But it's not, because too many teams are going whole hog with the tank method. The Cubs and Astros got "lucky" in that they got in and did it when nobody else really was. Tanking is bull horsefeathers, and it's even more bigger bull horsefeathers these days. -

I have no idea how you'd pull it off, but man, kick the stupid drafting and rookie contract systems out and set it up so that everyone is just a FA when they show up. The bigger teams can't buy EVERYONE. Alright, now tell me why i'm dumb and this would lead to anarchy and madness.

I've definitely been guilty of it myself, in talking about how Rizzo will likely just be cast aside one his cheap as balls team options are up, like, "oh, good, the Cubs' billionaire scumbag owners will save money by not bringing back a beloved, face of the franchise-type player." That seems shitty and weird! Why are we at the point where we're rooting for a such a thing? THERE ARE NO CASH-STRAPPED OWNERS.

I made it anonymous and wasn’t trying to pin it on anyone. Iirc, it was something that made me sound like a concerned newspaper reader of Oklahoma. I was surprised he blamed it on someone else, he seemed so sure. was it just a coincidence that it came the same day i was fighting with that socialist bastard in the game of thrones tv thread because he kept trying to low-key post spoilers? that's why i assumed it was him. yeah, that was the back end promise after years of tanking. How do you not get that? So.........they are fulfilling the promise? Are there reports that we won't be one of the highest payroll teams in the foreseeable future? Again...who cares? They should spend even more, especially in this offseason.

Who cares? I'm not telling you to care. I'm just saying you all sound like complete, spoiled brats. This is all in the context of everyone being fans of sports teams owned by billionaires. To act like someone complaining about a team that spends $75 million vs. one that spend $175 million is somehow NOT a "complete, spoiled brat" is ludicrous.

Those owners aren't poor either. All the owners are rich. But those rich owners spend $100 million less than our rich owner. I'm sure those fans will cry us a river. Who cares?

Most of us are! For the record, I want Bryce Harper, too. But let's just be grateful we all decided to be Cubs fans, because I imagine to small and mid market fans, we sound like some real spoiled bitches. But that's just because their sucky owners are even suckier than the Cubs'. They're all just variations on the same sucky theme.
