  1. The crowd's reaction is pretty great.
  2. What a special little flower.
  3. I've got a co-worker who put down $20 that Rose was going to pull off a surprise return against the Heat tonight. I thought about the myriad ways I could argue this and then just shut up and enjoyed the insanity.
  4. The Campana trade might comically impact both the Cubs' and Diamondbacks' rankings!
  5. Holy [expletive], Sullivan; there's so much wrong with that statement I don't even know where to begin. Sorry for ever doubting you, WSR, though I'm already doing it again as I type this.
  6. That's exactly the kind of thing that would be pounced on by @FacebookCubs. There might have been one godforsaken mook saying that who WSR inexplicably follows, but otherwise he just made it up.
  7. Man, Rizzo has some serious Jim Thome-style-goober-face going on there.
  8. Who is saying this? Show me. Terrible at 2B and SS, tolerable elsewhere.
  9. Uhhhhhhhhhhh.
  10. Sure, but nobody is saying he doesn't have a baseball ability that he's good at; there's a huge difference between that and actually having a useful enough player that you can justify giving a roster spot to.
  11. Wow, really? I had no idea; I still thought it was a lot higher than that.
  12. Right; he's basically only useful as a pinch-runner since he can't really get on base enough himself. That write-up seems like a rather unsuccessful attempt to put lipstick on a pig.
  13. I'd say this was pathetic trolling even for Kyle, but it worked, so we suck.
  14. Me neither, but given the insane numbers we've seen tossed out for the Dodgers and Rangers part of me thinks that whatever it would be would be really, really worth it. But wouldn't CSN know that too, and therefore ask for the moon? I really have little understanding of how this all works. And since they own 25% of it, how does that work? Is this basically just Reinsdorf's call (since, I'm guessing, he owns 50% or so of it)? Well, sure, they could ask for something insane, but they obviously know there's a limit as to what they'd actually get. Whatever projected revenue they'd get off of the Cubs for the rest of the deal + whatever extra on top is negotiated. Maybe something like they'd get an annual small percentage of the Cubs' new media deal for a certain period of time? I'd have to imagine something like that would have some appeal since otherwise it's obvious the Cubs will just leave after 2019.
  15. This is the ballin'-est [expletive] EVER, son.
  16. I'm pretty sure he's making the team. But what if he's absolute garbage in ST? Then surely Kyle would want him not making....ooooohhhhh, riiiiiiiiiight, he hates that, too. He shouldn't be making the team no matter what he does in spring training. But if we somehow luck into the right decision through a bad process, I'll call it a draw. You shouldn't be calling it anything. It's essentially a non-issue.

  19. GEE, IT'S LIKE HE MIGHT NOT EVEN MAKE THE TEAM, LIKE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SAYING.
  20. Nix is pretty much the only one you could make that argument about unless you want to continue hiding behind selective generalizations and pretending things like Old Man Cairo who was terrible last year is a preferable option.
  21. That photo makes it look like he suffered a stroke that somehow effected his face and his hair.
  22. Saying "I trust the FO" is very different than "I think they never make mistakes." Yeah, the Mather signing sucked more than a 25th man signing almost always would, but if you're going to sit there and act like you knew he'd have been THAT bad then you're just a hilarious and hideous liar. Half of the guys you listed above were terrible last year (and one is older than dirt) and the other half were barely any better than Lillibridge. Odds are pretty safe that griping about this is the epitome of splitting hairs. If somehow you luck into them having signed a 25th man with a -2 WAR season, hey, congratulations.
