the excitement that was created with my 1st post thought better of it..... I am very happy for Sean and know it has been mentioned in the Chicago papers that "Lou" has wanted Sean back with the team. It has also been mentioned about the possibility of a "spot-start" which would be great for Sean.......
  13. Starting pitching hasn't been a problem for the Cubs? Duh if your starters can't go longer than the 5th inning it creates a serious problem on your bullpen.......
  14. I was disappointed in what I saw last night in Jupiter and if anybody would like to know more send me a PM.
  15. should've kept this list to himself...........
  16. I hope there was no misunderstanding in anything that I said about Sean. He has enjoyed every minute of being with the Big Club this year and has also been every bit the learning experience for him. I think the first time he was called up he was a bit overwhelmed and got caught in the moment. He tried to be a pitcher he wasn't meaning a more finesse pitcher than what you saw the other day. This has been a crazy year but to say the least and being promoted to the Cubs was never expected this year to say the least. We had never even thought about the invite to ST but this showed Sean how much the Cubs thought of him. If you had asked me before this year began, I would've expected Sean to pitch half this season in AA and the finish out the year in AAA. Sean has been what some people call on the fast track witihn the Cubs organization and he has handled everything that he has been asked to do. What I meant by him being a little disappointed is here you have a 21yr old who since being called back-up his 2nd time has pitched well. I think he showed everyone the other day that he is close to stepping into the rotation. I would think that it be only natural for him to be disappointed considering the team is playing well and he would like to stay and be a part of it. He also understands that in the big picture his future with the Cubs is as a starter and he needs to throw innings to get stretched out to help this team later in the season. He needs to go to AAA to get his slider back and have another pitch to show these hitters. This season has been unbelivable to say the least and Sean knows that he will be back with the team this season and we were lucky to have him home over the All-Star break. He has learned so much this season being able to be brought up by the cubs and work and talk with the pitchers and the coaching staff that my Wife and I couldn't get him to shut-up!! I was just happy to be sitting there listening to him and thinking back as he was talking to all my memories of him playing baseball.
  17. ["peoriachiefs39"]From what I have been told Sean will most likely start tuesday........ :lol Arggh! No offense to the rest of the pitching staff in Iowa, but it would have been nice to see a future Cubs pitcher. Do you know whether Sean will be with the team in Iowa on Sunday? I talked with Sean last night and he will fly to Iowa today. He was a little down after throwing such a good outing the other day but realizes in the long run that this is whats best for him. I can only imagine that it has to be tough being a starter and than going to the bull-pen and waiting for the phone to ring. I do know he had a good talk with the coaching staff about what he is to work on and hopefully this will be his Slider. I can only expect that you will see him again sometime this year helping the Cubs.
  18. From what I have been told Sean will most likely start tuesday........
  19. Just to add that yesterday he did touch 94 several times and he could probably throw harder but likes the movement without trying to overthrow. His curveball was working well yesterday after watching the game went on gameday which shows break and movement and his curveball was moving great and FB had good late movement down. I talked to Sean after game and he stated that he was told to just pound the zone and go after the hitters. I thought he did a great job for not having pitched in over ten days and will be interesting to see what transpires. The only thing that I noticed and as I have always told him is you must get ahead of the hitters but at least yesterday with being able to throw his CB for strikes he kept them guessing. I will also add that the slider is back and has been throwing it in his bullpen sessions and looks good.
  20. A-rod has already stated that he isn't willing to negotiate during the season and the Yankees stated that if he doesn't sign before end of season they won't join a "bidding war". Would there be a bidding war for his services? the 30mil a year is just staggering and what teams really could afford this. I see the Yankees as being the only team maybe committing that amount of money for him. You have team like the angels and others who payrolls are already around 110 mil and if A-rod were to get hurt you would have 1/3 of your entire teams salary sitting on the bench. It will be interesting to see how this plays out since I think the Yankees have backed him into a corner. Remember the Yankees also don't want him to opt out of his current contract as they have the Rangers paying a good portion of it.
  21. I would suspect Hart was moved up as if I remember Walrond pulled a hamstring his last game out.
  22. Sorry Raisin but here is where I have to disagree with you, is he ready I think so. I would love to see him actually get to start a game soon.
  23. Hate to post this again but Sean not starting tonight, can't say anything else at this time.........
  24. I actually do know the answer to this but won't answer, I do know he has put most of it away....
  25. Sean travelled today to Cellular field with the club and was going to throw his bullpen session in the pen. He is scheduled to join Iowa sometime sat. and not sure when he is scheduled to throw....
