  1. This is the worst part of it all. IMO, this team is much better than this. Are they? It's already mid-May. I'm leaning towards them just plain ol' sucking.
  2. i hate being right It's really annoying...even when they win this way, it seems like they get all the scoring done within the first 3 innings and then the bats go to sleep.
  3. Wuertz couldn't have missed that more unless he drilled someone in the stands.
  4. That's what we need! ALRIGHT! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
  5. Sammy is looking mighty good right now and is proving a lot of his distractors wrong. Detractors?
  6. As much as I've enjoyed seeing Marquis dominate, this is shaping up to be the first game where gets absolutely brutalized out there. Please win, Cubs.
  7. "Problem corrected"? "Back to form"? "Stuff looks good"? Doesn't Rothschild and Piniella realize that NSBB posters have already declared Zambrano to be clearly-injured, trade-bait material? Quit tweaking his delivery and ship him off to the Yankees already! :P I'd still want to trade him even if he was 110% healthy. Do you really think all NSBB posters want to trade him only over supposed injuries? Or that none of us have good reasons for wanting to do so? No, please, dismiss us again.
  8. The game thread attackers are back. Howry hasn't given up an earned run since mid April before today, he's far from awful. But he was awful today... BS. I don't care what his line says, Howry's been shaky as hell every time I've seen him this year. Don't give me this crap. You've all been watching the games. Howry barely escapes with his life every time he goes out there. He's total junk. Agreed. He's awful! Another pitcher destroyed by Dusty?

  10. Those are always 95% of the trade proposals here.
  11. Again! Sense! Apparently five seasons where the good is all that will be paid attention to and the increasing bad is totally ignored. Yeah, that makes perfect sense.
  12. I'm telling you, it's a Georgia thing. Corey didn't care, Farnsworth cared about partying it up, now Murton. Better watch out for EPatt. Barrett will stop caring pretty soon as well. You may be on to something. There used to be a day, when Barrett would punch an opposing player in the face if the Cubs were losing. So far this year he is not playing with that passion. The Cubs haven't been massacred hard enough to drive Barrett to his "BARRETT SMASH" rage. All of the loses have been too close.
  13. I would have before, yes, but not now. A team needs an ace as a pitching anchor, and Hill is clearly that ace. Nobody else will be close within a few months.
  14. OK, so what do you say to the problem that Z has back problems that tie into his weight, weight which he has shown he has trouble keeping off, weight which will just be harder and harder to keep off? Is that really the kind of situation you want to invest a maybe 5+-year-deal with? What about his mental/emotional/whatever you want to call it maturity? I think it's very difficult to show that he's "grown" in that area...if anything, he's just gotten worse. How many times do we need to see him basically throw a tantrum on the mound and dig a hole for his team that can easily cost them a win? What about his increasing walk numbers? What about that he's giving up more and more home runs? These are all very worrisome things that can just be brushed aside. Yes, he's been a very good pitcher and I think he still can be a good pitcher. That said, I don't think paying him #1 or ace money is prudent, because he's not showing that he is one. In a perfect world, he's the #3 pitcher behind Prior and Wood. As it stands right now, he's not even the #3. Yeah, I know he'll likely get better, if he's not injured, but I really don't think it's that unusual or overreactionary to question how good he is for the Cubs and how much he's worth if he's resigned.
  15. STOP HITTING INTO DP'S! Even if they did escape that one, still...
  16. I hope Lou goes bananas in the post-game press conference.
  17. I just realized that hitting into double plays are bad! THESE GUYS SUCK!!!
  18. Murton is fitting in beautifully on this team. If he continued to play well, everyone else would resent him.
