    It would have to take a overpay to trade him, imo. He still has a year of team control, iirc. We still need to field a team next year and it's not like the minor leaugers will be ready to break through to fill his spot. Yeah, that too; trading Hairston and now with it looking like Soriano being gone I'd be very surprised if they move Schierholtz. I never understand why anyone would bring up Valbuena as being trade bait right now; despite the prospect parade they don't have anyone to replace him now and nobody to replace him at the beginning of next season. He's young, he's cheap and he's productive in a position of need; no need to move him yet.

    Some part of me still believes this team can make a run at .500. All it would take is some good production from the 5th spot in the rotation, IMO. If Valbuena, Schierholtz, and Soriano are traded then it's probably not going to happen - but if Lake keeps it up, it could easily happen. Guerrier and Strop have made the pen ten times better. Seriously doubt that they're going to trade Valbuena.

    I like how you talk about the Giants like NOBODY ELSE on the team could possibly have been using and they were all surprised or aghast once they put everything together. Look, forget about Bonds; he's an extreme outlier in pretty much every category we're talking about, including looking like a monster. I don't know why you're so hung up on it, but just move on. Probably a good 90%+ of PED users never bulked up to a suspect level.

    I don't think Bonds, Sosa, or ARod used a legal PED alone. There was always something illegal they were taking in addition to any legal ones. I don't have a problem if you have a prescription. I don't think they did. There's so much wrong with this I don't even know where to begin.

    The point is that "looking for huge guys" isn't an accurate way of guessing who was and is using PEDs. Not everyone hulks out. When do you think Sosa started using? Sure, not everyone does. But Bonds did. That is really not debatable. Nobody has disagreed with that point, so I have no idea what you think you're arguing. So his power and build increase from 1993-1997 was just one of those things?

    Right, and not all of the drugs you're decrying were illegal at that point, and tons of the players using the "banned" ones were getting prescriptions.

    During the 1998 season? No. Starting with the 1999 season and onward? Yes. Definitively he wasn't busted until a 2000 test.

You're the one that keeps railing on about evidence, and then people bring up the tests and you turn around and say the evidence is "Wilson looked at his TV and decided that guy was too big."

Why him saying he didn't keep taking speed means to you he definitively didn't ever take it again or didn't use anything else makes no sense.

    And man, the point you're trying to make is even worse the more I think about it...so what if his numbers fluctuated regularly? That still doesn't explain an old-ass player having a career-high power surge that late. One would expect the fluctuations to continue on a decreasing scale, not increasing or staying level.

But greenies and modern steroids have far different effects. That's debatable, especially given how it's pretty much a lock that a LOT more players used amphetamines than used Bonds-ian regimes of anabolic steroids.

It's pretty well documented that he started taking them after the 1998 season because he was pissed Sosa and McGwire were getting all the attention when he thought he was a far superior player to them. He started juicing out of his mind at that point and turned into the incredible Hulk. That's just like the 800th thing mentioned in this thread that he could easily look up, yet seems to refuse to do so.
