  1. Magic and Kobe. Well Kobe had a bunch of air balls against the Jazz one year but he was like 18 or 19 at the time. Basically Rose sucks because he didn't have a prime Kareem or Shaq on his team. Shaq and Kobe never had bad playoff games before the finally won their first championships?
  2. Ah okay then. That completely negates all of that statistical evidence and makes the comparisons horrid. What statistical evidence? The statistical evidence that compares Rose to 4 really good players including two of the best of all time to two guys who were really talented but didn't have their heads on quite right? I mean I guess it's not a horrid comparison but I'm not sure I see the point. illiniguy named two guys which were called horrid comparisons. Those 2 guys are #1 and #4 on his similarity score list. Therefore they're not horrid. I like Rose and he's obviously more mature, humble and level-headed than those two but he still has some of the same concerns on the court. They're "horrid comparisons" because the same site is basically saying "he might be Marbury...he might be Kobe." There's a gigantic gulf between those players.
  3. Pour me a chalice full of Haterade, slave. But seriously, point me a single superstar NBA player that didn't have moments/games/series like this. It's an inherent part of becoming a better player.
  4. The Bulls can't afford to get that much uglier.
  5. Nah, his psyche is probably damaged. Let's check with cubbyvirus.
  6. Come on now. I'm not trying to hate. He had an amazing season. And great point guards that are so atheletic can peak very early. Ask Steve Francis and Stephon Marbury. He had an amazing season despite displaying key flaws indicative of a very young player. And those aren't very accurate comparisons.
  7. Exactly. Listen to the post-game radio tonight and you'll hear tons of callers talking like he's peaked and how he's a "choker" and blah-blah-blah. This is what players and teams have to go through until they finally punch through. It sucks, but that's the NBA. The future still looks VERY bright for the Bulls. This awesome season was just the start. I want to get upset at him but when I take a step back and realize that very few players have had seasons like his at his age. If he improves like most players improve, Rose is going to be an amazing, amazing player in this league and you will think that will translate to the playoffs more consistently sooner than later. Definitely. He frustrated me plenty in the playoffs, and especially this last series, but then when you remember how young he is and how long he's going to be with this team and how much better he can potentially get it helps.
  8. All so very true. Yeah, this series has been brutal and tonight was just another stab in the heart, but they're in a great position to just get even better. Can't wait for next season.
  9. Dude, stop. It's embarrassing. Every team has had [expletive] like that happen before. Calm down. I love that he acts as if the Blackhawks don't exist. yeah, it's ok cuz they won once in 60 years Just because you're a bandwagon fan doesn't mean the 90's weren't [expletive] awesome for us Bulls fans. Wicked sick burn.
  10. Exactly. Listen to the post-game radio tonight and you'll hear tons of callers talking like he's peaked and how he's a "choker" and blah-blah-blah. 11. Incredible comeback for the Heat. Gotta give credit to the better team. Pretty impressive. Here's to next year.
  12. Ideally, yes. However, you can succeed even if you're not in an ideal situation. The position the Cubs are in has them with a couple guys with fringy superstar potential (McNutt, Brett Jackson), a huge boom/bust guy (Vitters), and a ton of players who project to anywhere from decent ML starters to very good starters. Ideally you have more superstar caliber guys in your system, but the Cubs don't. There's nothing you can really do about that in the short term, however, so the key is working with that the best you can. If you can fill 20-23 spots on your roster cheaply with those guys, then you combine the third highest payroll in the majors and you have more money than most teams to go get a couple of guys like Pujols, Fielder, Hernandez, Votto, Kemp, Reyes, etc. Is it the best position to be in? No, but it's a very winnable situation given the upcoming options in free agency, the money the Cubs have to spend and Hendry's ability (if he's still the GM after this year) to go out and get good values in trades. Couldn't agree more.
  13. A WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNN. Today is the start of an 8-game win streak. I DECLARE IT SO.
  14. Where the hell is he gonna play for us? SS. Move Castro over to 2B.
  15. It's OK, Reyes. Just stay at Wrigley. Those Mets don't appreciate you like I would.
  16. When was the last time Marmol had to appear in a save situation? Seems like the Cubs are either losing or blowing the other team out when he comes in these days just to get work.
  17. Fukusexy. Really wish the Cubs could play the Mets at least 40 times this season.
  18. It's more than what you are willing to spend. It's what you are willing to spend in contrast to what all the other big spenders are spending, and what is available. Unless you are the Yankees, signing a middle of the order bat and an ace pitcher is nearly impossible. Again, it's up to the Ricketts. If they're willing to keep the payroll at approx. $150 million if necessary then the Cubs would potentially have in the vicinity of $50-$60 million to spend. That would easily cover both if both are available. Then they have even more money coming off the books after 2012.
  19. Managers tend to favor veterans, even [expletive] ones. I still like that "since he's not good at the bat everybody just assumes he's a quality defensive catcher" theory that somebody put out there. He's just an experience crappy catcher. Isn't the opposite true for Soto? Wasn't he considered a good defensive catcher in the minors until he raked in AAA in 2007 and then won the ROY award in 2008? Yeah, Soto's reputation was as being a solid catcher defensively and just OK at best with the bat until he broke out.
  20. Managers tend to favor veterans, even [expletive] ones. I still like that "since he's not good at the bat everybody just assumes he's a quality defensive catcher" theory that somebody put out there. He's just an experience crappy catcher. And if you win a game with such a player, managers will always try and place part of the credit on that crappy catcher for some reason. Yeah, they just glom on to these journeyman catchers like they must be defensive gurus since they suck so much with the bat. Hill has the added mystique of the mangled hand and being a switch-hitter, so he might as well be a walking good luck charm for managers.
  21. As fair as you may be treating them, you are still talking about filling both an ace role and middle of the order hitter in free agency, which is next to impossible for anybody outside the Yankees. It's all up to what the Ricketts are willing to spend. If they're willing to keep this year as a rough ceiling as to what the Cubs can spend then they're going to have a LOT to spend after this season and the next, to the point they that could conceivably sign someone like Pujols or Fielder + Reyes this year, someone like Kemp next year and still have more than enough money for a true ace.
