  1. It's amazing. He almost threw a no hitter against the Cubs when he played for the Phillies. He held them practically hitless his last against the Cubs and now he is on that track today. I don't even think he flirted with a no hitter against another team. Len and Bob said over the last 4 games he has only given up 3 runs. I did see his last outing against the Cards and he did look good. Not no hitter worthy but very good indeed. So it's not ALL because the Cubs suck. But it is partly to blame. No HITTER broken by big Murt!!

  3. He always takes the first pitch. Which is always a strike. And he usually takes the 3rd pitch, which is also usually a strike. . What more can you ask for?
  4. Geez let's make him pitch some pitches or he'll be pitching you til the 9th inning for heavens sake!!
  5. Has anybody ever talked about this. .? Have you ever noticed that Juan's AB usually go like this. . 0-1 1-1 1-2 and one of the following ================= GROUND OUT BUNT GROUND OUT BUNT POP UP STRIKE OUT =================
  6. He's been in our farm system. Have you ever heard his name mentioned as Cubs upcomers? Marshall, Pinto, Guzman, Marmol, Nolasco, Ryu, ect. . .
  7. If the cubs loose this game, it's on YOU roast.
  8. Bump for Marmol's first Major League start! Let's get back on topic here! I'm really looking foward to Marmol starting, aren't you?
  9. It's important to note there wasn't a winning streak going on the date I was talking about spot starting. Like I said, not wanting to take any starts away from anybody. I just wanted to understand and respect the rules.
  10. When the hell did todd actually make that face?
  11. Oh so since it was 1:00 a.m. before the next thread had started, I could have spot started tonite? Not meaning to take any starts away from anybody.
  12. Just a question as to how the line works. (looks like I'm getting closer) but how does it work when Soccer10k is ahead of me but he/she just started a thread recently? No arguing intended. I just don't get how it works? I think it was a spot start. So if you are the starter and win, you go again. If you loose you go back to the bottom of the line?
  13. I got a funny Monty Python image in my head when you said that. Of a globe with alot of hands going up, and then screams and hollers as the globe went flying.
  14. That's what I thought right after finding out the thread wasn't about Philip. AHAHAHAHAHAHA.
  15. hopefully they keep starting Guzman for the rest of the year. In fact keep starting Guzman and Hill in place of Wood and Rusch. We have to see what we have for enxt year and the future. It's really sad that we have Rusch. It's even sadder if they keep starting him when one of our youngsters (Hill, Guzman, heck even Marmol) could be getting constant experience in the majors this year so we can see if they would be good to go with next year. Any good orginazation would realize this and see what our youngsters have for next year!
  16. If only Lee, Ramirez, Wood, and Prior were ALL here at the beggining of the year and never left!! We'd probably be in 1st. But clueless Hendry failed yet again, expecting Rusch and Williams would be "ok" to fill in for Prior and Wood for 2 months.
  17. Ok, it's obvious we will be "sellers" (more like dumpers). . We won't be needing any huge slugging or HR guy at the deadline. But I don't view the Cubs as a team that needs to "sell" because they have such a high payrole. It's not like they "NEED" to unload contracts of stars like small market teams would. They'd get young talent for the likes of Ramirez, Lee, Zambrano, ect. . . What the Cubs need to do is keep the good stuff, and dump the junk (if even for minimal prospects). . Who do you see going and staying? I personally see Cedeno as a long time Cubs SS and I have absolutely no problems with that. Actually the more I think about it, the more I realize the Cubs probably won't make many moves at all during the trade deadline. They won't get rid of all the junk they need to, and they won't bring in anyone marginally better than what we have. Because Hendry has been a guy that at the deadline, would bring someone big, in. He doesn't need to do that this year. So I am clueless as how he will handle the trades, with THIS team. What do ya think?
  18. Their first born children.
  19. Well I just want him so we can have the Killer C's. Carlos Zambrano, Carlos Marmol, and Carlos Lee. Or the Vitamin C's. Or whatever you wanna call 'em. :P
  20. did hill kill your sister or something? Why the hatred? Why not give him a chance to develop? Hill's birthdate: 3/11/80. so you hate him for being a pisces? 38 Carlos Zambrano birthdate 06/01/81 And how many years has he been a stud pitcher already? On that note. . 49 Carlos Marmol 10/14/82
  21. I thought he was more like Cy Young and Babe Ruth.
  22. There's nothing wrong with enthusiasm. However, this board has been overreacting to the recently called up rookie pitchers quite a bit this season. Given that these guys are rookies and have not had a whole lot of meaningful time in the big leagues so far, I think that is quite unfair to them. Marmol has done quite well in his limited time so far...but I think people can afford to be patient before passing that kind of judgment on him. Things such as unrealistic expectations can really hurt a guy, ya know? Does he read the messege board?
  23. Your optomism is starting to get annoying.
  24. What Dusty-ism will we read of after the game for Eyre' lack of covering 1B? "My teams are not bad. My teams have good fundamentals. Just look at my team in San Fransisco. Gotta tip your cap dude"
