  1. Maybe Theo or one of our Scouts is familiar with him and thinks he would make a great coach. And this is a way to get in in the orginization. Other than that, who knows. And who cares at this cost.
  2. Maybe the smoke was the talking smoke Offman saw when he was toking?
  3. I'll take Sutcliffe please. Funny, and passion for the Cubs. I've been sorely missing that type of dopey homerism since Ronny passed.
  4. Don't remember who mentioned it over at psd but there is some "base touching" going on via the Royals and Garza.
  5. Well Marlon Bystro thinks the FO is after a pitcher and that they like Manaea. Knowing that our FO likes him raises my interest too. He's a 6'5" LH who can throw 96 and has a nasty slider that's 15mph slower than his fastest fastball. Will def be watching how he does net spring.
  6. glad we lost today. 1.5 ahead of rockies. Important loss today folks.
  7. You really don't know this front office, at all. And your sarcasm is not in the least bit funny, cute, or worthwhile.
  8. In arbiteation, I agree. But I seriously doubt either side even wants to talk extension right now. We'd want a huge discount and I'd certainly think he'd rather hit the market after a solid season, than agree on a much lesser deal right now. At least he's a guy we can be pretty sure to get a pick for if we offer a qualifier after a strong season. That's if we don't trade him at the deadline. I wish they would have traded him during this past offseason his value will likely never be higher than it was then. Yep. They took a risk and they lost. I don't blame them for asking for the moon last offseason though. And now they are in cleanup duty. Hopefully (our best bet) is for him to have an amazing first half, is the far and away best pitcher available at the deadline, and we can get a very nice package for him. He's not going to lower his demands for a contract, what happened is nothing but negative for the Cubs, there is no positive spin here.
  9. I meant that if Garza didn't get hurt and dempster wasn't an ass we would have 2 young pitchers with ceilings of #2 and #1. Sorry I wasn't specific. I'm just venting still, and I will be for a long time.
  10. The long term prognosis is we won't have a rotation of Shark Delgado Perez Wood rookie next year.
  11. I think some team should do it, and I think we should be the team to do it. And I hope it screws up the draft so much that they are forced to go back to the old unrestricted way, where we can spend buttloads on overdrafts.
  12. You mean "Howe Many". We are laughing at you, not with you. at least your laughing. Do you have OCD? I do, and sometimes I spell things wrong on purpose or say something I know is incorrect even though I don't truly want to.
  13. At this point, I would be almost happy with a straight up swap for a player that is just about ready for MLB, someone who could slot right into the rotation in '13 and has an upside of Garza + a bit higher. Just one more likely to reach it.
  14. Plus they didn't even really want him. So how anyone can say it's a loss for the Dodgers I do not know. Ok we probably don't want a SP and some team wants us to give them our #2 pitching prospect, lol.
  15. The overall dissapointment is Delgado and not getting a haul to squeeeeeel over for Garza. If you take all that aside these 2 guys are intriguing and a good value return for Dempster. We just don't have an OMG Olt! OMG Snydergard! to squeel over. On the plus side, we still have Garza + some nice additions to the farm system.
  16. What the hell are we going to (potentially if they are traded) get for Garza and Dempster if we got this so far?
  17. The best deal is to now extend him. And I was in the trade Garza camp. But only if we could have gotten a teams #1 and #2, + 2 more in the top 20. That didn't happen so now is the time to extend him.
  18. When Jim Hendry encountered a stalemate, he ate it. Is that because he's fat? If so, I get it. Don't forget it was also STALE. Lol that was funny.
  19. It bothers me for some reason every time I hear someone say we can wait til the offseason for a better offer for Garza. We said this LAST year when he had 2 years left, saying teams will be more desperate during the deadline (at 1.5 years left) and maybe we could get more. Now we are saying it again, hey no rush we can do it when he has 1 year left. Jesus, at that point just friggen extend him. It's either some team gets desperate NOW, or we extend him. Those are the only options. Sure you can play it as if there is another option for leverage, but in truth it's not there.
  20. I agree with you that it's still POSSIBLE Atlanta would take Dempster. But given what has happened I think he's a last resort now. Which really just doesn't look good for our chances to get Delgado, IMO. http://www.bleachernation.com/2012/07/26/its-thursday-do-you-know-where-your-ryan-dempster-is/
  21. Hal lel [expletive] lujah. Thank God Hendry is gone. At this point I'd rather make Demp suffer staying here, it's obviously the best punishment.
  22. yeah you have three kids under the age of 6, one of which needs significant medical attention, what's the big deal about being an absentee dad for a few months Well He'll be an absentee Dad in LA and he really wants to go to LA, so. That's obviously not the reason for him (his daughter).
