  1. What about one of our releivers and a decent prospect?
  2. Maddux has too much hair to be a coach. Otherwise I'd say make Maddux our PC!!
  3. I'm very sad. I realized I actually still care about the cubs. Tribune why do you forsake me so? Ok where are those bombs?
  4. Feel free to jump in and add whatever you would like to the discussion. It's not intended to be a private conversation. That was my addition. Now let's argue back and forth about that while everyone else watches us. I'm really neutral about sammy. He WAS Mr. Cub. On the other hand he seemed very self centered. Great as "Mr. Cub", but probably not the nicest guy. I think both of your stances are pretty absurd. Ones bashing him relentlessly, the other defending him relentlessly. None of us really KNOW Sammy enough to do either. You both are on the opposite ends of the spectrum, just let it go. I think a more important disccusion would be, why couldn't we have an owner that cared enough about wining that would have built around sammy sosa in the 90's/2000's. Man what a team that, COULD have been.
  5. I heard it was pretty slow last year to. Someone here said Lawton was one of the biggest "splashes" last year. You just notice it more this year because the cubs suck so much, and you are desperate to see SOMETHING baseball related.
  6. That wouldn't be me. Sure I used to "make fun" of them for that. Anyone remember this? http://cubstosox.ytmnd.com/ But you wouldn't find me complaining of all of a sudden wrigely was empty. That would FORCE some positive changes. And QUICK. That's for sure. Sure the tickets might already be sold. But that would be a big red light for ownership. That they better get on the ball and improve this team IMMENSLY. Or there probably won't be any "sellouts" next year. Which has me thinking. Tickets probably won't sell out near as fast next year, as this year. Because of the stink we are putting out there this year. And dammit that's great.
  7. Isn't it sad where I'd rather have to pay a qualified player ~$9 mil just to be a "bench" Pitching coach, rather than a guy that is paid to do that job? God, our coaches suck!!
  8. You're points are valid. I want a good return on maddux I want that maddux $$, it will be useful in the offseason I want to see Rich Hill But I do think he is GREAT to have, considering we might have atleast 2 rookies fighting to be 2 of our starting pitchers next year. Between Marmol <-MY guy, Marshall, and Hill. And having him, even next year would be great to have someone these young guys can REALLY learn from. He could help to make them so much better. And since I doubt he will be our Pitching Coach, having him on the bench is the only way to keep him around. Maddux is one of our guys who possibly won't be here next year, where I wouldn't actually mind so much if he still was (at a discount though), because of the benifit he gives to our young pitchers. How good would Marshall be without Maddux' guidance? I'd be willing to bet, his taking on Marshall has really helped him to develop. And he will be a very good pitcher next year thanks to learning from a great guy. I'd still prefer to see maddux gone, because of the mentioned benifits outweigh his presence. If only we had a better Pitching coach. I have no confidence in Rothschild to make these young pitchers better.
  9. Well don't blame me. I haven't gone to a game in almost 10 years.
  10. CATFIGHT!!! 8) Reminds me of cubs.com. Many "halfway decent" conversations start. And just end up with the same 2 people posting back and forth back and forth in an arguement. Everyone else had stopped posting.
  11. (sarcasm ahead) That can't possibly be the case. This is just an attempt by Hendry and Baker to let him be the fall guy for this piss-poor team. The thought of Speier needing rehab can't be the reason why he won't be the third base coach for awhile. The only reason has to be that he shamed the team and must be punished. I don't know why people can't figure out that he probably will have to go to rehab just as most other companies would require of their employees. This isn't a witch hunt, folks. We'll beleive it isn't as soon as the OTHER coaches are fired too.
  12. If you flip it upside down we are actually. E9 - 29
  13. yes. I want to argue that a bases empty walk is usually better than a bases empty single. Under your stipulations, it is only better if it takes more pitches. A four pitch bases empty walk is equal to a four pitch bases empty single. When was the last time a Cub has hit a 4 pitch single? I'd take the walk myself, because it guarantee's you've atleast worked the picther 4 counts.
  14. It's called implying a correlation between the comments about Todd Walker and the Gay Games. Plus, we're all acknowledging Walker as a good guy, and solid OBP guy. Not "everybody" said he should stay our 2B. I like Todd but we need someone better. You came off as a Todd hater with an agenda to rant. If you feel the need to do that, tackle the subject, not the poster.
  15. SWING and a MISS strike three! Joe Moran: "What happened there, he just MISSED that ball"
  16. And Theriot is 2B too? Are they in different levels?
  17. What's his position? Sorry I don't keep up on the minors except for a few pitchers here and there.
  18. Oh ok, I just heard talk of THE riot on wgn or the score about him and hill. I figured that means they are both doing good (I KNOW Hill is doing great). I also heard pat and ron talk about some kid piching in AAA or AA named Weaver? They said to remember that name. I might have gotten that name wrong. Gallagher? Wells? Also, I don't see Theriot as being much more than a 25th man. Yes, it's Wells. If Mike Fontenot is, on the other handing. . . then we should call him up!!

  20. I don't see why we don't start The Riot every day. He's been tearing it up in AAA is that right? Trade Walker and see if The Riot has what it takes to be your starting 2B next year. Honestly, I think Theriot, Hill, and Guzman should all be here right now.
