  1. Hello again, Yes it was great of the Cubs to think enough of Sean that they would give him a call-up this soon. This was a great "learning experience" for him and he recieved lots of encouragement from everybody in the organization. He needs to pitch and throw innings, it had to be tough on him to come out of the bullpen when he has been a starter his entire time in the minors. I know in talking with him that this experience has made him hungry to get back to Chicago and also that he knows what he needs to work on..... 8-)
  2. As for Sean, I think this is a great learning experience for him just being with the Club. He has learned lots from talking with players and obviously the Cubs think highly of him to give him this call-up. It has been rough watching him struggle but he has also had his moments and I think the Cubs want to be careful with him as to the situations. It also has to be tough being that he was a starter and is now coming out of the pen but the point being he still has to throw strikes. Yes he hasn't had the luxury of throwing as many innings as he is used to but this is a learning experience for him and if anything this will make him a tougher/stronger pitcher.
  3. I saw this posted on another website that Smarj. was starting tonight for Daytona........
  4. Hi again and yo answer a previous post, I think you will see Sean bring his slider back..... That has always been one of his better pitches and if he can throw that will make him a better pitcher. The curve he threw to Renteria was up a bit but if you saw most of his curves they were a lot tighter with more down. If he could throw that along with his slider would keep hitters more off balance........
  5. Hello Everybody and want to say thank you for all the kind words its has been an unforgettable weekend with everything that has gone on. I haven't really had much time to spend with Sean as we have lots of family and friends in town to watch his MLB debut. It was very nerve wracking when Sean was brought in to make his appearance and it brought tears to my eyes to see my son pitching in his first MLB game. I thought he did great for his first time and if nothing else expect him to do much better next time out. I well post more tomm but we have just gotten back from celebrating with Sean and well talk to you soon. I also did hear that NSBB had a little mention tonight from the announcers
  6. Its official hair is gone and he's there............ Looks much better...
  7. Hey Nathan, sorry to steal your thunder but from what Sean told me this morning as he was being taken to Mil, is that I created a little uproar yesterday by maybe posting this a little early...... Anyways thanks for your kind words and our Family enjoyed every minute we spent in Peoria, Wonderful people and please feel free to give Sean a call..... His Treo has been riniging off the hook but he was at Ohare at 7:00am and should be with the team as we speak and guess what folks he got his hair cut..... this is a little joke between myself and Sean and from what he told us it is very short, trying to make a good first impression..... Nathan take care.........
  8. Hello again and in talking with Sean it seems as though the Cubs will use him in the bullpen. That about all I got out of him he was just so excited and trying to make lots of phone calls. To everybody of NSBB thanks for all your "Congrats" and "kind words" and will make sure Sean reads this...
  9. I don't know all the details but this is one excited and proud parent who will be spending this weekend in Atlanta.........
  10. Hey everyone just wanted to let everybody know that "Sean has just gotten called-up to the Cubbies". Its been a very hectic afternoon since we just got off the phone with Sean. He is so excited and will meet the team in Mil, our family will be heading to Atlanta for this week-ends series.
  11. Hey folks just got back from tonights "marathon" game from smokies park and let me tell you that this set of umpires has been "brutal" all series..... This game took over 3 1/2 hours to finish due to this umpire having a "key-hole" for a strike zone. I gotta give Sean credit for hanging in their as long as he did for you could see this ump was getting to him. I saw pitches that were all over the strike zone that this guy let go. Look at the number of hits each team had for this series and you could see that all these umps were calling the same. I hate to see pitchers from both side throwing good games that are being influenced by the umps. Anyways was nice to see the "smokies" come back and take the series and Sean is looking forward to the upcoming week back in West Tenn.
  12. Vance..... thanks for the report and you were "dead-on" in your report. I spoke with Sean after the game and he was "struggling" last night. In time he will figure this all out and will make him a better pitcher, He is really tough on himself.
  13. To all who ask "where is his plus slider" I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff isn't throwing this pitch. I know with the Cubs that they want pitchers to develop their change and curve. Sean is still not allowed to throw his slider. Just my opinion.....
  14. Just thought I would check-in, Sean struggled tonight with his control and was getting no pitches inside. His change-up has become his 2nd best pitch as he struggles to get his curve back. His velocity was good and I hate to say it but "skipping" a start has pushed him back. He was throwing well before this and knowing Sean won't take long to get back.
  15. Hello everybody the family is in town this weekend to watch the "smokies". After the game will give an update.
  16. Hello again, from what I have been led to believe Sean will start tonight for the Smokies and only throw the 1st inning. If all goes well then he will make his start on mon. I would assume Mr Hart will finish the rest of the game....
  17. I would be suprised if the moved Veal for Shark, I think the one thing everbody has to remember is that the hitters are more patient in AA. In High A you have a bunch of "free swingers" who will offer at anything close. I made a comment about this before that Sean had some problems he had to work out in AA cause the hitters make pitchers throw all their pitches for strikes. Pitcher may have a great slider but if he can't throw the pitch for a strike AA hitters let it go and then of course they just sit on your FB. Hopefully within his next few starts it will come around...
  18. Hello to all, I was on the phone with Sean last night and today and this is just a precaution. Wish there was more I could say but he will make his next scheduled start. Sean is a fierce competitor and it is killing him that he has to skip a start....... :(
  19. FYI.... Sean took a line drive off his right wrist in the 4th inn of last nights game. I spoke with him after the game and it was a little sore but he was in the trainers room getting treatment and hopefully no major swelling overnight.....
  20. Inside info "Hart" throwing tonight for the Smokies with Holliman tomm.
  21. "Smokies" have been rained out...... tomm play 2
  22. I stand corrected...... just got off phone with Sean and he will start Game 1 and Donnie will start Game 2. Should be a great night to watch some baseball 8-)
  23. I don't think both Sean and Don will throw tomm.... not 100% sure but I think one will start and he might use a long reliever to start the other game. I know this was how it worked when Sean was in the FSL and who knows I could be wrong.... I also think both games will be 7 innings.
  24. Sorry but if I am not mistaken Smokies are off today and play on Weds...
  25. Smokies update, I thought the "Don" was going to have a good night especially after his 1st inning but the he struggled with his control. He got behind a lot of the hitters and as Sean learned when he moved up last year, these hitters are going to make you throw strikes with all your pitches. As for the ball hit to the RF I was standing there along RF and thought the OF'er was going to make the catch. I would have scored it an error cause it hit off the OF'er glove but as I have learned watching these games that the 'Homer's score keeper" scores things differently. Tough to watch hitting wise as they had their share of hits but couldn't put anything together. "Dope" is swinging a "hot" bat and Craig broke every bat he had tonight. Also concur the bullpen did a great job tonight.
