There's also the possibility that he doesn't want to have to do that. No kidding; the point is that is not THAT bonkers that Harper would go there if they were willing to pay him what he wants. And, let's face it, that Reinsdorf is Reinsdorf is the biggest hurdle to that happening and why it likely won't happen, not, "LOL THE WHITE SOX PROSPECTS ARE ACTUALLY MADE UP OF BROKEN GI JOE FIGURES WITH POPSICLE STICKS FOR ARMS."

If the White Sox are willing to pay the money Harper wants, it's not too crazy to think he'd go there. The deal would inevitably allow him to opt out early on, he'd be in a big market, and it's a young team that's in a complete trash fire of a division. Dude's gotta be thinking at least a little along the lines of, "surely I, the mighty Bryce Harper, am baller enough to make this work."

Yep, and then Cubs fans pretending it's not bad news. At least the Cardinals still aren’t better than us, even after this and assuming they only have some moves on the margins left this offseason (bullpen arm or 2, rotation depth FA move maybe and maybe a Martinez/Gyorko trade and back end bench/C FA addition). And at least they either only have Goldschmidt for 1 year or have to give a 32/33 year old 1B a monster deal. But it is annoying seeing these teams in the division continue to acquire good talent for 60 cents on the dollar Really can't get too worked up over what it means for the Cardinals after next season since the Cubs' window is now and they don't exactly have seasons to spare in it.

Well, fortunately the Cubs can scoff since they'll surely take advantage of having more money than god and the baller FA class to outspend these goobers into oblivion. Right? Right?

Getting tired of seeing the division rivals kinda fleecing other teams for kick ass players, meanwhile the Cubs basically have a bag of rocks and some old porn they found in the woods as trade assets.

One of the bigger misconceptions of people who desperately want him to be "redeemed" is they think the people not saying the same thing are equally as desperate to see him torn down, which....why? We're all Cubs fans here: what would be gained by wanting to see this guy crash and burn on ever possible level? Could it just be that some people that can pretty easily see the pattern of behaviors that this guy is not shy about hiding at all could, unfortunately, likely be indicative of him doing what he's been accused of?

Yeah, but this is arguably the 3rd-5th chance. But yeah, both sides, amirite? I don't know how we deal with these abusers and the people falsely accusing others of abuse, what with how they're all around us in equal numbers.
