    No. I could root for Manny, I could even root for Edmonds in cubbie blue. But Bonds would seriously make me consider not being a Cubs fan, atleast for a year.

    I too, would like to go after than 1 hot FA starter. Then spend the rest on offense, offense, offense. Hill and Mateo seem the most ready. I am ofcourse, for going after Miller too.

    I'm resigned to the fact that we're stuck with Izturis. He should bat no higher than eighth. When Zambrano pitches...he might should hit ninth. Don't worry, Neifi will be back at the deadline. Izzy will be on the DL. Couldn't we just use Theroit, or god forbid, even cedeno? Atleast they are cheaper. In a pennant race? We're talking about Jim Hendry here. Looks like the Tigers will make the playoffs, and if they win the WS or Neifi makes any positive contribution whatsoever I can absolutely guarantee that Hendry will try to get Neifi back at the deadline next year if we are in contention. I can absolutely argue I will shoot his head, if he does that.

    You'd only bat him higher a slot or two for the dingers. We all know this. Nobody's expecting him to suddenly start clogging. Zambrano's got 2 dingers?

    That's what I was gonna say. You don't have several past seasons to judge whether Murton will improve or regress. But you do for Soriano. And it shows he will regress. You do not replace Murton with Soriano. It's ludicrous. You replace someone like Pierre, or Ronny, or Theroit with Soriano.

    Give me a team with a few waaay above average guys, a couple above average guys, and a few at just average offensively any day! Oh wait! That's what the '07 Cubs could be!

    He's fine, Dusty is just realizing a few months too late that Jacque shouldn't be playing against lefties. Pagan batting ahead of Mabry too - John should never be in the lineup, but at least he's not batting ahead of vastly superior players anymore. Jacque's wife just had a baby. He will be back playing on Sunday. That was on the pre-game show, yesterday. .

    True, my point is I don't think that's very realistic. Your brain doesn't want it to sound realistic because you are a cards fan. We'll see. I think it's more likely he works something out with the Cubs before he opts out. .

    At this point, I'd rather see Pie than Pierre. And I was a big Pierre supporter. It's mainly the money, sure he'd be an OK CF if he was $3-$4 mil. Not what he's gonna get though. .

    I love Z. It's just, for some reason, I do not get excited when he starts, even though I should. Since I do for Rich Hill's starts. maybe it's because I think he is abused and should instead be rested for the rest of the year.

I don't know if the Trib is going to think like that. Remember trib gives hendry his money. . I wanna say Hendry answered a question to that effect at a Cubs Convention a while ago. So if Hendry said our payroll was X amount of dollars going into a year hes already counting the potential buyouts. If they aren't used the Trib keeps the money, and I know they like that! Can anyone confirm hearing/remembering this? Maybe my memory is just bad. I can confirm that. It's not a matter of just shifting money around, it has to do with the way they're accounting for their expenses. Which when you are mega rich. Is just shifting money around your books and dotting your i's on a different page.
