  1. But it doesn't really mean anything.
  2. Let's hope he's the real deal. Get him some playing time as the 4th OF and if he's for real trade Fukudome next offseason. Slow down. If his OF defense and his walks doesn't improve over the long run then he's going to have to keep hitting out of his mind to justify making him a starting RF.
  3. Maybe tradition isn't the best word but handing out a trophy is breaking what has always been done. Rivalry trophies only work in in college football and that is only because they have a long history. What has always been done? It's interleague regular season baseball. It's barely existed, and it's not like this trophy actually means anything outside of empty symbolism and bragging rights.
  4. The tradition of not having a trophy given out. It was the day America lost its innocence.
  5. What tradition is being thrown out the window?
  6. More of a smug satisfaction about it, imo. Ugh, of course. I've enjoyed what I've heard of the B2 Show, but Kaplan has got to go.
  7. I'll bet Kaplan sounded like he was sweatily rubbing one out as he talked about Zambrano's frustration.
  8. Lighten up, Kevin. This is the first one !! Yeah, first one at home, but the 7th in the last 8 games (with tomorrow being as night game, too).
  9. Why? Interleague play is great. I love seeing teams and players who I don't ordinarily get to see. The NFL, NBA, and the NHL all have "interleague play" so to speak. Why is it so bad for baseball? It's just crap like this trophy that needs to end. Just not a fan. Outside of a select few match ups it's not terribly interesting and it's just yet another thing that complicates and already very complicated schedule. I always preferred it that the two leagues didn't meet until the WS.
  10. I doubt Carpenter can stay healthy. And that the rest of their rotation outside of Wainwright can be so dominant. The Cubs basically need 1 of Silva and Gorz to be a 5th starter since 1 can always be replaced by Zambrano.
  11. I'm really not sure how anyone who has listened to him beyond this year can think he doesn't sound noticeably worse. I'm not saying this slam him because I've enjoyed him in the booth, but he sounds completely lost most of the time.
  12. Barf. Get rid of interleague, please.
  13. Petition to change Wilson's status to "maxed out in the minors."
  14. When Ron is no longer in the booth I really wish they'd just let Pat call the game on his own.
  15. He's not markedly worse this season than in any past seasons. Agreed. He's REALLY bad this season. Before it was just kind of goofy but now at times like it honestly seems like senility is creeping in. It's sad, really.
  16. Better question is why the [expletive] do you take our hottest hitter out of the lineup? 4 straight multi hit games, and 6 out of the last 7 multi hit games, and Lou benches Byrd for Tyler [expletive] Colvin. The guy is an absolute moron. Has Byrd only had one day off so far this season? If so, I can kinda understand the decision to sit him when you've just clinched a series.
  17. Whhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy is Colvin batting ahead of anyone besides the pitcher?!? And apparently all it took was a walk and an RBI single to deem Aramis fit to hit cleanup again. Wishful thinking?
  18. THE ROBOT HAS TAKEN OVER THE MACHINE!
  19. http://tedlillyfanclub.blogspot.com/2010/04/euphoria-thy-name-is-ted-lilly.html Baseball season's underway Hooray for us it's Ted's Day Hey, Chicago, what do you say Ted Lilly's gonna win today! 20. Is anyone else having issues with Baseball Reference? I'm trying to look up Pujols' splits and I keep getting an error message.
  21. This is hysterical. Magdal has to be someone's alias.
  22. But that's not what you've been talking about. You're saying they need to go out and get a reliable guy as if it is known that the pitcher is a dependable reliever, and none of those guys were considered that when they moved for low-level prospects, hence why they were moved for low-level prospects. The vast majority of relievers moved for marginal prospects are not reliable pitchers and will not be reliable pitchers.
