  1. That's when all of Soriano's money is finally off the books and we're not tied down (theoretically, anyway) by any albatross contracts. If you subtract Soriano's contract, we still have the highest payroll in the division. The Cubs payroll is $145 million. The next highest payroll in the NL Central is the Cardinals at $94 million. Soriano makes $18 million annually. If the Cubs can't field a competitive team with the remaining $127 million -- and that figure will potentially increase -- something is seriously, seriously wrong. In sum, Soriano's contract may be an albatross but it's certainly not prohibitive. Yeah, I never understand the idea that Soriano's contract somehow cripples the team even if they shed other contracts.
  2. That's a gigantic assumption at this point. Treating the bullpen as the team's most pressing need right now would be a waste.
  3. Can't sleep; clown'll eat me. Can't sleep; clown'll eat me. Can't sleep; clown'll eat me. Can't sleep; clown'll eat me. Can't sleep; clown'll eat me. Can't sleep; clown'll eat me. Can't sleep; clown'll eat me. Can't sleep; clown'll eat me.
  4. Ugh, NO. Someone stop Hendry before he kills (the Cubs) again! Don't waste the first decent farm system they've had in years on an old, busted team on its last legs.
  5. Seems like he got off easy to me.
  6. I'm diplomatic: I dream of them both getting the boot at the same time.
  7. What can I say? I'm biased towards terrible managers.
  8. It's not weird at all. Managers really can't do much to make a team win beyond the superficial, but they sure as [expletive] can do plenty to get one to lose.
  9. Maybe he'll have some kind of miracle comeback and the Cubs will only lose games 2 or 1-0.
  10. So you don't think he was actually injured?
  11. What'd they say? I couldnt understand it. Ye olde "CAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOSSS!!!"
  12. That's what you get, you [expletive] fat [expletive] piece of [expletive] [expletive] [expletive].
  13. Nice job by Z to get out of a bit of jam.
  14. What did Pelfrey throw in the first inning, 20 pitches?
  15. Stop sitting Soto so much, you stupid old bastard. We're in the middle of 6 night games in a row.
  16. Agreed, this is the part I'm noticing. He's striking out swinging at a ridiculous rate (for him) and not really taking anything.
  17. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/04/get-ready-for-a-media-firestorm-over-the-timing-of-the-edinson-volquez-suspension.html.php Nevermind it's still that starting pitchers get leveled with the same suspensions as everyday players. They really need to adjust it.
  18. It would be pretty silly if the suspicions about Sosa were linked to Baker. Just joking around man. THESE ARE SERIOUS TIMES.
