Lots of wailing and fussin' and feudin' and general whining in the last game thread. I'll chalk it up to witnessing the bizarre phenomenon that is Tommy La Stella: Awesome Baseball Player. It's a weird and uncomfortable thing to watch, like a cow talking or The Big Bang Theory. So the Nats are sending a pretty good pitcher to the mound, but for the third game in a row the first picture I find of their starter makes them look really terrified/unsure of their pitching ability: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/525x330/alt/461829.jpg "Uhhhhhmmmm, this pitch is good enough, I GUESS." That kind of self-doubt is a recipe for a dongin'. Excuse me? I don't think any of us were projecting the Cubs for more than like mid-80's in wins last season. you might notice i didn't exactly go out on a limb or think anything all that outrageous needed to happen http://www.northsidebaseball.com/archive/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=63617 and i was hardly the only one who thought that team had 90s win upside and a shot at the division (little did we know the cardinals would win 100+ games with that stupid roster). check out SSR and kyle. The craziest damn thing from that thread is that a little over a year ago there were still people here looking for Mike Olt to contribute. That seems like eons ago.

from the mlb network highlights i saw of the pirate series, it seemed like their guys were much the same. Those guys were just straight up fawning over the Cubs.

I've never been more happy to be stuck in shitty, rainy traffic; the Nats' radio broadcast has been a blast. The PbP seems genuinely dong-drunk thanks to the Cubs, and the color guy has basically completely disappeared.

That has to be one of the greatest gifs ever created involving baseball. He really does look like a blind person jumping when someone told him too.

So the Cubs have the 5th best OPS in baseball, and are tied with the A's with the 9th most dongs (11 teams actually ahead of them). It's wonderfully terrifying they've been THIS amazing with their dong factor so much lower (for now) than what we were expecting, and minus Schwarber and (mostly) Heyward and their offense is likely going to get even BETTER. Basically this season is going pretty damn great.
