  1. Yes, as opposed to the sterling rep that Chicago has. Or anywhere in Illinois.
  2. And it's just a reminder of how great it can be when you can draft really well.
  3. I think September 2014 is a best-case scenario., and that's as a September "let him hang out in the clubhouse for the last week or two" call-up. The best case scenario for a top-20 prospect starting at high-A this season is two weeks in the big leagues in September of next year? In the specific case of this prospect and this front office? Yes. Well, that's ridiculous.
  4. The simple version is that they get him for six years, with the first year possibly not counting if you hold him down for part of it. When you want to start that clock is up to you. But he's not close to ready. He was last seen in a competitive environment struggling with A+ and the AFL. He's still two years away, easily. Not two full years, easily. Definitely not. So what's the likely plan position-wise? Moving him to 2B?
  5. That is a beautifully hideous monster of a swing.
  6. I've got more action than my man John Woo And I've got mad hits like I was Rod Carew
  7. On my computers/devices I have it favorite-ed to the active topics page, but it was somebody else's computer and I was too lazy to type anything beyond "nsbb.com."
  8. So if you got to NSBB.com right now you see a white screen with this line of text at the top: Tim pissing off people like he's Doc Brown or some [expletive].
  9. Dude just loves Carlton that much.
  10. Yeah, but he DOES seem really dumb. Or, he's not very excited about the team and what it can accomplish. i think that's a much worse thing to say about him in regards to his return I know. His brother opened the door to it. I shouldn't repeat it, or attribute it to Derrick, but I can't help but wonder since it isn't making much sense to me right now. Then he's still an idiot; the quality of the team shouldn't impact his efforts to rehab from the injury and figure out just what the hell kind of player he is at this point.
  11. Yeah, but he DOES seem really dumb.
  12. Wikipedia says it is "a common injury in baseball players." Notable cases Jose Canseco, Oakland Athletics outfielder (1989) Ken Griffey, Jr., Seattle Mariners outfielder (1996) Jim Thome, Cleveland Indians first baseman (1996) Eric Hinske, Atlanta Braves first baseman (2003) Ryan Kalish, Boston Red Sox outfielder (2007) Dustin Pedroia, Boston Red Sox second baseman (2007) Troy Tulowitzki, Colorado Rockies shortstop (2010) Domonic Brown, Philadelphia Phillies outfielder (2011) Pablo Sandoval, San Francisco Giants third baseman (2011, right; 2012, left) Nick Markakis, Baltimore Orioles outfielder (2012) So hopefully Choi just sucked.
  13. Mine still aren't listed. Same here. They've really been dragging ass with the whole online sign-up/setup, so it's not surprising that this is behind as well.
  14. I have not seen it expressed clearly in this thread yet. So maybe I'm a dumb dumb, but maybe you can tell me again what benefit it is to have Rose play tomorrow as opposed to two weeks from now? Because the sooner he gets back on the court the sooner they can figure out what type of player he is and what he's capable of after an injury this bad. That's going to impact how they re-construct the team going forward.
  15. I'm a pretty big Rose fan, but he's certainly not going to be accused of being intelligent by anyone. Part 2 is harder to answer. A lot of layers there? Did he tell Reggie to speak up? Is he sitting out to prove a point? None of us truly know.(my feeling is yes, to both) Part 3? Ties into part 2 somewhat, but my answer changes to no. I think its a copout and an excuse to sit out, because he's not a 100%, during what he feels is a lost season. It's just a different type of athlete than it used to be. MJ would have been back the day he was cleared. Now, Adidas has as much say with Derrick as the Bulls do, arguably more. Personally, I wouldn't question his mentality though, I just think its a product of the times. The gist of this discussion though: I side with N&G, he's medically cleared-he should be out there. I'd just call him selfish and leave it at that, instead of digging deeper. I don't even think he's selfish or mentally weak or anything like that. I guess if I had to pick it would be "not very bright coupled with unrealistic expectations of himself." Supposedly he's hung up on the idea of coming back less than 100%, like it's somehow possible for his return to be this instantly triumphant thing like in the Reebok commercials. It's as if he's thinking everyone expects him to be amazing when he gets back, so he doesn't want to come back at anything less than amazing. Unfortunately it's a catch-22 situation where he's never going to get back to amazing if he doesn't first get a feel for his game again and play limited minutes and such.
  16. I'm writing Derrick a prescription for 15 regular season games and another 5 game playoff loss. That's what Bernstein is making it out to be. He's repeatedly said that the doctors said the next step in his therapy is to play NBA games. That's different than clearing him to play. They've cleared him to play.
  17. Well, there is, and it's been expressed very clearly repeatedly in this thread. And saying that "medical science isn't perfect" seems to amount to more than little more than throwing one's hands up and just saying, "OK, he play whenever." Your best information is to go off of what the doctors and trainers are saying...what else are you supposed to use as the primary information?
  18. Why are you saying "if?"
  19. I'll just write it off!
  20. Maybe he's actually not physically ready. Not according to the medical experts. Seriously, you think anyone is expecting him to play if he hasn't been cleared by the doctors/trainers?
  21. Well, he eventually has to move to the next level of his rehab process, yes. It just doesn't have to be now. Is it silly for him not to? Maybe. But unless there's some potential upside, why push him to do it right now? There's no reason to do so. I wasn't saying "literally game-changing" just for kicks; this is something that he needs to adjust to and potentially figure out how to be a different player than he was before (which impacts the players around him and how his coaches approach him). That's a HUGE reason for him to play sooner rather than later. And I'd flip around your post and say there's no reason for him not to play right now. There's absolutely no upside to him not playing whereas there's pretty huge reasons to get him back ASAP.
  22. Wait, what? What's the benefit to continuing the rehab process of a literally game-changing injury sooner rather than later? This isn't something someone should have to ask.
  23. HGH helps you heal so much faster. Apples to oranges. If Rose isn't doing the same then he's even stupider than he already is.
  24. FedEx just dropped mine off. This is....kinda great. So awesome. Can't imagine how excited I'd be if the team were really good. Yeah, there's definitely a damper on it, but I just keep thinking "investment."
