why would this one game do that? Because apparently it's nigh-impossible for a good baseball team to beat two really good starting pitchers back to back. -

i think sean is right, though. from what i understand, not only is st pete awful and their stadium about as [expletive] as there is (at the very least in terms of ambiance) and very hard to get to. i don't know the numbers, but my rays fan friend who always goes on about this says they get good TV ratings (which i realize won't necessarily translate into untapped attendance but seems to indicate a pretty strong level of interest in the team). also, the bucs have been terrible and still been around, from a quick glance, 90% capacity. as far as actual butts in the seats they aren't too far behind the bears (which, yeah, small stadium). I've always heard both the Rays and the Marlins get decent (or better) radio and TV numbers.

Part of the fun of the US Open is that the course, the course-keepers, and everyone involved are trying to make the course ridiculously tough on the players. Nobody wants them to have an easy courses; this was just garbage basically a few steps from having putt-putt obstacles out there.

Awesome win, but Jesus, some of are you are talking like they're a terrible team who miraculously beat worldbeaters instead of the 38-30 Cubs beating the 39-32 Dodgers at home. -

It was far more interesting to watch than an elegantly manicured course where the winner goes -20 Yeah, actually it is watching the best players in the world playing on a course that doesn't look like and play like it was salvaged from an industrial accident. You could not be more of a meatball about this; a fucked up course doesn't somehow level the playing field. You're talking like the courses that don't look and play like garbage somehow aren't tough or challenging. And the bold part is stupid even for hyperbole.

I still think everyone HoF-worthy should be in there; it's supposed to be a baseball museum, for [expletive]'s sake. Just keep him banned from any kind of actual professional baseball job, which is the part that really drives him nuts anyway.

I'm pretty much the only person that made a terrible joke about the guy in imb's story, so if you're pissed off about it then just be pissed off at me. imb was just telling an amusing story from his own life and taking a dig at a shitty announcer and other people found it funny. The other part confused me because who the hell is worried about what an announcer looks like?

No [expletive], Kyle. Nobody's making excuses; people are only ever looking for reasons to hope he's turning it around because it only helps the team. Or countering dumb meatballery. Why would anyone actually just be trying to justify keeping a player who isn't useful?
