  1. FedEx just dropped mine off. This is....kinda great.

  3. that's completely irrelevant to the point it shouldn't even have to be said in the first place. Why put it off when you can ideally get it over with sooner? If he's waiting for some magical point where he can step on the court and be at or near 100% and feel no pain or discomfort then he's never coming back; he's not playing right now because of ridiculously and pointlessly high standards he's set.
  4. Oh come the [expletive] on.
  5. Who cares about the PR? It's abundantly clear that the vast majority of Bulls fans aren't seriously bothered by this and are fine with whatever Rose decides. My concern is about the Bulls FO actually running the team well. We're not even 11 months into what was always described as an 8-12 month recovery time. I have a lot of nits to pick with the front office but them not forcing Rose's hand (YET) isn't one of them. It was always a possibility he'd miss the whole year. That being said, I do think there is a low-level boil going on in terms of anger from a certain percentage of Bulls fans which will only increase the more time he misses and the more incoherent the messaging gets. Yeah, but those timeframe estimates were based on when he's be medically cleared to play, not "when Rose feels like he should." If it was the medical specialists coming back and saying, "yeah, he's not ready, he might miss the whole season," fine, nobody would be questioning anything. When he's apparently medically cleared to play but he's deciding to not take the next recovery step, OK, what the [expletive]? That's not what anyone was picturing when it was projected he might miss a year.

  7. This is the kind of thing that it seems like Rose is thinking; playoff performance this season shouldn't even be a real concern for him. Yeah, it's obvious they're in, but his focus should be just getting back to playing form, not getting back to a level he can be a game changer for this year's playoffs. If that's do-able, great, but if not, oh well; get out there and play and work back up to fighting shape however long it takes. Putting it off just pushes the whole process back pointlessly.
  8. Because it's ridiculous; it's like e2s said, if this was any other star athlete being this evasive or supposedly saying the things Rose is people here would be mocking them left and right. The local radio isn't even all that critical of them; more just questioning the whole ridiculous situation, yet you'll have all kinds of people calling up and saying "how could you say that about Rose?!? How could you turn on him like that?!?!?!" and so on. If this was Kobe or LeBron people here would be having a field day with the story. I'm not even mad at Rose; he's just not very smart and wants impossible things, like returning only when he feels he's at or close to 100% or totally pain-free. I'm mad at the people around him and advising him for basically going along with this and agreeing with him and at the Bulls for seemingly for not putting their foot down. He's needlessly delaying an important part of the recovery process.
  9. This is so [expletive] dumb.
  10. Why didn't Luke use the Force to stop that bear from mauling the woman? The look on her face as she realizes what is happening is priceless. The look on her face as she gets mauled by a bear is priceless? What the hell is wrong with you? Maybe he's a decadent Roman emperor who has somehow fallen forward in time and is just loving what he knows.
  11. After thorough research I have decided that this man is my favorite Bear of all time.
  12. Plus this exchange is the greatest:
  13. http://deadspin.com/deandre-jordan/ They're right; I think Brandon Knight is like eight kinds of dead. The best gif would be Jordan's face right afterwards.
  14. Or, of course: http://images.quickblogcast.com/3/5/1/2/7/182718-172153/0220091507_M_conan_bear_450.jpg
  15. Excellent.
  16. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/cubs-want-more-kid-friendly-wrigley-field-could-190225420--mlb.html I'm all for it if they bring back that terrifying bear costume.
  17. Probably, unless they're half-assing it.
  18. It never will. He's posturing so that it can look like the city will "give" him something; my guess is it will be centered around an agreement to fix up the Sheridan L stop, something the city already needs to do and probably would have done in the relatively near future anyway. I haven't taken it in awhile, but I thought the Sheridan L stop was just fixed in the past year. I think it received some extended maintenance, but nothing compared to the overhaul that some of the other Red Line stops have gotten in the past year or so; it's still pretty much a dump. Plus I thought I saw something about Tunney and co. wanting it "expanded," so maybe they want it to become a Purple Line stop as well? Not quite sure about that last part.
  19. Lucroy had a .881 OPS last year and a 3.9 WAR while missing about 50 games due to a broken hand. He's one of the better catchers in baseball. His good partial season doesn't sway me more than the body of work, although in fairness it was better than my memory. ZiPS ranks him tied for 13th among catchers and 7th among American born catchers, behind Posey, Mauer, Wieters, McCann, Zunino, and Avila. Why are Jimmy Rollins and Eric Hosmer on this team? Troy Tulowitzki and Prince Fielder busy? I get the pitchers skipping, but why would the hitters? Because they too play the game of baseball and could end up injured.

  21. This. Tunney is a gnat in a thunderstorm right now. The city wants the Cubs to stay and maximize the revenue for both sides without the city paying for it, and the path to that resolution is obvious right now. Tunney doesn't even count as a roadblock; he's just bitching because he can right now. While I agree, relying on Chicago politicians for anything is risky at best. That's pretty pointless hyperbole; the Cubs are a huge moneymaker for the city and this has to get done to keep that going and, ultimately, make even more money. Tunney has next to no influence/power when it comes to getting this accomplished. So why haven't they told him to [expletive] off yet? Because there's no need to and that's not how these things are handled. He knows his role and he knows he's going to squashed and he's trying to make as much noise in the meantime so it looks like he's doing something. The Cubs and the city will do what they need to do regardless of Tunney.

  24. Nothing to add except thanks for the post/thread. Really helpful.
