  1. I'd argue he's an overall better baserunner this year.
  2. Pretty much this. It's simply far, far too early in his career and in this slump for the histrionics of being worried about him or declaring things a disaster.
  3. Beloved futility.
  4. Beloved hair.
  5. probably back when homeboy whatever his name is hit those shots on a broken leg and was a national hero ever since. your face is crazy talk now sit down before you lose your pants. Beloved player.
  6. '01 Yankees on a technicality? That lasted about a week. I dunno, when someone says "beloved" I'm picturing a team that people love for more than just the playoffs or a certain player or the championship or even a single season. A NYC superteam would be good for business, but they'd be even bigger villains than the Heat.
  7. Are you talking to me? I'm saying he still projects to be a really good player throughout his prime. But that this season (on offense) has been disastrous compared to what was hoped for as progression for a 22 year old that was on a HOF track. This isn't really a thing. I mean, yes, you expect/hope for continual improvement, but to act like an offensive hiccup at age 22 of a player like this is a "disaster" is just ridiculous.
  8. Since we're contemplating Starlin's HOF-worthiness, were people freaking out when ARod's OPS dropped 200 points from his age 20 season to his age 21 season? Granted, we're talking about going from 1.045 to .846, but hey, let's live the dream!
  9. Yeah, only Tim is pointing out facts.
  10. When the hell was the last time a NYC team was actually nationally beloved? That's crazy talk.
  11. The sponsor on Castro's BR page sums it up very poetically:
  12. i can see the average casual fan being more apt to watch the finals featuring the lakers and heat, but fan support is going to wane in the bigger markets if players flock to cities like miami and la, where sports generally take a backseat to whatever else there is there. Does it really matter where the super teams exist so long as they simply exist, period? It's not like it would be any more difficult these days to follow a super team in, say OKC or Milwaukee as opposed to NYC or Chicago.
  13. Well, maybe. Don't get me wrong, I completely agree with you on the former point; it's hilarious the sheer number of people ready to write off both after their first and second games, respectively. That said, prospects are such a crap shoot to begin with, and both have rather critical flaws, that it wouldn't be all that surprising at all if neither ends up sticking as impact players or even as regulars.
  14. Well, at least Jackson made decent contact.
  15. He's just firing wildly! Nobody is safe!
  16. That Soriano guy is pretty swell.
  17. Well, that's ironic.
  18. Now Castro joins the error parade.
  19. Jesus, Tim; you don't need the traffic THAT badly.
  20. Yes, that's a big guy who has to play 1B and will have to hit as a DH sooner rather than later to maintain his value.
  21. Yeah, if anything this year makes me even more excited for his future. We know he can hit and steal bases...but now he can defend, too. That's a combination that equates to beast mode for a long time.
  22. It's like Aramis Fan's dream game.
