  1. Thrill as Lester struggles to keep his ERA under 4! Chills as he doesn't! Spills as I pass out on the floor!
  2. Well, at least nobody can still say he hasn't been hitting this year.
  3. Oh, that crafty Billy Beane....always playing the long game.
  4. So, to clarify: you think people here are sitting around casting unfair judgment on Russell and don't think or recognize that we have done wrong in our own lives in various ways? How did this tangent possibly make sense to you?
  5. This is an absurdly absolutist take; so nobody can ever have a critical opinion on the actions of someone else because they themselves are inherently flawed? The hell? Nope. Just don't come off all high and mighty about it. I've got a theory that the easily triggered, super protective types of accused male celebrities are basically just down the same spectrum from the notion that many Americans have that they're just temporarily inconvenienced millionaires; dudes think they're just momentarily delayed dongsmen who are THIS close to laying all that pipe they think they so richly deserve, so when they see one of their admired schlongswingers waylaid by accusations of abuse or assault or worse it hurts them. Not just in the sense that someone they are a fan of is revealed to potentially have some serious character flaws (or, again, worse)...no, it's something more personal; it's like it's an affront to the idea of what their own lives SHOULD be like. "These damn women and their false accusations, well, that's just messing things up and ruining a good thing for when *I* will inevitably be talkin' 'tang left and right like I'm supposed to ANY DAY NOW." It's so weirdly ingrained and pervasive that you see these guys just coming up with the most absurd and logic-twisting non-arguments to try and deflect....things, like, say, creating a stupidly simplistic and arrogant slice of absurdly unrealistic moral relativism, and then acting like OTHER PEOPLE are the ones acting all "high and mighty." The world's a funny place like that.
  6. That's an irrelevant question. You can recognize flaws in others while having flaws of your own. Totally. But then spare me the moral compass crap. Not you, just in general. This is an absurdly absolutist take; so nobody can ever have a critical opinion on the actions of someone else because they themselves are inherently flawed? The hell?
  7. Hey, guys...HE'S JUST ASKING QUESTIONS.
  8. Um. Why are you bringing this up in this thread? It's a pretty important question since David gets around on a Gizmoduck-like contraption.
  9. There's a difference between infidelity and domestic abuse What are you actually replying to in the post you quoted?
  10. I guess maybe Addison's been so terrible this year since Aroldis is gone. Deny a young man his mentor like that!
  11. Hahahah! I was THIS close to including a line about "how soon until this guy says something, like, 'well, we can't have an opinion without all of the facts,'" as if at some point some kind of peer-reviewed, footnote-crammed dissertation about the trials and tribulations of Addison Russell's love life is going to appear. Your ilk LOVE going on about "facts" and "proof" and "evidence" like you're Jack McCoy or something and somehow above celebrity gossip talk (but only when it's about someone you like). Again, for the third time, all this is is people having an opinion about a public figure's known and accused behavior. If you think it's none of your business, then why interject trying to be the selective morality police because people are saying nasty things about an athlete you are a fan of?
  12. The great thing about the type of people who would flock to Addison's side in something like this is that inevitably, OF COURSE, they apply that same standard of presumed innocence to all people accused of something criminal everywhere across the board. And again: we're not talking about an actual court here. Linking to a people who unfortunately had their lives screwed by the legal system doesn't really apply since there's zero indication this has anything to do with the police or the courts. It's simply a matter of each person's opinion as to who/what they find more believable.
  13. Because (since it's painfully obvious where you're going with this) the "court of PUBLIC OPINION" is not an actual court. In that realm, people fearing or thinking the worst about the seemingly maturity stunted young professional athlete who can't keep his dong in his pants (or his bat in his hands) is not unreasonable.
  14. This is a good deep-ish cut.
  15. The masses have chosen wisely. Now, do we vote on a mode of execution, or draw choices out of a hat or what?
  16. FFS, Addison; even Jay can clobber these humps.
  17. Disgustingly, I've been putting on the same pair of Cubs gym shorts for each game during this streak. SHORTS, FOR horsefeathers'S SAKE. The depths I am willing to go to for this damn team.
  18. Scarn, you magnificent bastard.
  19. Hochman sucks, but that was weak Hochman. We've seen Cubs fans hate Ross a lot better than that.
