  1. Any word yet on when he will be making his first start for the Cubs? My family is headed to Atlanta to see the Cubs Monday and Tuesday. Would love to see his debut.
  2. This is probably a stupid question. I live in the Cubs market and have CSN through U-Verse. I know I can stream the games now when I am at home. But, will I still be able to stream the games when I am out of the market on vacation? If I am sitting in a hotel in San Francisco can I stream the Cubs game?
  3. Maybe they should try an acronym: GRF. Hm. That's kinda bad too. The G-Rate. The GRate. Or same, the Grate. ... There is no salvaging this. They could call it the G Spot, but then no one would be able to find it.
  4. REcently found out Joe Smith is Allie LaForce's boyfriend. Can't believe she's dating that loser. The dating went so well they got married.
  5. The Cards are underperforming based on their pythag, sure. But if the standings were based solely on Pythagorean record, the Cubs would still be on pace to win the division by 20+ games. Cardinals fans will be confused when they finish 20 games behind the Cubs and don't get to play in the NLDS because they didn't make the playoffs.
  6. Just get a free scanner app, take a picture of the document and the app turns it into a pdf for you to email. Super easy and fast. Except why not just fax it? I'm at work, the equipment is just down the aisle, It works just as well, and I have little need for the app other than this one time a year. I guess I assumed you didn't have a fax and had to go somewhere to do it. If you have a fax at your home, then you are right, that would be just as easy.
  7. I work as an external employee for another company. Once a year, there's a document I need to sign for my company. They email me the document. I print it, sign it, and fax it back. It's easier than messing with going to a scanner and creating a pdf to email. Just get a free scanner app, take a picture of the document and the app turns it into a pdf for you to email. Super easy and fast.
  8. With two cancer survivors on the team I think that is a recipe for disaster in the clubhouse. Isn't one of the cancer survivors (Lester) one of his best friends?
  9. The series starts on Saturday and concludes the next Sunday. I can't imagine anyone getting three starts in nine days.
  10. I graduated from Indiana State and that happens all the time to mid majors. Recent example is Bryant McIntosh who was committed to ISU but then went to Northwestern when the Big Ten came calling. It is almost like mid majors have to hope that their commits don't have a great senior season.
  11. Indy's CBS affiliate is losing the affiliation January 1 after 60 years of being a CBS station. They will now be an independent and are scrambling for programming (basically plan to show news about 14 hours a day). I think I will encourage them to add Cubs baseball.
  12. Yes. Blackout doesn't mean you can't watch on cable, it means it's the only place you can watch (no MLBTV, no Extra Innings). You can go to this site and there's a text box to type in your zip code, and it tells you every team you won't be able to watch on MLBTV or EI. Thanks. That really stinks.
  13. Okay, I need some help from those of you more familiar with the blackout rules than I am. I live in the Indianapolis area. The Cubs, White Sox, and Reds are all considered in our market. When one of those teams is on TV (CSN, Fox Midwest, WGN, etc.) we are never blacked out. All of the other games involving teams other than those three are blacked out. If I were to get the Extra Innings package, would the Cubs games on WGN local, WLS, and WCIU be blacked out for me?
  14. That basicly just counts people who are watching CSN? or does it somehow include people with mlb subscription packages? I can't imagine many people outside the Chicago area can get CSN right? I know I can't. Seems like WGN games would be a better indicator of what a large nationally availible network could expect for ratings. The entire cable deal is confusing to me honestly. They are basiclly just looking to sell to a network that's only going to be targeting the Chicago area or is it going to be something that's availible nationally? The Cubs have a huge fan base that's much larger than the area in which CSN is availible. Who else is out there that covers such a large area that would carry The Cubs? I wish there were some names being floated. I don't mind paying for the package but if the entire season or most games were picked up by a network availible nationally I'd be all over watching it that way. I live in Central Indiana and I get CSN Chicago.
  15. That's how I felt about Scot Thompson being on the list. Totally expected to see Dave Rosello and Rob Sperring though! My dad used to complain that Sperring must have had incriminating pictures of Jim Marshall to get in the game as much as he did.
  16. Don't know how accurate he is, but Kaplan said on Sports Talk Live last night that he hears Samardzija wants 6/135 (or something like that).
  17. A "surprise" delivery to a family who all just "happen" to be wearing Cubs clothing.
  18. http://www.bleachernation.com/2013/10/10/obsessive-new-manager-watch-moving-on-from-girardi-considering-martinez-not-considering-guillen/ I watched the show last night. I didn't see the whole thing, but I did watch the entire segment on the Cubs. That wasn't said while I was watching.
  19. Really seems to sound like he was alluding to Bourn. Could he be referring to anyone else in that way? Also, even a year later, it's so refreshing to hear things like the bold out of our front office. Chicago Cubs Online posted a transcript of the appearance. http://chicagocubsonline.com/archives/2013/01/jed-hoyer-talks-cubs-on-mlb-network-radio.php It seems as though the poster on Bleacher Nation wanted to hear that the Cubs were working on a four year deal for Bourn or any other position player, because Hoyer's answer doesn't seem to give that indication to me. He didn't say they weren't after him, but he doesn't say they are. Here is the portion of the transcript that pertains to this topic. TH is Todd Hollandsworth and JH is Jed Hoyer...
  20. I don't have a BP subscription so I can't tell you anymore. Nine out of ten added in the last 16 months.
  21. I'm not surprised. He loved Chicago for the short time he was here. And has a bit of experience over the last few years. What's the issue with Karros? (I don't feel like I've watched him enough over the last couple years to form a strong opinion.) He's actually my top choice. What don't you like about him, Old Style?
  22. Funny thing is that Hoyer pretty specifically said to Mully and Hanley on the Score that Dempster did listen in, and he used those words unprompted. Also, I'm not sure who the guest was this morn, but they said that from what they understand, Ted Lilly was telling Dempster the whole way that the Dodgers really wanted him, and that was why Dempster kept holding off. I wonder though if by "listening in" they meant he was on the couch in the office hearing the Cubs side of the conversation and not that he was secretly on the line. Just sitting in the office and hearing the Cubs side of the conversation would have allowed him to hear that the Cubs were trying but it just wasn't going anywhere, which would have been helpful too.
  23. Yesterday on CTL he said Dempster has every right to veto a trade and he couldn't understand why anybody was remotely upset about it. Yes, he did say that, but he also went on to say that if Dempster refused all trades to contenders because he just wanted to stay a Cub, like Aramis last year, that he would lose a lot of respect for him.
