    Even when the Cubs are good I can't stand the trips out west. The crappy late start times, the stupidly cavernous ballparks where power dies...just a parade of a tedious, boring games more often than not.

    Pretty much all of my awareness of the minors comes from here, but it seems like the general consensus is that Jackson has hit a speedbump in terms of his patience at the plate. I'm assuming that bringing him up now starts the clock sooner than if he were just called up in September...so why would they do this?

    Unbelievable. I guess 2 triples in a game makes up for how he's put this line up over the last 4 weeks (during which he managed to start a whopping 14 games, y'know, because he's so amazing and all and surely the Rockies would want him out there as much as possible): .182 .250 .364 .614 complete with 19 strikeouts in 61 PA. His July as a whole was a sunny .200 .263 .457 .720 with 22 strikeouts in 77 PA. Kaplan is unbearable. If he wants to pull for the guy, great, but don't be so disingenuous about it, especially when your [expletive] job is supposedly to analyze sports.

    Fuld does have a very impressive Wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Fuld I had no idea that the mothers of grown men were writing wikipedia entries for their sons now. Holy hell, that Fuld entry is insane. I think it's a safe bet we now know how he's been spending his time off post-surgery.

    Probably until the arrival of Jackson and Sappelt in September. I just looked up Sappelt's numbers this year...ouch. It's arguable he'd actually be a downgrade from LaHair.

    Sveum said he is meeting with the brass tomorrow, and the topic of call-ups for guys like Vitters and Jackson would be brought up. Reading between the lines, I wonder if Dale is going to push to get another OF. LaHair since 5/3: 229 PA, .223/.301/.345/.646, 75 K God almighty, that is hideous.
