  1. Pretty much. If guys in the minors keep progressing and the FO is confident it makes Stewart redundant, great. If they end up holding on to him just to give the prospects more time and because the 3B market sucks and they want to see what he can do, works for me.
  2. To be fair, Pierre is actually useful this year and if they don't have to give up much could be a decent pick-up since he's only signed through this season.
  3. Rozner was saying a lot of dumb things about other sports too. I like Mulley and Hanley, but man, the fill in hosts often leave much to be desired on that show. Yesterday he was gloating that Aramis is only hitting well now that the Brewers are out of it, "just like he's always done." The glee in his voice was just so punchable. Yes, Aramis starts slow and usually doesn't have an impressive April. Yes, he's on his hottest streak right now. You know what else he did this year? Hit .274 .364 .484 .848 in May. And .295 .374 .523 .896 in June. Yet here you have this asshat talking like he's been a bust until about 2 weeks ago.
  4. I get that you prefer natural food, but it's faulty to deem anything not natural as being automatically bad for people.
  5. Why not? That makes it sound like anything artificial is bad for us. Me, I'd love it if we could get to a Jetsons era of just eating food pills.
  6. Why does this thread keep popping to the top of the list? Stewart hasn't played in a month and a half and he's not coming back any time soon. It's reasonable to think he'll never play for the Cubs again. Why, is he going to die?
  7. As already stated, the whole nickname thing is pretty redundant when your last name IS a nickname.
  8. What, "engineered" foods? Why? It's [expletive] awesome and future-y.
  9. This is hours late, but I had the misfortune of listening to the Score this morning, and there few things baseball-related more detestable than hearing Barry Rozner tear down Aramis Ramirez.
  10. Well, if we're including "over the centuries" then it seems to faulty to try and pin this down to a simplistic "booo, cities are killing us" theory since a major city like Chicago isn't the polluted cesspool it was before. Cities can evolve and change for the better environmentally and health-wise.
  11. I'm still trying to get over the fact that a game I play drunk is an Olympic sport. You can pole vault drunk if you want to. Hell, you're drunk; you can do whatever you want.
  12. Farms and farmers suck; vive la city. Serious point: aren't you potentially kind of contradicting yourself when you bemoan people getting "more" cancer and getting it younger by then immediately pointing out how we can detect it better and earlier than ever before? I mean, I could easily be completely wrong and there are numbers that show that statistically speaking we are getting cancer at increasing rates and also with the ages getting younger, but it seems almost completely self-fulfilling that it's going to seem like there's more cancer BECAUSE we're able to better diagnose it and diagnose it sooner.
  13. Look at me, wallowing in my own crapulence over here.
  14. But the Cubs aren't going to be good until they trade Soriano and hose down Hendry's favorite chair or something.
  15. Many people don't consider 'just making the playoffs a success' like you do. They did win the WS and that's still something we can't say. The failure of Hendry still hangs over this club and will until we dump Soriano, etc... I'm no fan of Kenny but he's managed on a smaller budget and is apparently a better judge of value than Hendry ever was. They're basically the same GM.
  16. I hate Williams and Reinsdorf, but I've got to admit somehow Williams gets things done. Don't forget that "horrible system" has produced a bunch of players on the ML roster as well as the trade bait necessary to get the veterans to make a run for the playoffs. Most of those players suck and the team usually sucks. How the hell is this "getting things done?"
  17. This is going to be entertaining if every page is Theo freaking out about something and then Banedon slapping him around.
  18. Seriously, the awesomeness of the archery match has ruined any interest in anything unless it's Phelps or Bolt; it's all downhill otherwise.
  19. That certainly refers to the incidents he had with Felix Pie.
  20. Just when you think Phil Rogers has reached the peak of stupidity, he comes up with this gem. I would love it if this trade would happen. We could then try to flip Pena to the Dodgers along with Dempster or Garza. Unfortunatley, last I checked The Rays had not yet replaced Andrew Friedman with a chimpanzee. Well thought out.
  21. Yeah, I was way more invested in that than I thought I would be. I'll bet they were distracted by the one Italian guy who looked like a disguised mob witness.
  22. There's a U.S. archer named Wukie.
  23. I mean you only seem to make posts involving the Cardinals. On a Cubs board. It's odd.
