Dude, look at the damn seats; you don't even have to be unreasonably spreading before you've all over the person next to you. An average sized adult is going to have trouble not spilling over into the space of the person next to them. And why would it possibly matter what idiots do to sit on benches at college games when we're talking about the ridiculously overpriced seats at Wrigley?
Contrary what Ratboy Slim is throwing down here, the problem is less how "skinny" the seats are and more that it basically requires the people sitting in them to keep their legs together and their arms in their lap to not be spilling over onto the person next to them, yet it's an environment where they want you to to be able to move and eat and drink and whatnot.
Bruh. Come on. You, like the rest of us, jump on people all the time to correct for being just a little off with their baseball flimflammery. Along those lines, tossing it out there like Rizzo has been Votto 2.0 is pretty goofy.
This is a new thing with the reconfiguration of the walls/dugouts that happened to accommodate football and/or whatever changes might've been necessitated by the underground stuff they built. I think it's specific to a couple areas and not really a thing in most of the park (and I'm pretty sure all the lower grandstand seats were replaced in 2015-16). So if your parents are somewhat close to the outfield corner and a little in front there where the bullpen used to be (the bartman area), they might be at risk. Heh, that's pretty much exactly where both of their pairs of seats are (though further back towards almost being under the upper deck). Yikes...
But now I really want to find out if my parents ran into this; they're in Chicago for the Home Opener games, and their season tickets are in seats that sure as hell aren't that close to the field, but are in a section where everything was replaced by new seats.
the crazy thing is rizzo also drastically improved in these areas and became another votto like 4 years ago. like we already had one guy decide to become joey votto while in the big leagues and now we have two Well....nu-Votto and Votto-ish.
It was earlyish last year and I remember them not handling it great. Like he wasn’t DL’d try to play through and just given off days here and there and just kept running out there with it until it was too late in the year to DL him and get home back. He couldn’t even hit right handed at one point. Yeah, which was one of the main reasons I was glad they just cut to the chase and put Rizzo on the DL.
