  1. Garza's hideous bunting ability actually pays off.
  2. I'm a terrifying beastman, but least I have the decency to have a non-hideous haircut.
  3. My point was that in the next few weeks, we will trade several of the players who have been largely responsible for what success the Cubs have had. But I admit that I misused the term fire sale. Would have been a lot easier to just think for two seconds before posting something incorrect yet again. Don't care about the rest.
  4. What kind of weirdo gives a damn over something like a roofline? Goofy fucks on Twitter, that's who.
  5. What it comes to is that whenever you're wrong, which is a lot, you often just change your argument/point after the fact to try and duck that.
  6. Clearly not what a fire sale is. (Hint: letting contracts expire is not part of one) (Another hint: sending players to the minors is also not part of one) (A third hint: releasing players is also not part of a fire sale)
  7. Oh my: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/assets/blog-avatars/dmrdc5-67q69ytlv4xwv3sw7kg_.jpg
  8. Just wait for the fire sales that are happening at all times.
  9. Barney's mustered a whopping 0.3/0.4 WAR this year, so I don't think anyone would miss him.
  10. If Castro hasn't turned it around I promise to devour WSR alive.
  11. "The lights from the gigantic baseball stadium we knew was there when we moved in ARE REALLY BOTHERING US, Tom." And yeah, I'm sure there are some residents who have been there for more than 25 years. There's not a lot of them.
  12. Good point.
  13. Me too, but was it ever an issue that they "couldn't" do it so much as the Ricketts just never considered it? Given what the Cubs draw I'd have to assume that it wouldn't have taken much to convince the Sox or Brewers to such an arrangement for a nice little short term profit.
  14. With what they are paying Castro and Rizzo, they aren't expecting them to be the best players on the team. I still expect at least 1 mega free agent deal sometime in the next 2 offseasons. Who that will be is a mystery as there aren't likely too many big stars coming to free agency, especially hitters. They're not expecting them to necessarily be the best players, but they are gambling on them being at least really good.
  15. Yeah, The Plan is clearly hinged on Castro, Rizzo and Shark being consistently very good at the very least.
  16. So much for Samardzija. This begins the death spiral for him. I could have sworn Samardzija was having a disappointing season before looking at his stats. Whut.
  17. Sick burn, bra! He totally sounded like such a [expletive] [expletive] and gay and [expletive] saying all that gay [expletive]. HIGH FIVE.
  18. Holy hell, that is some torturous logic. You tossed Zambrano in there? So the fire sale is a multi-season process? So then every team is perpetually involved in some variation of a fire sale at all times? Trading guys like Hairston and Gregg and Schierholtz isn't a fire sale. That's moving guys from a mediocre team that you were hoping to move at some point to begin with.
  19. Look, just admit you couldn't think of any other words to use, so you just used the wrong ones. What the Cubs are doing is in no way a "fire sale."
  20. According to DRS, Wellington Castillo has been the best defensive catcher in baseball. He leads with 11. Anyone know how the hell that's happened? Love for his arm.
  21. There's not going to be a fire sale. There never was going to be a fire sale. They weren't ever going to trade off a huge part of the team, you tremendous oaf.
  22. Castillo: 2.1 WAR (or 1.2 per FG) Navarro: 0.9 WAR (or 0.7 per FG)
  23. Seriously? Kevin Gregg was going to warm up if they got on base there? Calm the [expletive] down, Dale.
  24. How is Wilson's contract a big fat anchor? It's a team spending long term money on a player over the age of 23...that's madness!
