  1. Never did I say that it should be near the top of their priority list. I just said he doesn't have a place on the team. And let's not pretend that this is just a crappy start. Last year he hit .237/.306/.389. He's not that good. His place is exactly what it has been so far; Lou's the idiot for needlessly batting him cleanup. He could easily fill in for Aramis for a start and be buried as the 8 hitter. Who are you going to replace him with that isn't going to suck? Again: 24th man.
  2. Come the [expletive] on. I'm already very sick of seeing the bobble on the DP.
  3. Sure he does. It's ridiculous people are acting like a bench guy who has barely played this year needs to be gone after 16 games. Has he not looked go so far? Obviously, and he just had a crappy AB right now, but it's not worth it getting worked up over him being on the team at this point. This at bat was actually not nearly as bad as all of the rest of the ones he's had so far this year. There's just got to be a better option. For what? He's not serving a very critical role on the team. He's the 24th guy, and we're only 17 games into the season. Just because he's a bench player doesn't mean we have to pretend his godawful at-bats are okay. Particularly when Lou insists on leaving aram out of the lineup for two days in a row. Again, 17 games into the season and he's only had 9 AB. Replacing him should not be anywhere near the top of the Cubs' priority list. He's not making or breaking this team.
  4. I think Ramirez should be there as well. As cold as he is, Suppan is the type of pither that he can heat up against. If anything there's a good chance he'd look even worse by pressing even more because he's "supposed" to clobber a pitcher like this.

  6. There is absolutely no excuse to not have Soriano and Soto in there tonight. This desperate attempt to have an alternating R-L lineup is so absurd.

  8. It's so stupid that Tracy is batting cleanup just because he hits LH.
  9. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUDGE.
  10. I wonder if they'd keep Theriot in the lineup by moving him to 2nd full time (if Castro gets the call) even if Fontenot was still hitting well. Seems like the kind of dumb thing they'd do.
  11. He is an 8th inning void. Though it wouldn't hurt to give him a shot.
  12. It was mentioned during the game yesterday that he wasn't going to be available until Saturday.
  13. Sports make sulley crazy.
  14. Great post. Welcome back!
  15. Yeah, man, a guy built like a delicate flower like LeBron is would have just been knocked around in the late 80's and early 90's!
  16. I'll bet the guys on the bench will say really nasty things to him as he sinks yet another shot. Oh, he may rack up the points...but he will also rack up the tears.
  17. Uh-oh, is someone gonna give him the business?
  18. Ewww, Kaplan.
  19. I don't get the somewhat vocal "where's Colvin?!?" minority we have here considering the guy has shown up in 14 out of 16 games this season.
  20. I'm just saying it's been feast or famine in these 16 games. I'm not saying that it will definitely be that for the rest of the year...but it's not promising and it seems to be showing that last year's core issues were ones that went past the injuries and slumps.
  21. Nobody can do it on their own. Jordan couldn't do it on his own. And don't even pretend like Pippen wasn't another superstar.
  22. Seems a lot of it has come down to timing, too. The offense hasn't been on the same page so far. You had Lee tearing it up when basically everyone was sucking except for Fukudome and Byrd. Now Lee is mired in an awful slump coupled with Aramis still being horrible and it's created a huge hole in the lineup. Regardless of who is hitting you've had too many holes in the lineup where you need to have some kind of production. The 2-3 and 5 hitters are hitting, but nobody else is. The 5-7 hitters or 5,6 and 8 hitters are hitting but nobody else is. In short, this team is toast if either their 3 or 4 hitters are terrible, and for too much of the season now both have been.
  23. sulley, you do think LeBron will win at least one championship before his career is done, right?
