  1. Well, problem #1 is they tried to have him go 2 innings. They brought him in for the 5th and got out of that (gave up a hit and a walk) but then inexplicably brought him back out for the 6th.
  2. Soriano is easily the biggest casual fan blind spot in the Cubs org. Last year at Cubs Convention you'd think that Soriano had pledged to burn Wrigley to the ground by the reaction to even a mention of his name. I've been so removed from general Cubs fandom for almost a couple years now; I guess I just had assumed that after had had the nice rebound last year and the hot streaks he had this year (plus the end of his contract in sight) that even the meaty ones had come to tolerate him.
  3. Beginning with the 2011 IFA/draft, we've diverted almost every possible resource toward the acquisition of prospects. And now we have a ton of prospects. It's a good start, but I'm not lining up for an isosceles lock with Jed and Theo just yet. yeah, not many gms get this sort of free pass with the present in an effort to focus on the future. It's not that hard to build a surplus of prospects under these conditions. Pretty much. I appreciate it to a point, but I'm waiting for them to master the whole "putting together a good Cubs team" thing before I start passing out cigars.
  4. The amount of meatballs sprouting stubby boners over the rumored Soriano trade is ridiculous. They're seemingly convinced that he's still owed a bajillion dollars and as soon as he's gone they'll be able to spend.
  5. They're funny and easily found with minimal effort. For example, these can viewed with but a single click of your mouse:
  6. Even the relatively reasonable ones are wrong. Look at how the first one lumps Barney in with Castro & Rizzo.
  7. I guess there's enough of a mix of smart over there along with the stupid that I had forgotten about/overlooked the stupid. NSBB has left me sheltered. Why is it wrong to place some value on a speed tool? It isn't, it's just that he had a really nice bunt one time and you can't count on that being a legit force of his game looking forward. Yes, that. Bunting for a hit really isn't something you can or should be expecting or relying on.
  8. All 8 actually. I was told I had allergies and had been taking allergy medication for 7 years, and then found out I didn't have allergies and just had nasal polyps and clogged sinus cavities. Huh, sounds somewhat similar to my issue; I was diagnosed with a retaining cyst in my cheek cavity several years ago and it makes me a lot more susceptible to sinus pain and pressure and sinus infections. I've had a couple doctors who said surgery was an option, but ultimately the odds were close to 50-50 that the thing would just grow back at a later date so I've begged off having it done.
  9. DON'T DIE, DUDE.
  10. Those [expletive] things always look like death traps.
  11. Does Lake have noticeable splits with his numbers?
  12. It's possible, but I don't think you can count on it. A "David Price-type" trade basically just means Price (don't want) or Stanton. Stanton's injury prone-ness scares me a bit, but I sure would like him on the team. But he's still gonna cost a fortune, injuries or not. Also, I can't see the FO selling off a lot of their valuable assets on a big bat when pitching is apparently their #1 priority. It's not like it's a glaring priority over the ML team's offensive needs. You can point to more potential impact offensive prospects right now, but they're almost all still years away.
  13. Right, but the ironic thing is that looking fondly back on (certain types of) cheating is part of the mythology. That's one of the most hypocritical things about that approach.
  14. Eh, even then nobody really cared (outside of a tiny handful of reporters) about it because it "saved the game" and all of that gobbledygook despite it being hidden in plain sight. It really wasn't until Bonds exploded and suddenly you had a guy who wasn't going to kiss the media's ass and was just straight up unlikable did you have any real effort to expose things (and even then the effort was pretty halfassed and operating under the idea that only a relative few had been or are using).
  15. And, given how it's ridiculously obvious how many guys are using, how come relatively nobody is busted or even accused in the NFL? The other major sports must LOVE how all of the PED-heat is on baseball.
  16. Helly hell, they DO have to field a team next year.
  17. Which sinus cavity? I've got something similar in the sinus cavity in my left cheek and I've always be apprehensive about any kind of surgery.
  18. Pro Sports Daily? Why does that surprise you at all? I literally just picked a post at random and got this (about Junior Lake):
  19. Closest one I could find to him flaunting that nonsense in everyone's faces.
  20. http://assets.nydailynews.com/polopoly_fs/1.1406178.1374539350!/img/httpImage/image.jpg_gen/derivatives/landscape_635/rodgers-tweet-web.jpg That'd be $39.5mil. Oh, no, that was technically LAST season's salary he was promising at the time, sooooooooooo...
  21. Do you realize how that Puig was at like 2 WAR in the month that led to that campaigning? It wasn't undeserved. The point is that it was a month. Guys don't get voted to the All Star game for a great April, which is essentially what would have happened had Puig been voted in. It would have been dumb. I wouldn't have cared and didn't even watch the game, but it would have been dumb. Wrong challenge, man: http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Bryan+Lahair+Chicago+Cubs+Photo+Day+JJCgero64gLl.jpg
