Didn't Soriano just have a day off like 3 games ago? My bet is that he's in there for Lee. -
He's not markedly worse this season than in any past seasons. Agreed. He's REALLY bad this season. Before it was just kind of goofy but now at times like it honestly seems like senility is creeping in. It's sad, really. I'm wondering if it isn't health related. That's what I'm thinking. People are getting defensive in this thread like Ron is being attacked for being Ron, but it's really just a couple of us pointing out that he sounds unusually confused and out of it, even for him. It's less an effort to "attack" him and more pointing out with concern that this is a guy who realistically should not be long for this job. He's not "just a fan" in the booth at this point.

Let's hope he's the real deal. Get him some playing time as the 4th OF and if he's for real trade Fukudome next offseason. Slow down. If his OF defense and his walks doesn't improve over the long run then he's going to have to keep hitting out of his mind to justify making him a starting RF. our current starting RF would have a hard time justifying himself as a starting RF So why compound such brilliant decision making? Especially when it's someone who is likely to be a light hitting corner OF AND nowhere near as good defensively.

Hence why I said I don't really care too much one way or the other. I have a preference but this isn't something I'm going to go crazy over.

Maybe tradition isn't the best word but handing out a trophy is breaking what has always been done. Rivalry trophies only work in in college football and that is only because they have a long history. What has always been done? It's interleague regular season baseball. It's barely existed, and it's not like this trophy actually means anything outside of empty symbolism and bragging rights.

More of a smug satisfaction about it, imo. Ugh, of course. I've enjoyed what I've heard of the B2 Show, but Kaplan has got to go.

Why? Interleague play is great. I love seeing teams and players who I don't ordinarily get to see. The NFL, NBA, and the NHL all have "interleague play" so to speak. Why is it so bad for baseball? It's just crap like this trophy that needs to end. Just not a fan. Outside of a select few match ups it's not terribly interesting and it's just yet another thing that complicates and already very complicated schedule. I always preferred it that the two leagues didn't meet until the WS.

I doubt Carpenter can stay healthy. And that the rest of their rotation outside of Wainwright can be so dominant. The Cubs basically need 1 of Silva and Gorz to be a 5th starter since 1 can always be replaced by Zambrano.

I'm really not sure how anyone who has listened to him beyond this year can think he doesn't sound noticeably worse. I'm not saying this slam him because I've enjoyed him in the booth, but he sounds completely lost most of the time.
