  1. I seriously thought that must be Ricketts' fat nephew. Holy horsefeathers, me too. I just thought, "oh, that dude must be staff."
  2. Never any doubt that they'd win the last one, even with Hammel looking the most mortal he has all season. Not even the howling fury of nature itself could stop Bryant from sending a dong screaming out of the stadium. The Nationals have been through hell, but they must face one final trial before being sent on their way, and this one is the most brutal, unforgiving one of them all. The Nats continue their trend of sending out pitchers who look unsure at best about their chosen career path: http://mlb.mlb.com/images/players/525x330/alt/543699.jpg That mug has "OH JEEZ, I HOPE I DON'T horsefeathers THIS UP" plastered all over it. Well, sorry, Tanner; you will. Fortunately, he's an Illinois boy, so he'll have family nearby to clean his wounds and curse the uncaring gods for smiting him in such a savage fashion. Jake, meanwhile, is going to keep on juicin'. Juicing the blood of Zeus Himself that courses through his veins. Let's enjoy a picture of him victorious and glistening: http://pb-cdn.draftkings.com.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/arr1.jpg The Cubs cannot be stopped. Time to complete about as much of a throwdown challenge to the rest of the sport as you can muster by sweeping the Pirates and the Nats. They will not be denied. http://i.imgur.com/xLqouAl.gif
  3. But he's not hurting the team; he's THAT good an all-around player. Bump him lower in the lineup maybe, but putting him on the DL for something he likely just needs to keep playing through doesn't accomplish much.
  4. Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt your crying circle, guys.
  5. And the game is just going to slow down even more when the Cubs start going.
  6. This game is going to take foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
  7. The lack of a bat flip game is problematic.
  8. Soler is the new La Stella; I am now bummed to see him in the lineup instead of Baez or, insanely, La Stella.
  9. I have feeling the FO isn't really worried about something like this unless the player coming back would be some kind of Milton Bradley nutcase; the best player in the game would probably fit in just fine. Plus he and Rizzo can share tinyface stories.
  10. It's really not; no matter how good he's been, for much of his time he couldn't be helped but look at as taking playing time from a sexier player people were more excited to see. Now that Schwarber is out and Soler stinks it's really no big deal that he's in there, but for much of last year there was usually someone we wan ted to see more. Except he really never did take away time from anybody. He played as much as he should have and did well. Again, it's not a logic thing. "Great, I can actually sit down and watch this exciting young Cubs team; I haven't seen a game all week and I can't wait to see-, awwww, horsefeathers, La Stella." Everyone knows players can't and aren't going to play every single game, but given the circumstances, when you tune in you can't help but want the video game lineup every single time, and La Stella just isn't one of those guys, no matter how well he fulfills his role. There's always going to be some schlubs, but La Stella just seemed so extra schlubby. Hell, he wasn't even a schlub from the Cubs' system, or a former hot pick like Coghlan. He's just...Tommy La Stella. There was just something inherently disappointing about seeing him in the lineup instead of someone you can't help but like more.

  12. I could heat my home for the winter with this take.
  13. What would you say if they asked for 2 of Rizzo, Schwarber, Russell, And Bryant? I would give them Schwarber and Russell and then go straight to jail for pulling off the robbery of the century.
  14. It's pretty great! If only he weren't such a creepy weirdo.
  15. This person does not seem very bright. Like they shouldn't be around sharp corners.
  16. Tommy La Stella: Upper Torso Shaped Like a Seal AND Good at Baseball?!?
  17. I never though my first game threads would be for such a couple of epic series. I feel giddy. And thanks again for letting me step in after missing the first one. That's teamwork, dammit.
  18. Mainly I'm wary about what LLF thinks the Soler thread title is.
