    I don't see the problem in letting Santo doing the stretch even if he doesn't do radio anymore. In fact, it's a great way to keep him involved with the team he lives and dies with. Look, I just don't think Santo's health is going to stand up to him getting out to the ballpark on a regular basis. When he can make it, great, let him sing. I just don't think making him the fulltime conductor isn't any kind of answer because I think, sadly, his health and age are going to not allow him to do it any kind of fulltime basis. Then we're back to the guest conductors, which I don't mind. I think playing a recording is incredibly dull.

    He had two outs that would have been long gone if the wind wasn't blowing in. Still got a double and a single on top of that...he was mashing today, and taking some pitches.

    Letting Santo do it is all well and good (it was a ton of fun being there today for his return), but we gotta face fact that he's not gonna be around working for that much longer due to his health, and then we're right back to this question. Personally, I don't mind the guest conductors. You get some duds, but by and large it's still fun.

    I was laughing my butt off watching that replay during the game. Even Len & Bob were getting a kick out of it.

    I'm not so sure Zambrano gets traded. Besides, CC Sabathia is also going to be on the market if the Indians are out of it, and Rich Harden will probably also be on the market. I don't think the Cubs are ballsy enough to do it, but I'd still move Z for an impact bat, then try and trade off Jones and a reliever and a couple prospects for a starter. Imagine if we did something like Z for A-Rod then got Harden for EPatt + a pitching prospect(of varying value depending on what the view of Harden's health is from Veal/Gallagher to someone like Adkins). Soriano Murton A-Rod Lee Ramirez Barrett Pie DeRosa Hill,Harden,Lilly,Marquis,Guzman/other young arm It'd be a gamble on Harden's health, but with that offense... Sign me up yesterday.
