  1. So that's the threshold for "psyche-damaging?" Not sure what you're getting at, but Rose has immense pressure in his hometown and this will be a long offseason for the young guy. What I'm getting at is your ridiculous idea that having three bad games against the Heat in the ECF is going to "damage his psyche." What good or great players DON'T have humbling losses like this? It's part of developing into a better player when you're as young as him.
  2. That's a terrible reason. Realizing where the player is likely going to be in conjunction with the team's progression isn't a terrible reason. If you're convinced that Pujols is on a serious decline, fine, but to pass on a player of his ideal impact simply because the team isn't better is usually a terrible idea given how many wins he ideally brings if he's signed. The Cubs would have to be REALLY bad to justify that.
  3. And most of those Web Gems? Those are mostly due to balls that are driven, not dinky little rollers to an infielder for the bajillionth time. Every so often you'll get someone doing something awesome with a ball off of a bunt or swinging bunt, but not usually.
  4. Like who? Bulls fans have bitched nonstop about all 3 teams the Bulls faced in the playoffs. Would it have been better if they lose to the Celtics or Magic instead?
  5. I don't have the numbers to support this, but wasn't baseball far more popular during the steroid era, when home run records were falling left and right? I understand that some people, like yourself and maybe some others on the board, would like that type of game, but that doesn't mean it's good for the game if it doesn't appeal to the casual fans. By what measure? Attendance or relevance? I think attendance numbers were high during the 90's and 2000's for baseball (as with a lot of sports) but I would definitely say that baseball is less relevant than 20 years ago. And a large part of the complaint is that games simply take too long without enough action to support it. And the most dynamic action in the game is due to power hitters. That only happens about once every hour and a half though in a normal game. Not nearly enough for the attention span of most people. It's still the biggest draw.

Yeah, I would have real doubts about baseball being able to come out OK from another "pitcher's era."
  8. Bourn's career in Houston thus far: .263 .332 .347 .679 84 Ye gads.
  9. I already do.
  10. What's horrific about it? Sure, scoring is down which is a negative. There are shorter ballgames (through both less hits and more incentives to find pitchers who throw strikes since walks would become much more valuable for an offense). This would lead to balls being put into play more and just more action on the field. I don't know how a game filled with more Juan Pierres and Scotty Podseseseses and Michael Bourns isn't horrific. Oh, yes, more thrilling action in the field...will they ground out to SS or to 2B this time?
  11. I don't understand how that scenario isn't horrific.
  12. And more importantly wins your heart with a million love points.
  13. Oh God, I'd give up on baseball.
  14. Ugh, gross. Speed declines so much quicker and more dramatically.
  15. Damn this stupid lack of steroids and amphetamines. I hope all of you "baseball purist" nerds are happy. You've ruined a great game with your nerdery.
  16. Ah well. Good thing they can buy him out after this season.
  17. He's speed looks fine. He's just running into walls of players off of crappy screens.
  18. Nobody is talking about [expletive] Bogans when they say the Bulls need a shooter. Well I hate to break it to you, but Kieth ended the season at 38% from 3 and is shooting 45% from 3 from the playoffs. One would think that would be effective if thats all you needed from your SG. The problem is that Kieth can't do anything else. Hence why everyone's been saying the Bulls' most glaring need is a quality #2 guard. Well you said they needed a quality shooter. I'll assume you misspoke and meant SG. The most glaring need of that glaring need is the shooting ability of the #2 guard. It needs to be an all-around player who can make plays, but primarily he needs to be a shooter. That's just painfully obvious.
  19. So that's the threshold for "psyche-damaging?"

  21. Like I said before, ultimately this is a good learning experience for a young team. Yeah, it sucks to flame out like this, but these are the kind of things that the Bulls, Rose especially, need to experience and learn how to overcome in the future.
