    I thought I heard of chicagonow but I can't read any longer. Stopped at Underwood. Seems like a child wrote it. Spelling mistakes and factual mistakes aplenty. Then rather than, than. Duane Underwood forgotten from the 2011 draft?

    Draft pedigree is why I chose Zastryzny. Both he and Blackburn could really take a step forward this year. They should probably be 12a and 12b. By the end of the year they both likely will be in our top 10 and could enter the Pierce Johnson range of prospectyness. That of a top 100 pitching prospect.

    Are you completely erasing his TJS and arm troubles? If you did that sure I'd put him above Edwards as a possible #2 starter. But you can't just erase history like you can't erase Olt's problems. But what I'm saying is even with Olt's problems I put him around 11. Having said that Vizciano isn't too far behind because he also has a sliver of hope for upside left in him.

    Then we are getting it about right. 11 is right in the middle of Cubs every day regular and bust. Because he is such a high risk high reward type of guy, 11 is a more than reasonable spot to rank him. Think of him being somewhat comparable to Vizciano from last year where he was ranked mid top 10s (sheesh that tells you how much our farm has improved). Because even at that time we knew his injury risk but weighed that against his upside as a high leverage reliever.

    let's see bold, bold. CJ puts up even better #'s in AA and less talk of possible bullpen and more talk of possible Ace Zystryzny puts up impressive year and starts to enter that top 100 talk Cubs extend Shark mid season instead of trading him (I know, bold right?) Mike Olt proves his doubters wrong and solidifies a spot as the Cubs starting third baseman.

    Bummer for you jersey. I kind-of think it is getting more interesting because the top guys were so well covered that there is a bit of a consensus. I really like getting opinions on the guys...oh lets say from 10-30 because those are the ones I haven't heard as much about and for me (not being a scout or wannabe scout) this is how I form my opinions on the rest of the guys in the system. What can I say, guess I need a real life. :roll: It just seems to me that every guy at this point has a, "well, that's nice but he's 25" or "he's been good but his stuff is unimpressive", or "he's got some upside but has not done anything yet", or "but he's probably still injured/handicapped/dying". There's not a guy on the list that I think has to be voted here. The first bolded can be worked on/improved substantially and the 2nd bolded just means they are young. Both of those bolded can end up being top prospects a couple years in the future. That's usually what a lot of teams have, some top prospects and some future ones maybe. I just think we have a bit more of those type of guys. That's why our 11-30 should be kind of a fun list.

    this looks like it's gonna be between Candelario and Olt and I believe Candy will probably win out slightly. But I had to vote Olt simply because Candy hasn't proven anything above A ball yet. Mike Olt is down but not out. But this is admittingly his last ranking on a prospect list be it boom or bust after this.

    the reason they are (hopefully) creating a culture of winning is because they have 3 first round prospects from the past 3 years who were all chosen with the 9th pick or higher, and who have all turned out as good as you could hope. But I think the way they teach hitters to go about at the plate differs from the last regime and that + quality coaches and scouts make a difference, but it just takes longer for those results to be seen at the major league level.

    No. He has all the same problems as Baez with less power, older, at a lower level and at a worse defensive profile. But God damn does he have a pretty smile.

    Look, I realize it doesn't work that way. I realize that doesn't mean "this guy's floor is an average player. I'm just trying to be optimistic. I really do like our top 3 though, even if it is a bit on the naive unrealistic side to feel the way I do.

    I think Bryant has the charisma and character to be the face of the Cubs. This isn't the first time he's been humble and propped others up. At the prospect camp or whatever it was a bit back he talked about the fans expectations of the prospects but he talked up the major league team, saying there are a lot of guys doing a great job right now. <3 this man's attitude.

    Lol come on now, it's boegarts #2. I was a little dissapointed in Baez at 7 and the fact they glossed over him. They did actually talk about CJ Edwards, Almora, and Bryant. Compared to last year it was nice to not have them completely gloss over all of our prospects. :) By the way top 100 is in and we have SEVEN!! Woot! Alcantara and Johnson smooth out our top 7 and Johnson just made it at #100. Lol. And I was pleasantly surprised to see Edwards crack the top 50 at #42. I figured MLB would have him somewhere in the 60s or 70s.

    I like that the top 3, even the low end "realistic projection" is Baez, First division all-star. Bryant first-division player, Almora above average player. And the potential grade is Perennial all-star for Baez, all-star for Bryant, and first-division/all-star for Almora. And people worry about bust rates. I think "bust" for one of these guys is, maybe one just ends up being an average ball-player. Think we have at-least 2 multi year all-stars on our hands here. that is not how prospects work It is how it works for our top 3. Baez, Bryant, and Almora are all going to be at the VERY least, average major leaguers. They are all in what I consider that top tier of position prospects.

    I see tangled already posted "the year ahead" for the top 10. But I just bought a month just so I could read this and I'm working my way up from #10 to #1 (saving the best for last). But I want to note this awesome snippet (which was posted already) about Dan Vogelbach. And this is the damn EIGHTH best prospect on the Cubs. Sweeeet Jebusss. .

    they might be surprised, and overwhelmed. But I think it's going to be ok. Considering they hired the right team and invested in the scouting and minor league coaching to turn our farm from lower middle of the pack to top 2. When the TV money gets here all of the overwhelminess goes away.

    I voted Olt simply because a guy who has a chance to impact the 2014 season (yes I know he has many doubters) is way more valuable to me than a DH power bat who's power hasn't completely shown up yet. Vogelbach has the chance to really raise his value significantly by the end of the year, but Olt simply has more now value. To me anyways, I'm still high on him and have faith in a return to form.

    We still have Baez to look forward to. Remember? The #1 prospect in all of baseball? I don't think it's going to be all that long till we compete. At the start of 2015 we will have Rizzo, Castro, Baez and Bryant and Almora and Soler + others all knocking on the door. Let's just make Tanaka regret he chose the team on the downslope.

    Glad it's over. Guess we'll just have to show him he made the wrong choice. By Baez becoming a super star, Bryant being an all-star, Castro bouncing back to being a top 5 SS in the game, and Rizzo progressing. I hope the Yankees are like the 2009-2013 Cubs. Whole bunch of mediocrity and sucktitude. That'll show em!
