  1. Alright. This is like the 10th time you've predicted something. Do you own a magic ball? Premonition. It exsists folks.
  2. hope so, he's been sucking! Does doubling them up on a line-drive count? 8-)
  3. I thought Uncle Jessie was married to that hot chick, and then they had babies. Oh crap, what did I do Ha haaa. You called him Uncle Jessie. You're a dork! (I don't mean that seriously)
  4. Only if you actually meant Kimmy Gibbler. Then you'd just be weird. I'm almost embarrassed to say I know who that is! No need to be embarassed. I know who it is. And that show is crap. My sister watches it all the time... It wasn't so bad when I was 14. But now I look back, and it's very dorky. I still like it though.  Yeah, it was wonderful when it was on TGIF and I was 10, but now, not so much. You look at it different now don't ya? I look at that show now and think "no wonder they make fun of white people".

  6. Speaking of Fine Job. One of the things. . . . .   That wasnt my point.. But Plesac is still terrible. It was my point. You did get I was just joking one of the things Plesac says too much is one of the things. .

  8. Wake up to Rivalry. WAKE up. . . to McDonalds. . yeah! 8-)
  9. It never did. Another of those stupid deals where Hendry just got rid of someone to get rid of them. What has Farnsworth done that has been so spectacular? It was a nothing trade...so what. Yeah but now we don't have a pitcher that runs up to the batter, does a signature double leg takedown, and then beat the batter silly. That was awesome.
  10. $100. Excuse me. [EDIT] $99.95 with $7 priority shipping.
  11. Who's avatar? Seriously, how hard would it have been to crop that pic of yours around Lou's giant noggin? Yes, we know he managed Tampa Bay. I don't think the mysterious contours of his jacket/poncho/whatever are telling us anything new about his "intensity." So now we're critiquing my lazyness? I linked to that pic way back when we first got Lou. I didn't crop it or anything. Unlike my avatar which I did crop. But if we are critiquing the size. I don't even have the largest avatar in this thread, and the sig not by a longshot. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v177/Navinda/davidpricedh2.jpg Hence my "giant sig pic, meet giant avatar" post. Oh darn. sorry.

  13. Who's avatar? http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f189/kctigers23/studio11.jpg is that sasha cohen?
  14. The majority of arm injuries come after a pitchers mechaincs begin to suffer. Nolan Ryan and Randy Johnson are a couple of names that come to my mind when asked of power pitchers who were able to stay healthy the majority of their careers. They were able to repeat their mechaincs every time they threw a pitch, and that is why they were able to stay healthy the majority of their careers. When you see these young power arms like Liriano suffer from an elbow injury, the first thing that jumps out of my head is their mechaincs are garbage. Liriano throwing 95+mph fastball's with a mid 80 slider with bad mechaincs is asking for an arm injury. Obviously Kerry Wood would be another example of this. I agree with Bruno on the fact pitchers baby their arms these days. Throwing more often will put more arm strength on you, and in the end will allow you to throw deeper into ball games. But mechaincs are key to every single pitcher if they want to remain healthy in their careers. Ah, good point. This makes me feel better about Zambrano. How are his mechanics? Have they been written about at all?
  15. He pitched pretty effective late last year and I knew he could be a decent pitcher. A very good #5 no doubt. The only problem our #2 and #4 aren't so stellar.
  16. A new poll should be made. Interstate roads should there be no speed limit at all? Aw hell nevermind there would be no need for a poll anyway.
  17. 55-56 would be a safe bet.
  18. I guess injuries can happen if 1) you pile too much of a workload on a young pitcher who is not ready for it 2) a hard thrower throws too many pitches too often (a 96-97 MPH thrower) since harder throws are more damaging than a 89 MPH thrower for example. 3) genetically some people are not built well for too much stress on the shoulders. .
  19. You can say that all you want, but you're wrong. Last team wasn't a fluke. Last year was a more exaggerated version of 2005. It simply exposed the flaws of a poorly run team. The Cubs have had the lowest walks in the league for several years. It's been part of their plan. Acquiring Soriano will not change that. You can cite all the bad breaks that hurt last year, but bad breaks are part of the game. People are assuming 100% health for all but Prior and Wood and no major setbacks. That's foolish. This team could probably win anywhere from 75-85 wins. I'm looking at the upper part of that range. But it's hardly unfair to think more about the lower end. And you're unfairly not accounting for a drastically different team. Lee Soraino great hitting coach great manager almost entirely different pitching staff (hill, Lilly marquis, possibly Prior, Guzman) You can not rate teams and say "they need to make up so and so games" because the team is drastically different. I might be with you on this if the team had a healthy lee and had the same manager and coaching staff as they did last year. But they don't. They have such a drastically different team aswell. .
  20. Yes and no. How many really elite pitchers in MLB sit at 87-89 mph these days? Not very many. Deception, movement and placement are as important as velocity, but it is wrong to downplay the significance of raw speed. The faster the pitch, the more margin for error the pitcher has on everything else. Well, he's not competing for the 1st spot in the rotation. He'll get there velocity-wise. If his movement is there (k'ed Greene on a FB and made a couple other look dumb on curves) he'll be serviceable and work his way up from there. I'm not really talking about the specifics of Prior's case with UK as much as the general argument that too much attention is paid to the speed readings. --------- As a quick aside, does it annoy anyone else who has studied physics that the gun readings are called velocity? Velocity is a measurement of speed and direction. Gun readings are just a measurement of speed, not velocity. sorry, geek rant complete. :) Well, the balls are GOING toward the plate. Right?
  21. He has a ton of potential. It's just consistency that's his problem. I think he's the type of guy who'll really get it together under Lou's staff. Maybe that's why Lou selected him for the squad. he's supposedly a good evaluator of talent, right? 8-)
  22. Keep saying that every game thread plz.
